i want to create a checkbox in listview using xaml, after selecting the multiple checkbox click button to get all selected value.My code is :
<ContentPage.Content>
<ListView x:Name="ProductsListView">
<ListView.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<ViewCell>
<ViewCell.View>
<StackLayout Spacing="0">
<Label Text="{Binding retail_modified_item_id}"
TextColor="Blue" FontSize="13" />
<Label Text="{Binding name, StringFormat='Name :
{0:N}'}" TextColor="black" FontSize="10" />
<Label Text="{Binding retail_price,
StringFormat='Price : {0:N}'}"
TextColor="black" FontSize="10" />
</StackLayout>
</ViewCell.View>
</ViewCell>
</DataTemplate>
</ListView.ItemTemplate>
</ListView>
</ContentPage.Content>
my output is;
output without checkbox
i tried some sample code from https://www.ignatiuz.com/blog/xamarin/button-check-box-with-list-item-in-xamarin-forms-listview/
but i'm getting input:checkbox not found
i am new to xamarin please give some sample code or link to do this
You can use Plugin.InputKit from Nuget.
Usage
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<ContentPage xmlns="http://xamarin.com/schemas/2014/forms"
xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2009/xaml"
xmlns:local="clr-namespace:xxx"
xmlns:input="clr-namespace:Plugin.InputKit.Shared.Controls;assembly=Plugin.InputKit"
x:Class="xxx.MainPage">
<ContentPage.Content>
<ListView x:Name="ProductsListView">
<ListView.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<ViewCell>
<ViewCell.View>
<StackLayout Spacing="0">
<Label Text="{Binding retail_modified_item_id}"
TextColor="Blue" FontSize="13" />
<Label Text="{Binding name, StringFormat='Name :
{0:N}'}" TextColor="black" FontSize="10" />
<Label Text="{Binding retail_price,
StringFormat='Price : {0:N}'}"
TextColor="black" FontSize="10" />
<input:CheckBox Text="xxx" Type="Check"/>
</StackLayout>
</ViewCell.View>
</ViewCell>
</DataTemplate>
</ListView.ItemTemplate>
</ListView>
</ContentPage.Content>
</ContentPage>
I have written a content on implementing the multiselect listview in xamarin forms. Please check this : https://androidwithashray.blogspot.com/2018/03/multiselect-list-view-using-xamarin.html
Hope this helps.
Add/remove value to local collection using OnCheckChanged method.
I used this way:
<ListView>
<ListView.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<ViewCell>
<StackLayout Orientation="Horizontal">
<Label Text="Some item" />
<CheckBox
IsChecked="true"
CheckedChanged="OnCheckedChanged"
HorizontalOptions="EndAndExpand"/>
</StackLayout>
</ViewCell>
</DataTemplate>
</ListView.ItemTemplate>
</ListView>
If you need to have checkboxes inside a listview, you can use Xamarin.Forms.InputKi (https://github.com/enisn/Xamarin.Forms.InputKit)
Then I would define it like this inside a DataTemplate's ViewCell:
<input:CheckBox Text="Hello World I'm Option 2" Type="Check"/>
There are also Bindable properties and events which you can use depending on your scenario:
CheckChanged: (Event) Invokes when check changed.
CheckChangedCommand: (Command) Bindable Command, executed when check
changed.
Key: (int) A key you can set to define checkboxes as ID.
Text: (string) Text to display description
IsChecked: (bool) Checkbox checked situation. Works TwoWay Binding as
default.
Color: (Color) Color of selected check.
TextColor: (Color) Color of description text.
Type: (CheckType) Type of checkbox checked style.
(Check,Cross,Star,Box etc.)

How do I set static text as Carousal view items instead of doing data binding? Here in the below code I am trying to have Page 2 appear when the user swipes to the left. This code says The property ItemTemplate is set more than once
<StackLayout Margin="10">
<CarouselView>
<CarouselView.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<Grid>
<Label Text="Page 1"/>
</Grid>
</DataTemplate>
</CarouselView.ItemTemplate>
<CarouselView.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<Grid>
<Label Text="Page 2"/>
</Grid>
</DataTemplate>
</CarouselView.ItemTemplate>
</CarouselView>
</StackLayout>
If you want to set the items statically in xaml itself without data binding you can use Array markup extension of type string:
<StackLayout Margin="10">
<CarouselView>
<CarouselView.ItemsSource>
<x:Array Type="{x:Type sys:String}">
<sys:String>Page 1</sys:String>
<sys:String>Page 2</sys:String>
</x:Array>
</CarouselView.ItemsSource>
<CarouselView.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<Grid>
<Label Text="{Binding .}" />
</Grid>
</DataTemplate>
</CarouselView.ItemTemplate>
</CarouselView>
</StackLayout>
PS: Don't forget to add the required xaml namespace:
xmlns:sys="clr-namespace:System;assembly=mscorlib"
I have a ListView in Xamarin forms which has a Viewcell in it. The Viewcell contains an lable control with a x:Name attribute. Now I tried to x:name in code behind but it is showing compile time error(The x:name does not exists in current context).
