On macOS I am having an issue. Running 10.14.2 in all my non-sandboxed projects, in any NSOpenPanel, the right click commands do not work. Any Idea? - objective-c

While developing a Cocoa sandboxed application, I discovered that if I switched it to non sandboxed, in all the Open Panels of the application, the right click commands (Duplicate, move to trash etc.) do not work any more. I am certain they did work no more than two weeks ago, but I have reverted the project to old commits and the misbehaviour is still there. I tried everything, until I realised that this misbehaviour now appears in all my projects, if I switch them to non-sandboxed. This makes me think it may be some kind of bug introduced in 10.14.2 or something similar. I hope somebody else has experienced the same issue so that we can understand better what is going on. P.S. I am using the latest Xcode 10.1 (10B61) and tried on several machines. It is the same misbehaviour.

The OS might be confused by having some contradicting leftover knowledge about sandboxed and non-sandboxed versions of the app with the same version / bundle ID / signature.
Some things to try:
Test the app on a fresh user account.
Delete the app sandbox container from your Home Folder > Library > Containers.
Temporarily change app bundle ID to something new to see if it’s still affected.

How can I stop my IAR ide from hanging when changing build configurations

I have come across this particular problem several times across several versions of the IAR embedded workbench (EW430 5.40.7 [EW 6.0], EW430 5.51.2 [EW 6.4], EW430 6.20.1 [EW 7.0]), but each time only after a long period of having no problems. The problem doesn't seem to have affected the other firmware developers in the office, so no help can be offered there. I'm currently on Windows 10, but the problems first occurred when I was on Windows 8.1 (same PC.)
The problem is that, for no obvious trigger, the IAR ide will start to hang until terminated (or it will just crash on one of the EW versions) on any attempt to change the active build configuration in MSP430 projects using the emulator.
From my testing, it appears to be directly related to something the IDE is doing with the emulator, as when the build configuration is changed, I can see the emulator menu in the menu bar disappear, then the hang happens. Under normal circumstances, the menu will disappear, but then reappear once the other debug configuration is completely loaded.
I have tried the default project "flashing the LED" to see if it was only my project - but if I select the msp430x4xx (C) - Debug, right click it and select "Set as Active" from the context menu, to make this the active project, the IDE also hung. I then reopened the EW IDE, and opened the LED flashing project again. The original 1xx asm project was the active project.
I then changed the settings of the 4xx (C) Debug project (without making it the active project) from the emulator to the simulator, and clicked OK. The program did NOT crash.
I then set the 4xx (C) Debug project as the active project and it did NOT crash. The simulator even runs without problems.
The version of the FET firmware didn't change from when the IDE worked correctly to when it didn't, and the FET is not even used at this point. It can be completely disconnected and the same results will occur.
I have tried the following, without success:
erasing the files in my project folder's settings subfolder
erasing the *.dep files in the project folder.
deleting the IarIdePm.ini file from AppData\Roaming\IAR Embedded Workbench
making sure none of the project files are read-only
reinstalling the program to the same location
removing and reinstalling the program to the same location.
What does solve the problem (until it reoccurs) is to reinstall the program, but to a different directory (for e.g., the default directory will be in program files (x86)\IAR Systems\Embedded Workbench x.x. Installing again into program files (x86)\IAR Systems\EWx (just so it is different) allowed that installation to work, but the old installation continued to fail.
Best advice so far (from our support person) has been to do the above, install to another directory and live with it, as it doesn't happen often.
Since it has happened to me on 3 occasions with 3 different versions of the program, I would like to know how to fix or prevent it! If anyone could offer anything to try (or even better, a straight solution :)) that would be greatly appreciated!

Since newer versions and updates on W10, it seems that old compatibilities are being removed from this OS. I have no direct solution for this problem since Microsoft does not promise support for old software and hardware. Even I tried to find a solution for that problem, and I found on the IAR website a list of IDE's and their compatible versions. (remember, old versions are not compatible)

You will need to update your IDE and program version to a newer version if you plan to continue to use this IDE natively on Windows 10 or you may use Virtual machines with an old operational system (like Windows 7) to compile your program on old IDE.
P.S.1 I manually uninstalled KB4592449 recently updated and the program return to work natively. Probably it will continue working until this update (or other similar) being installed again on the computer, but probably there is any vulnerability that the computer will be exposed to, and in this case, I'm paying the price.
P.S.2 KB4580325 promotes the same behavior in IAR 5.11 on windows 10. Both KB's implement securities about the flash player - that I Don't use - then, I can securely uninstall it.
P.S.3 Since I updated my windows up to Windows 10 version 21H1 (compilation 19043.1165) AND I configured Windows defender to not be monitoring IAR IDE (IarIdePM.exe) disabling all protections available, everything works fine. But Remember: my program is original, not cracked or altered by anything, then I am secure to do what I did.
It is a 'natural' that software problem. Not found way of fixing it. The solution temporary is modify manually the file .eww for change of project active. The ultimate solution is to use another development environment.

