error: missing required argument `packageName'
I ran the command above and recieve the error shortly afterwards. I am not very sure what the problem is I am new to react-native and was just trying to ran an already developed project. I hope someone can help shed some light regarding this.
You are missing the package manager.
If you are using yarn:
yarn add react-native
or npm:
npm install react-native
You can read more here:
https://blog.risingstack.com/yarn-vs-npm-node-js-package-managers/
EDIT: Also, don't forget to install react-native-cli

While creating a npm project I am getting this error.
But when I install yarn.
I don't know how to rerun the program.
Or is it because I installation problem.
Is using the latest version of node an issue.
Can Someone help me with this?
the strapi supports node version up to 18, you can check it here https://docs.strapi.io/developer-docs/latest/setup-deployment-guides/installation/cli.html#preparing-the-installation
there is flag for npm you can try to use:
npx create-strapi-app /appname --ignore-engines
However I doubt it would work, the workflow with yarn:
yarn create strapi-app /appname
If error still persists you can try to open your project with VS code or whatever IDE you use… Open terminal, do:
yarn --ignore-engines
yarn build --ignore-engines
yarn develop --ignore-engines
If that won’t help, it should give you another, more detailed error message that you should post then here…
have downloaded latest version of node.js on mac
terminal says ive downloaded latest version of expo cli
if i try to run my first project in terminal; expo init project name, am always met with the same error. -bash: expo: command not found.
when i check terminal to make sure that expo is installed, i am also met with: -bash: expo: command not found.
i have spent at least 3 days trying to resolve this problem.
any help towards this resolution would be greatly appreciated
How have you downloaded the Expo CLI? It may be important to note that if you don't install the package globally, like npm install -g expo-cli, it may not be properly executable.
[Additionally, One thing I've found when installing commands is that it can help to restart your terminal. Sometimes after you've installed something new, not everything will be in place, but it might be there when the terminal restarts.]
I'm using expo to build an app. I'm new to React-Native and expo so if you could help me, I'd be really appreciated.
I get a couple of warnings that says:
Some of your project's dependencies are not compatible with currently installed expo package version
- expo-constants - expected version range: ...
- expo-permissions - expected version range: ...
- react-native-gesture-handler - expected version range: ...
Your project may not work correctly until you install the correct versions of the packages.
I was facing another error:
"TypeError: TypeError: undefined is not an object (evaluating '_styles.default.list')".
So I'm trying to install the latest version.
When I try to install expo install expo-permissions and expo install react-native-gesture-handler, I get errors.
Both errors say
Cannot find module 'expo/bundledNativeModules.json'
Require stack:
- /Users/address/src/react-native-udacicards/noop.js
I tried to remove node_modules and package-lock.json then npm install.
rollback with npm install -g expo-cli#2.4.3
I don't know if this solution will work for all the situations, but this is what fixed the issue it for me:
clean the npm cache using the following command : npm cache clean --force
re-install the dependencies : npm install
expo install
I hope it helps
1.on your package.json change expo version to
"expo": "~43.0.2", (or lower)
and your react-native-gesture-handler to
"react-native-gesture-handler": "~1.10.2",
(for expo 43.0.2)
Then, on your terminal (in your project), run
npm cache clean --force
npm install
expo doctor --fix-dependencies
I also faced this issue but Enableing USB tethering in phone, and clearing all data in expo app resolved this issue.
So I'm opening my the existing React Native project. This is the procedure on how I opened my existing React Native project. 1st step, type the location of my project which is in the "D:\rnprojects\firstproject\". 2nd step, "react-native-start". 3rd step, I opened another cmd then locate it again into my project directory then typed "npm start".
Why when I created this project I didn't get this error just when runnning/opening my existing project.
This the error that I got: (with versions)
There is only simple steps can solve your particular scenario issue quickly.
1) Install the React native cli in your project or globally.
npm install -g react-native-cli
OR
npm install react-native --save
then start your project by using this command
npm start
If any dependencies issue please follow the second solution
2) Please make sure you're installed all dependence
yarn install
OR
npm install
under your project directory
I'm pretty sure your issue will fix by using 1st solution Thanks.
it is simple:
1.npm install
2.react-native run-android
Here I guess you have the RN environment to run already on your side.
cd path_to_project
install packages(there are two following ways to install packages).
2.1 yarn install
2.2 npm install
react-native link(optional - you need to run this command if existing project use RN packages which need to link such as
react-native-vector-icons)
optional(if project use pods) cd ios pod install
react-native run-ios or react-native run-android according to the platform which you want to run on.
I don't think above is perfect instruction give you how to run the existing react-native project, But I am pleasure if give me some hints or help to you.
You can find official guide here
Sometimes npm's cache gets confused and need to reset it by using below command:
npm cache clean --force
Also try below command:
npm install --save-dev react-native-cli
Hope it will help you.
I've just updated both watchman, homebrew and react-native-cli
The result is that all my new as well as old react-native applicationsare giving the same error.
It is a TransformError in index.ios.js
this is what i got in the simulator
I looked into this question:
[TransformError when running React Native Getting Started project (iOS)]
(TransformError when running React Native Getting Started project (iOS))
But, the answer did not worked for me.
i did :
rm -rf node_modules
npm cache clean
npm i
npm start
and it did not work.
Does any one know what is happening?
I ran into this issue as well. It appears to be a missing babel plugin. Run npm install babel-plugin-node-env-inline to fix. I also had to install babel-plugin-dunderscore-dev-inline.