The below code im using.
<ListView x:Name="UnPaidInvoicesList"
SeparatorVisibility="None" IsPullToRefreshEnabled="True"
HasUnevenRows="True"
ItemSelected="UnPaidInvoicesList_ItemSelected"
VerticalOptions="FillAndExpand">
<ListView.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<ViewCell >
<StackLayout x:Name="stkDuedate" Orientation="Horizontal">
<Label x:Name="lblDueDate1" Text="Due Date:" TextColor="Gray" />
<Label x:Name="lblDueDate" TextColor="{StaticResource Pink}" />
</StackLayout>
</ViewCell>
</DataTemplate>
</ListView.ItemTemplate>
</ListView>```
Im new to this xamarin forms. Please help on this.
What features do you want to implement?
Just as Jason said,elements inside a template cannot be referenced by name.
If you want to disply a data list , you can bind the data to a ListView.
For this, you can refer to the following code:
<ListView x:Name="lstView" RowHeight="60" ItemsSource="{Binding veggies}" HasUnevenRows="True" IsPullToRefreshEnabled="False" SelectionMode="None">
<ListView.ItemTemplate >
<DataTemplate>
<ViewCell>
<StackLayout Orientation="Horizontal" HorizontalOptions="Fill" BackgroundColor="Olive">
<StackLayout Orientation="Vertical">
<Label Text = "{Binding Name}" FontSize="24" AbsoluteLayout.LayoutBounds="0.25, 0.25, 400, 40"/>
<Label Text = "{Binding Type}" AbsoluteLayout.LayoutBounds="50, 35, 200, 25"/>
</StackLayout>
<Image Source="{Binding Image}" HorizontalOptions="End" AbsoluteLayout.LayoutBounds="250.25, 0.25, 50, 50 "/>
</StackLayout>
</ViewCell>
</DataTemplate>
</ListView.ItemTemplate>
</ListView>
For more,you can check document Xamarin.Forms ListView and
Customizing ListView Cell Appearance.
You can also check the sample Xamarin.Forms - ListView Sample: Custom Cells.
I have the following xaml code:
<ContentPage xmlns="http://xamarin.com/schemas/2014/forms"
xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2009/xaml"
xmlns:local="clr-namespace:GraphTutorial.Models"
Title="Shared Document Library"
x:Class="GraphTutorial.SPDocumentLibraryContentsPage">
...
...
<ListView x:Name="SharedDocumentList"
HasUnevenRows="true"
Margin="10,10,10,10"
ItemSelected="OnItemSelected">
<ListView.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<ViewCell>
<StackLayout Margin="10,10,10,10">
<Label Text="{Binding Path=Id}"
FontAttributes="Bold"
FontSize="Medium" />
<Label Text="{Binding Path=WebUrl}"
FontSize="Small" />
</StackLayout>
</ViewCell>
</DataTemplate>
</ListView.ItemTemplate>
<ListView.Resources>
<MenuFlyout x:Name="DocumentActions">
<FlyoutItem x:Name="Edit" Text="Edit" />
<FlyoutItem x:Name="Remove" Text="Remove" Click="Remove_Click" />
</MenuFlyout>
</ListView.Resources>
</ListView>
I'm presently getting the following error message on the line:
Error XLS0414 The type 'MenuFlyout' was not found. Verify that you are
not missing an assembly reference and that all referenced assemblies
have been built.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks.
EDIT 1
I also have tried this:
<ContentPage xmlns="http://xamarin.com/schemas/2014/forms"
xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2009/xaml"
xmlns:local="clr-namespace:GraphTutorial.ContextMenu"
Title="Shared Document Library"
x:Class="GraphTutorial.SPDocumentLibraryContentsPage">
<ListView x:Name="SharedDocumentList"
HasUnevenRows="true"
Margin="10,10,10,10"
ItemSelected="OnItemSelected">
<ListView.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<ViewCell>
<StackLayout Margin="10,10,10,10">
<Label Text="{Binding Path=Id}"
FontAttributes="Bold"
FontSize="Medium" />
<Label Text="{Binding Path=WebUrl}"
FontSize="Small" />
</StackLayout>
</ViewCell>
<ViewCell.ContextActions>
<MenuItem Text="Add" Clicked="Add_Clicked"></MenuItem>
<MenuItem Text="Delete" Clicked="Delete_Clicked"></MenuItem>
<MenuItem Text="Edit" Clicked="Edit_Clicked">
</ViewCell.ContextActions>
</DataTemplate>
</ListView.ItemTemplate>
</ListView>
But this returns the error:
XLS0415 The attachable property 'ContextActions' was not found in type
'ViewCell'.
Error XLS0414 The type 'MenuFlyout' was not found. Verify that you are
not missing an assembly reference and that all referenced assemblies
have been built.