Cannot select latest uploaded version to add to testflight

I cannot select the latest version I have uploaded to seed to beta in external testing. First of all whenever I upload a build two version appearing, that have upload time difference of 5 to 15 minutes between them. One of them gets changed from processing to normal available state, but other does not. But now selecting the available build also selects the processing one and my selection is blocked and I cannot select the OK button because probably my selection is blocked by the processing one. I think it is UI frontend issue at itunesconnect side but it could be something I am doing wrong. Please help me if anyone has been able to tackle this issue if they faced. Please see checkout the attached image.
Update:
I Included <key>ITSAppUsesNonExemptEncryption</key><false/> in my subsequent builds that I uploaded according to the new Export compliance message on the iTunes Connect home page. I am still facing the issue. I have contacted Apple Dev support, will keep you updated if I find a solution.
The issue has been mysteriously solved by uploading the application from Application Loader with Aspera turned off instead of using Xcode's organizer window as suggested by Apple Developer support. Make sure you add: <key>ITSAppUsesNonExemptEncryption</key><false/> in your info.plist file before archiving the build. Although mysteriously my previously uploaded builds have also become available for external testing.

I am also having your issue yesterday, I have this similar screen with yours:
The build is duplicated which one of them are processing forever until today.
My personal problem solving was:
Increase my build number in Xcode so that I can reupload my build
Rearchive the build then export for iOS App Store Deployment in Xcode Organizer
Reupload the build using Application Loader
Then try to reconfigure the build in iTunes Connect. For a while it is processing like usual, but it will not take forever, after one hour, the build will be available for testing.
Hope my personal troubleshooting can be applied to your issue too.

Flash Builder 4.7 corrupt workspaces

On OS 10.8.2 and using the latest Flash Builder 4.7 it seems I can't go for more than a few days before running into compile errors.
90% of the time these have something to do with my workspace becoming corrupt.
Simple to fix, BUT, a pain having to reapply ALL my settings, plugins etc every time I create a NEW workspace.
Can anyone suggest any way(s) of avoiding workspaces from becoming corrupt?
Great question, I really hope someone can answer it. In the meantime, I found a way to recover from crashes without needing to rebuild all the project configuration etc which is so tedious. This is on OSX 10.8.4, Flash Builder 4.5, hopefully it works for FB 4.7 too...
Ensure FB is closed
Move all the project files out of the {workspace_fb}.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.core.resources/.projects folder.
Start FB then close it again.
Move projects folders back in to the .projects folder.
Start FB.

iOS Settings Bundle strangely disappeared

I'm working on some iOS app that involves connecting to a server and has an in-build Settings.Bundle which stored the hostname to that server.
This app has been prepared by someone else and is over a year old by now. The settings bundle and connection always worked perfectly fine, regardless of how they work. It worked this afternoon still when tested. Yet after lunch I came back and nothing worked anymore and I'm clueless on what the problem might be.
Before lunch I had some issues with an app with the same bundle identifier so I had this app's Bundle Identifier changed in the info.plist that I have been using to keep those matters in check.
Also I had been trying to create an .ipa-file for testing purposes. So I was busy with archiving the app. The app has an extern lib (zxing) to scan QR-codes for easy login functions. And my problems there were how to get the archiving file from the generic xcode archive to a genuine ios app archive. I succeeded by following this guide (http://pulkitsinghal.blogspot.nl/2012/03/wrong-archive-ios-app-archive-vs.html).
Which involved changing the 'Skip Install' setting to YES in the Target>Build Settings of my Zxing lib.
All done and well. Except, now I ran my app on my simulator and I couldn't connect to the server anymore. The hostname appeared to be (null), which was described in my Settings.Bundle.
I haven't touched the programming which created that settings item. So how could it have been disappearing on me?
Could it be that by changing the bundle identifier of the build settings in my mainproject and the zxing lib? Could it be something else?
Any thoughts on how my previous changes might have impacted the disappearance of the Settings.bundle?
(I could provide code of any kind ofc. but atm I wouldn't know what to post)
A possible solution could be reverting things back to an earlier revision of course, but I don't know what made it disappear in the first place. Or what could make it disappear. And wouldn't want to lose a few day's worth of work.

