RNNv2 CustomBackButton leaves a gap on the Nav Bar - react-native

I have made a custom back button component simply to pop up an alert to the user on certain screens where they may be changing data for an entity and will lose those changes if they do not hit Save before navigating away from the screen.

This logic/implementation works as intended, however the appearance is grossly different from the native back button appearance on iOS. I am wondering how best to emulate this as close as possible so the user can feel that the button is the same as the native experience everywhere throughout the application.
What would you advise? I am open to any and all suggestions such as flexbox improvements, hacky RNN mods, etc. etc.

Modal drag animations in react-navigation#v6

I've recently upgraded to react-navigation v6 for various functionality upgrades but seem to be having some difficulty understanding the recently added presentation prop available on stack navigators.
I'm working exclusively for IOS and what I basically want to achieve is the same drag-to-close behaviour presentation="modal" gives by default but without the asthetic look of the new screen being stacked on top of the previous screen.
I've made a basic example to highlight what it is I mean which will hopefully make more sense than my words.
If you set presentation to modal inside the Routes.js (line 56), on button click the modal will render and the user is able to drag down on the screen to close it. If however I use presention="transparentModal", you lose the dragging functionality.
Is it possible to get this dragging functionality when using this presentation type?

React Native - Dismiss Menu on Any Touch Event

I would like to have a small menu that closes if the user interacts with any other component. For example if the user tries to scroll or interact with any of the content in a scrollview behind the menu (see the image below for reference).
I have two ideas for how this might be achieved:
A transparent layer behind the menu with an absolute position and dimensions matching the device. If this layer registers a touch event the menu can be dismissed. The problem with this is that from the users perspective the touch event was totally ignored. So for this to work well I would need to be able to still pass the touch event through the absolute layer to the content behind it.
Add callbacks to every component that could be interacted with to notify the menu that it should close. This option seems like it would be very messy and because of the large number of components in my use case it is not practical to implement and maintain.
Is there an other proper way to solve this problem? Can any of the issues I raised with the ideas above be resolved or mitigated?
Wrap your view with a TouchableWithoutFeedback component and provide it a onPress callback that hides the menu if it's open. Depending on how top-level the 'expand' icon is, you may want to track the menu's visibility in redux and dispatch an action onPress to track globally.

Simple way to create a pop-up window with react-native?

The goal is a simple and clean implementation to build a pop-up window similar to the search-filters from the YouTube-App, see picture. Tapping on the half-transparent border should close the pop-up. The same pop-up is supposed to be called from several screens (within nested navigation-structures) and just give back the choices to the respective screen.
I did quite some search and documentation reading, so I seem to have the following four options:
Use an Alert window and heavily modifying the alert message, but this option does not allow me to cancel by clicking on the transparent area.
Using some promising-looking component which is very beta like react-native-popupwindow is not really an option either.
Use a modal component which claims to be a simple way to present content above an enclosing view. According to How to dim a background in react native modal? and Tap outside of modal to close modal (react-native-modal)" this seems to be a possible option.
However, some people say that you should rather use Overlay and use Modal only as a last resort.
Please advice which of the solutions you tested in real life. What do you suggest? Maybe there is even an easier solution?

What is the recommended pattern for progress indicators when waiting for data in Windows UWP apps?

Let's say I have an app built like the Microsoft weather app.
On launch of app I need to download the forecast from the internet. While waiting to do so I also need to display a progress indicator. Which of the following (if any) is recommended?
Render the page fully with navigation controls (hamburger side menu) as well as page content (but without values since they are data bound). Then overlay a modal control like a popup with a progress indicator inside and a cancel button.
Render only the application root shell with the progress indicator inside (no other content, or navigation controls like hamburger menu are visible). Then once the task is complete, navigate to the home page with content.
Render the home page with content and navigation controls, but hide only the content (with visibility = collapsed) and show a progress indicator in its place. Once data is downloaded hide the progress indicator, and show the content.
I don't know which one of these I'm supposed to use. Is there a recommended way to do this?
Or is there a better way I didn't think of?
There is no one perfect answer for this question but I will try to explain the most common solution. None of points above is good or bad. It is better to concentrate on the user experience.
Render fully page with navigation controls and display loading popup is not really bad idea - user see the whole page with progress ring for instance and has chance to cancel it. But remmber that if data is not loaded or user abort pulling it there will be empty content in the app (if this is first time when user launched the app).
One of the best solutions for scenario you wrote is to use extended Splash Screen. Once you app is launched first Splash Screen is displayed and when you extend it, you can add progress ring to indicate that data is being retrieved.
This is very elegant way to present to the user.

Navigation to Different "Versions" of the Same Screen React Native

I recently implemented navigation in my app using NavigatorIOS in React Native. However, I think I've encountered a problem. Say I have 10 nav buttons on my home screen. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm assuming (since I haven't done the backend yet) that if I use the first button to navigate to the next screen (let's call it Second.js), wrote/saved some data, and then went back and navigated to Second.js with the second button, that data from before would still be there? If so, is there a way for each button to navigate to a different "version" of the same screen? For example, could each button go to its own version of Second.js so that each button has its own local data in its Second screen, or would I have to make Second1.js, Second2.js, Second3.js, etc.? If the former isn't possible, I'd need a fixed number of nav buttons, plus a lot of memory is wasted with all these new classes that are basically replicas of each other. Thank you!
