I have a test setup that opens a program and does a test on loop.
I want to have the program take a snapshot / screenshot of the program (only) after a test, inside the loop.
Is this possible?
Below is my test suite run:
So it is fine, and I can run through the full test, but I can't see the results, unless I have Ranorex open. This is not sufficient, if I run this on another PC or VM.
NOTE: All the blanked out boxes, are my variables.
To take a screenshot of the app under test, 3 simple steps:
Create a repo item of the application (using Ranorex Spy).
Drag n Drop the repo item in a recording.
Select the "Capture Screenshot" action.
Hope this helps (even though you have solved the issue!)
Just for clarification.
Ranorex Support team helped me by giving me some C# code to help save screenshots to a location on my PC.
Add a Code Module to the Action Screen, then add the following code:
public void SaveScreenshot(string savelocation)
{
//Take a screenshot of a specific element
Bitmap image = Imaging.CaptureImageAuto(repo.program.SSTabCtlWndClass);
//Name and path to store the screenshot
String imageName = String.Format(varNumber1 + "_" + varNumber2 + ".jpg");
String pathImageName = Path.Combine(#"C:\temp\Screenshots\", imageName);
//Save the screenhot in your specific folder
image.Save(pathImageName, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Jpeg);
}

I am developing a Plugin for IntelliJ for teaching purposes, where students write some code and the teacher can write tests and the students can run those tests and see if they are doing it all correctly. It would be great if I would get the file the user is writing in as a java class so that I can run the functions of that class from within another function and test it as if I would have written it.
What I have as of now:
In the Main Toolbar I have a button, where the students should be able to run the tests. I have a class that extends AnAction, now I have no Idea what I should write in it:
#Override
public void actionPerformed(AnActionEvent e) {
}
I have been going through the IntelliJ documentation for some time now and as by now I do not get any further. I sure hope that the experienced developers that can be found here can manybe give me a hint or two.
Thanks a lot in advance :)
If I understand correctly, the students would be programming within a project within IntelliJ?
Then you can get the path to the project that they are working on using the AnActionEvent event.
Project project = event.getProject();
String projectBasePath = project.getBasePath();
You could use this to send the entire src folder to your computer and do what it is that you need to do there?
But, it also sounds like you would want the students to run the test functions on their side via the plugin. In that case, one option that I know of is to again use the project.getBasePath(), or get them to select a file using a GUI, and then use ProcessBuilder to compile, run, test, etc their Java classes. You can run any Windows / shell command this way and pipe the output into the IDE, or your own tool window.
public void actionPerformed(AnActionEvent event) {
Project project = event.getProject();
String projectBasePath = project.getBasePath();
ProcessBuilder pb = new ProcessBuilder();
pb.directory(projectBasepath);
pb.command("cmd", "/k", "javac src\*.java")
pb.redirectErrorStream(true);
Process process = pb.start();
BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(newInputStreamReader(process.getInputStream()));
String line;
while ((line = reader.readLine()) != null) {
System.out.println(line);
}
int exitCode = process.waitFor();
System.out.println("\nExited with error code : " + exitCode);
... // anything else you need to do
}
Let me know if this makes sense - maybe I can help you out more if you give me more specific questions.
I was trying to take the screenshot of a particular output screen for all the tests.The URL of the page differs for each test depending on the environment (QA,DEV) and also the reference number created.
For example "https://xyz-QA-abc.com/ABCDEF/123456"
Here the QA can be changed and 123456 is different for each test.I am doing my work in cucumber using JAVA8.I am not using selenium webdriver.I tried with the code below in HOOKS.But it is not working.It is showing error in browser,attach,buffer,base64png .Could someone help me with a better code
if(scenario.isFailed()){
return browser.takeScreenshot()
.then((base64png)=>{
scenario.attach(new Buffer(base64png,'base64'),'image/png');
});
Try this:
byte[] screenshot = ((TakesScreenshot) driver).getScreenshotAs(OutputType.BYTES);
scenario.embed(screenshot, "image/png");
My Sencha Touch 2 application has an 'Export' button, which creates an Excel file with the data of the selected offer.