Strange application behavior when building a project with the latest xcode/OSX version

I have an OSX application written in Objective-C/Cocoa using xcode. The application is quite finished, tested and sold on the App Store.
I haven't worked on this application for some time and recently, I rebuilt it using xcode 4.3.3 on my OSX 10.7.4 and I noticed that while it builds just fine, there are some very strange visual glitches when running the application that were never seen before and occasionally, I get EXC_BAD_ACCESS when closing the application. All these seem to be related to the PDFKit framework I am using. I am unable to debug these problems since the glitches are just visual (nothing I can check in code) and EXC_BAD_ACCESS exception comes from internally allocated objects not related to my code.
The code itself haven't changed, I tried previous revisions of the code and they all exhibit the same strange behavior now. I tried running an old binary I have of the application (compiled couple of months ago) and it works just fine. Then I tried building it with previous versions of xcode, down to 4.2.1 (which I know was ok when I submitted the app to the app store) and the problems still occur.
Then I suspected this may be something specific to my environment so I built the project on different machine also with xcode 4.3.2 and OSX 10.7.4. Same results, the problems are still there.
So now I suspect that it has something to do with the OSX 10.7.4 update since this is the last thing that was changed between now and when I was able to produce a good build of the application. I am pretty puzzled to what to do next and how to identify the cause of this problem. I have an old binary that is working fine and I have a newly compiled binary of the same code revision that has problems.
Is there any useful information I can get from the difference of these binaries? What can I do to determine the cause of these problems? What can I try next?

just reset your simulator then try.
I hope you check the ARC information
go to your project Target set build settings --> Search Paths-->Always Search User Paths Set Yes.
And check your all class variables different from one another.
Xcode--> preferences-->Documentation check installed core Libraries (or) install it
like that
Xcode--> preferences-->Components check required component installed or not
check these things in your project.
Are you sure your customers are not having the same problem? Since you have tested the application on a different machine you probably do not have corrupt libraries installed (unless you did not install from scratch but used some migration tool?), so that is probably not the problem.
Most logical explanation to me would be that your customers also have this problem but they haven't reported it yet. In that case, you probably have a memory problem and there are techniques to attack that.
In any case, eliminate all the parameters that you can eliminate to simplify the problem. Deconstruct the application until the problem does not occur anymore or reconstruct the application in a different project until the problem occurs again.
It sounds like a nasty one, but you'll get there in the end, with patience and perseverance :)
First of all, you need check and verify the build log for suspicious compiler warnings.
For EXC_BAD_ACCESS, XCode analysis will give useful information.
You could try 10.6 or 10.5 (need manual installation) SDK. Or restrict the deployment target to 10.5 or 10.6.
I will answer my own question (since none of the above answers really answer it) so anyone with a similar problem might have a hint. I was not able to understand why exactly this happens but I'm pretty sure this is not a problem with my code but rather some glitch on Apple's side. And there is a workaround.
First, I compiled Apple's sample "PDF Annotation Editor" project on my Lion 10.7.4 and while the functionality is obviously different from my project, it also exhibited similar glitches with the PDFView display that my project does when compiled with 10.7.4
Then I proceeded to building a fresh clean system on new hard disk. Intalled Snow Leopard and upgraded to 10.6.8 and ONLY installed xcode. Compiled my project (the source code always stays exactly the same) and everything works fine. No problems seen in the compiled project.
Updated my OSX to Lion 10.7.4 and xcode 4.3.3, same source code. The problem is there after I compile it. I am pretty sure that if I tried 10.7.3 first, I would not see the problem as I remember it only starts with 10.7.4 but Apple doesn't provide any reasonable way to update to 10.7.3 first or downgrade to it after 10.7.4 is installed (shame on them, not very developer friendly!).
So, the problem appears in 10.7.4.
Then I installed the pre-release version of 10.7.5. This was the only thing that was changed, same source, same xcode. To my surprise, the compiled code works flawlessly now and the problems seen with 10.7.4 are now gone!
So my workaround - wait for 10.7.5 release before working on the project further. Hopefully Apple won't screw it in the future with Mountain Lion. I don't think I am going to try and debug it further or submit a ticket to Apple, going to be a tough case to explain.
