Remove index.php from Shared Hosting, Node Application - apache

I'm running a node application (Ghost Blog) on my shared hosting service (a2hosting) However I'm having an issue where my Home Page has /index.php/ at the end. When I navigate to other pages the index.php is not there, and the site works fine, The issue I'm facing is on the following url: http://blog.gregsithole.com
I looked around on stack overflow and found that the issue may be related to my .htaccess file and I'm not too familiar with how to set that up, but below is what my.htaccess file looks like:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^$ http://127.0.0.1:2368/ [P,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://127.0.0.1:2368/$1 [P,L]
Please assist as I have been looking around for the past few days, and I haven't found a solution to this problem I'm facing. I've seen various posts on here which are related to CodeIgniter

After some help from my hosting service, I finally fixed the issue.
I altered my .htaccess file and based on the suggestion, I added the following to it:
Options +FollowSymLinks -Indexes
IndexIgnore *
DirectoryIndex
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^$ http://127.0.0.1:2368/ [P,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://127.0.0.1:2368/$1 [P,L]

Apache RewriteRule not working – page not found

I have no idea why it doesn't work, /spelling/30000 gives the Not Found page. Please help.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^/([0-9]+)$ /?mod=spelling&word=$1 [PT]
RewriteRule ^$ /?mod=spelling [PT]
With your shown samples please try following .htaccess rules file. Considering that index.php file is the one which is taking traffic in backend for internal rewrite rules. Please make sure to keep your .htaccess file along side with index.php file.
Also make sure to clear your browser cache before testing your URLs.
RewriteEngine ON
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^/?$ index.php?mod=spelling [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([^/]*)/([^/]*)/?$ index.php?mod=$1&word=$2 [QSA,L]

Need to remove a specific folder from .htaccess mod-rewrite redirect rules

I'm using some software that sits in the /var/www/html folder and manages URL redirects through .htaccess (the software isn't Wordpress, but it manages URL redirects in a similar way).
I need to carve two folders (/var/www/html/folder1 and /var/www/html/folder2) out from the redirect rules, which are at the very bottom of the .htaccess file. I read through a ton of documentation but can't seem to make the following work in .htaccess (which sits in /var/www/html):
Options -Indexes
DirectoryIndex index.php
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
#RewriteBase /
#force HTTPS
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
RewriteRule .* https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]
#carve out these folders
RewriteRule ^/folder1($|/) - [L]
RewriteRule ^/folder2($|/) - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^(.*)//(.*)$
RewriteRule . %1/%2 [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^.*$ index.php?qa-rewrite=$0&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
</IfModule>
When I go to the directories in question (eg. https://example.com/folder1), I get: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /folder1/ on this server.
Any ideas?
I can't comment as I'm new but do the two folders have any sort of index page? Otherwise you will get a 403 response because you have disabled indexes at the top of your file excerpt.

htaccess and CakePHP3 routing (multiple "sites" same server)

Okay so I need just a little bit of help, I think i almost have my routing clean but am running into one small issue.
I am trying to setup one server to handle multiple different static sites as well as a cakephp 3 installation.
The root .htaccess has the following
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{ENV:REDIRECT_SUBDOMAIN} =""
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www\.)?([a-z0-9][-a-z0-9]+)\.domain\.com(:80)?$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.domain\.com
RewriteCond %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/%2 -d
RewriteRule ^(.*) /%2/$1 [E=SUBDOMAIN:%2,L]
RewriteRule ^ - [E=SUBDOMAIN:%{ENV:REDIRECT_SUBDOMAIN},L]
This works great for routing subdomains to their proper folder
static.domain.com properly goes to /static/index.php
the problem comes when i try to access my cake installation
cake.domain.com ends up routing to cake.domain.com/cake/$1
I really need it to route to cake.domain.com/$1
/cake/.htaccess
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /cake
RewriteRule ^$ webroot/ [L]
RewriteRule (.*) webroot/$1 [L]
</IfModule>
/cake/webroot/.htaccess
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /cake
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/(webroot/)?(img|css|js)/(.*)$
RewriteRule ^ index.php [L]
</IfModule>
I will be eternally grateful for any help, i have exhausted google searching and banging my head on the wall.
I am completely open to easier ideas as well

Ember/Ember-Cli Serving through Apache throws 404

I'm running into a problem when I try to serve my ember app through Apache. Because the location is set to "history" and not "hash", Apache is trying to load the magic ember routes which don't exist as files. myapp.com/login throws a 404 because there is no login.html.
I've done a bit of scouring and its surprising that there isn't much on this which leads me to believe that not many people deploy ember apps on apache.
So it's suggested I write Apache URL Rewrite rules, but the one's I have tried don't seem to be working.
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.html [L]
and
Options FollowSymLinks
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.html$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.html [L]
</IfModule>
Don't work.
Does anyone have any idea of what to do other than go back to "hash"?
Regards, Clueless person.
You need to route everything to index except the files that exist:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.html#$1 [L]
If you can back to hash, you can change the locationType setting it to "hash".

I had the same problem and I fixed it with that.

Apache Rewrite custom rules file

I have a server set up hosting a website. It uses "pretty links". I am having a problem when trying to create rules in the htaccess file.
Before I continue I would like to reference the locations I use to minimise confusion
wwww/ the wwww is the site all my folders content in and it resides in the www folder created by wamp
page.php contains the rules I want to somehow impliment and this is located in the root of my website
currently my website produces links like the following which dont work:
www.MYDOMAIN.co.uk/our-services
the link above does not work but if I manually edit the link and do this it works:
www.MYDOMAIN.co.uk/page.php?q=our-services
I need to find a way to implement this in the htaccess file and get it to add the page.php?q=
Below is my htaccess file
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . wwww/index.php [L]
</IfModule>
The problem I am having is on my home page the navigation is generated and if I click a link for our services it redirects to the page www.MYDOMAIN.co.uk/our-services
What I need it to do is to hit my rule file which is in my root directory called page.php which in turn will use the our-services or whatever the query might be to give it the correct link
I know my htaccess file is currently linking back to the index file and this is why it isn't working but I have tried other methods as seen below.
ATTEMPT 1 - this just 404's or takes me to a blank page
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . wwww/page.php?q=$1 [L]
</IfModule>
ATTEMPT 2
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule .? /page.php?$1 [L]
</IfModule>
My other attempts are all similar and I get the same 404 or blank screen. This is my first time getting into Rewriting links which explains my lack of knowledge about it.
Ok try this rule from /wwww/.htaccess:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /wwww/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([^.]+)$ page.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]
</IfModule>
If /wwww/ is indeed your DocumentRoot then change RewriteBase line to:
RewriteBase /
