Setup apache server - apache

I am completely new to all things apache, and thought I'd try a tutorial for fun. I have followed this simple one step for step multiple times, but my web browser always fails to "connect to the server at ". At this point I have installed apache2 properly, but can't get anything else than the default to work. Whenever I try to set up my own example.com (or other name) I only get the failure to connect to the server.
I have no idea what I am doing wrong, so I would appreciate any thoughts on what I am missing. I have done nothing outside what is in the linked tutorial. Thanks in advance.

Unable to connect to phpMyAdmin via SSh tunnel on Bitnami LAMP stack

I've tried searching for a solution to my problem both here and elsewhere online but I've come up empty, so I'm hoping someone can help. I must initially point out this issue has shown that this area is a complete blind spot for me, so I'm sorry if I'm missing something blatantly obvious, or I'm not explaining thoroughly enough.
I'm trying to access phpMyAdmin on a Bitnami LAMP stack via SSH tunnel, as per guide here: https://docs.bitnami.com/virtual-machine/components/phpmyadmin/. I seem to be able to establish the SSH tunnel, and everything looks correct in the PuTTY event log in terms of opening connection for forwarding, etc, but when I try to navigate to http://127.0.0.1:8888/phpmyadmin in a browser as stated in the guide, I am returned the error 'This site can’t be reached. 127.0.0.1 refused to connect.' After I receive this error I check the PuTTY event log and it shows 'forwarded port closed'. Is anyone able to provide me with some troubleshooting steps I can go through or possible solutions for what the problem may be please? Again, if I've not provided enough information please ask and I'll do my best to update what I can.
For background, I am the nearest thing to an IT lead for a GP and this LAMP stack is used for an online system accessed by both patients and staff for a specific health condition. It was independently created by a GP who has since left the practice, but before doing so he imparted onto me what we thought to be enough information/instruction to keep the system "ticking over" until we found a developer to produce a new one (I'm struggling to get in touch with said GP, so currently asking for their help isn't an option). It is a Bitnami LAMP stack created in Microsoft Azure, and has recently developed a SMTP authentication error whenever a patient/staff member needs to request a new or reset an existing password. I am attempting to access phpMyAdmin to check/reconfigure the SMTP server settings in the hopes of rectifying the situation. I do have some systems experience, previously working as a System Analyst/Technician for a hospital, but as I previously stated this area (servers, etc.) are a bit of a blind spot.
Many thanks to anyone willing and able to help.
Bitnami Engineer here,
It seems that the SSH tunnel was not properly created and that's why you can't access phpMyAdmin now. You can try to reconfigure the port forwarding configuration again or you can edit the Apache's configuration to allow remote requests from your IP to the phpMyAdmin application. To do so:
Edit the /opt/bitnami/conf/bitnami/phpmyadmin.conf file and substitute the Require local line with Require ip YOUR_PUBLIC_IP.
If you do not know your public IP, you can access http://myip.bitnami.com to get that information
Restart Apache and access phpMyAdmin using http://MACHINE_IP_ADDRESS/phpmyadmin

Apache is Adding Javascript in HTML File

I got a strange situation where my Apache Server is adding a piece of Javascript code just before closing tag of the served HTML content.
I tried to find out but could not success what is going here on the server. I restarted the server and then it went away, but after sometime I'm facing same issue.
I'm sure my server is compromized and someone is doing this act. Kindly help me where to look to check how Apache can add such code on the fly on CentOS 7.
If you do not have set up anything like this, it's likely that your server got compromised.
As a first step, I suggest you check, if anything like this has been configured.
Beware though, if your server has been compromised, it's very likely that the attacker still maintains access to your server. If you can, nuke it, rotate credentials and look into hardening your servers.

Plesk is blocked on change the domain prefix

I have a Plesk 12.0.18 on Centos Server. All subscriptions works fine, but one subscription have a domain with this problem.
When i change the domain prefix to "www.mydomain.com" or to "mydomain.com", this still stuck to "Waiting...".
When this happens, the rest of the server still works fine, but will not let me make any changes to the rest of subscriptions.
I try to edit the apache vhosts, but this looks fine.
Please I need a help.
I think there is an issues with the plesk databases and due to that your process is getting stuck. I will suggest you please check your panel error logs file OR ask your system admin to check this.

Bad request error in Apache2 when accessing http instead of https

I am a noob and I have recently started playing with my apache2 installation and trying to see how things are working. Also this exercise helps me figure out more things about apache2 than just reading some manual online.
But I am unable to figure out what I did now ?
So, here is my question: I enabled default-ssl (and have disabled default, i.e., have closed port 80, so that you can only connect the server with https)> I remember previously (say couple of days back) when i did the same and tried to access my website using http, it was giving me some error in the browser saying the web page could not be found or something. But today, doing the same thing give a nice error page saying one should use https instead of http.
Bad Request
Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Reason: You're speaking plain HTTP to an SSL-enabled server port.
Instead use the HTTPS scheme to access this URL, please.
Hint: https: // 127.0.1.1/
And, I actually like this. But, I am trying to remember what things I might have done in between to activate such nice error page which was previously not shown.
I know I did something and I cannot remember what I did and asking you to figure that out. I feel bit stupid out there. But, it would be great if any Apache Sherlock out there who could help me. BTW, I am using Ubuntu 12.10.
Thanks

Set up https on the localhost

I have an error occuring on a page that only happens when I access the page through https. I need to configure https on my local machine for testing but am not sure how to go about it?
EDIT.
Using IIS. Sorry for not including.
If you are using IIS then go here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=56fc92ee-a71a-4c73-b628-ade629c89499&DisplayLang=en
and download the tookit.
In there you'll find a utility called SelfSSL. You can set up a certificate locally that'll get you through development. If I recall the command is:
selfssl /T /N: cn="your_computer_name"
I know the answer is a bit late but hopefully it'll help someone.