From document MenuFlyout Class,we know that class MenuFlyout is a class in uwp, so we can't use it in xamarin.
If you want to add a context menu to a list item in xamarin UWP,you can refer to the following code:
<ListView x:Name="listView" Margin="20" ItemSelected="OnListItemSelected">
<ListView.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<ViewCell>
<StackLayout Margin="20,0,0,0" Orientation="Horizontal" HorizontalOptions="FillAndExpand">
<Label Text="{Binding Name}" VerticalTextAlignment="Center" HorizontalOptions="StartAndExpand" />
<Image Source="check.png" HorizontalOptions="End" IsVisible="{Binding Done}" />
</StackLayout>
<ViewCell.ContextActions>
<MenuItem Text="Delete"
Clicked="OnDeleteClicked"/>
</ViewCell.ContextActions>
</ViewCell>
</DataTemplate>
</ListView.ItemTemplate>
</ListView>
In page.xaml.cs
void OnDeleteClicked(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
TodoItem itemToDelete = ((sender as MenuItem).BindingContext as TodoItem);
// other code
}
For more detail, you can check:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/xamarin/xamarin-forms/user-interface/menuitem

Why can I not use a TextCell like this in a ListView item template? When I use it the rows render but they are empty.
<ListView ItemsSource="{Binding Courses}">
<ListView.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<ViewCell>
<StackLayout Orientation="Vertical">
<TextCell Text="{Binding Title}" Detail="{Binding SubTitle}"></TextCell>
</StackLayout>
</ViewCell>
</DataTemplate>
</ListView.ItemTemplate>
</ListView>
When using a Label I can see the text contents in each row:
<ListView ItemsSource="{Binding Courses}">
<ListView.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<ViewCell>
<StackLayout Orientation="Vertical">
<Label Text="{Binding Title}"></Label>
<Label Text="{Binding SubTitle}"></Label>
</StackLayout>
</ViewCell>
</DataTemplate>
</ListView.ItemTemplate>
</ListView>
Is there anyway I can use the TextCell inside the list item template? I am trying to build a more complext layout inside the StackLayout and it would be greatly simplified if I could re-use the Title/Detail structure of the TextCell.
According to the Xamarin.Forms Cell Reference, cells are only designed to be added to ListViews or TableViews. In particular, it says:
However Cell is not a visual element, it just describes a template for
creating a visual element.
So it cannot be added directly to the children of a StackLayout. You will have to create a ViewCell with a custom template for that.. You can probably look at the source code on Github to find out the proper spacing that a TextCell uses between it's Text and TextDetail labels, to keep it consistent.
You Can Use Stack Layout in a text cell!
Here is the way for using it.
<TextCell>
<TextCell.BindingContext>
<StackLayout Orientation="Horizontal" >
<Label Text="{Binding Name}"
HorizontalOptions="CenterAndExpand" TextColor="Black"/>
<Label Text="{Binding Description}"
HorizontalOptions="CenterAndExpand" TextColor="Black"/>
<Label Text="{Binding Price}"
HorizontalOptions="CenterAndExpand" TextColor="Black"/>
</StackLayout>
</TextCell.BindingContext>
</TextCell>
I do not know if my code displays a list of FOOS .It does generate a list item that is clickable which goes to the correct Details page, the problem is the list item is either blank or all the text is white. I cannot figure out which.
<ContentPage xmlns="http://xamarin.com/schemas/2014/forms"
xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2009/xaml"
x:Class="MaopApplication.Views.PipelineSearch">
<StackLayout Orientation="Vertical">
<StackLayout Orientation="Horizontal" >
<Entry Placeholder="Search With PipelineName" Text="{Binding SearchText}" ></Entry>
<Button Text="Search" Command="{Binding SearchPipes}" />
</StackLayout>
<ListView ItemsSource="{Binding Foos}" ItemTapped="OnListViewItemTapped" ItemSelected="OnListViewItemSelected">
<ListView.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<ViewCell>
<ViewCell.View BackgroundColor="Red">
<StackLayout>
<label Text="wtf" TextColor="Black"></label>
<label Text="{Binding Test}"TextColor="Black"/>
</StackLayout>
</ViewCell.View>
</ViewCell>
</DataTemplate>
</ListView.ItemTemplate>
</ListView>
</StackLayout>
</ContentPage>
CODE TO CREATE FOOS
var Foos = new List<object>() {new {Test = "foo"}, new {Test = "bar"}};
A couple things wrong here (maybe it was just a bad copy/paste job):
ViewCell.View does not have a BackgroundColor property, use StackLayout.BackgroundColor instead
label should be Label (capitals matter)
When I made those change to your code, it ran fine for me:
<ViewCell>
<ViewCell.View>
<StackLayout BackgroundColor="Red">
<Label Text="wtf" TextColor="Black"/>
<label Text="{Binding Test}" TextColor="Black"/>
</StackLayout>
</ViewCell.View>
</ViewCell>