After the user clicks the button, i want the (server side) export process to be started, and, once completed, the user to be prompted to select a filename and location, OR that the file is automatically downloaded. How do i do that? Does anyone have an example?
For Excel specifically I'm not 100% sure, but this might help you get started or if a CSV is acceptable...
I'm sure you could pass the file reference to a var instead of the string but I have yet to try it.
If you paste the js below into the console you can see how this works. Pretty basic. Maybe try the returned value from the server to see if that works then if it does you can build a function around it to happen when needed.
csvHeading = 'HA, HB, HC, HD \n';
csvData = 'r3a, r3b, r3c, r3d \n' +
'r2a, r2b, r2c, r2d';
CSVFile = csvHeading + csvData;
window.location = 'data:text/csv;charset=utf8,' + encodeURIComponent(CSVFile);
Kindly help.
i have created a runnable jar for my Selenium webDriver suite. now i have to test this in multiple environment( QA , Demo box, Dev ). But my manager doesnt what it to be hard coded like below
driver.get(baseUrl)
As the baseURl will change according to the need. My script is given to the build team. So all they will do in the command prompt is
java -jar myproject-1.0.1.jar
So my manager has asked me to send the baseUrl as a command line argument so that build team do not have to go to my script and manually change the baseUrl. They should be able to change the URL every time they run the script from the command line itself. Something like this
java -jar myproject-1.0.1.jar "http://10.68.14.248:8080/BDA/homePage.html"
Can somebody please guide me through this. Is it possible to send command line arguments to Selenium Web Driver driver.get(baseUrl)
Thanks in advance
From your question above I recon you want pass URL at runtime, means your URL changes time to time so beside hardcoded URL , you want pass at the time your automation code runs. So, let me give you 2 simple solutions.
You can send URL dynamically or at Run time by using javascript executor:
try{
JavascriptExecutor js = (JavascriptExecutor)driver;
js.executeScript("var pr=prompt('Enter your URL please:',''); alert(pr);");
Thread.sleep(15000L);
String URL = driver.switchTo().alert().getText();
driver.switchTo().alert().accept();
driver.get(URL);
}catch(Throwable e)
{
System.out.println("failed");
}
Use this code in place of driver.get(); , so that a prompt box will appear when you run your code and within 15 secs or it will throw a error(you can change the time in Thread.Sleep) you will give the current Valid URL and hit Enter, the navigation will go to the URL. So that you can use different URL for same set of testscripts.
By using Scanner Class:
String url = "";
System.out.println("Enter the URL :");
Scanner s = new Scanner(System.in);
url = s.next();
s.close();
By using this you can give needed URL in your Console (If you are using Eclipse).
I recommend try Javascript excutor in your code and then create a runnable jar file and just run the Jar file, you will know and it will be the better solution than commandline URL passing . Let me know :)
Another way is to supply arguments this way -Durl=foobar.com and extract them in runtime like this
String URL= System.getProperty("url")
I'm Stuck the following problem: How can I link a PDF Document to a Record in a Data Grid using Visual Studio LightSwitch 2011 and Visual Basic?
Any help would be awesome, thanks!
Here's the simplest way to do this: add a custom command to the Command Bar of the Data Grid Row for your Data Grid. In this example I'm calling the command Open PDF File. Then add this code to Execute code for the command:
partial void OpenPDFFile_Execute()
{
const string LOCAL_SERVER_PDF_DIR = #"\\MyServer\PDFs\";
const string WEB_SERVER_PDF_DIR = "http://myweb.server/PDFs/";
const string PDF_SUFFIX = ".pdf"; //assumes you do not include the extension in the db field value
if (AutomationFactory.IsAvailable)
{
//if the AutomationFactory is available, this is a desktop deployment
//use the shell to open a PDF file from the local network
dynamic shell = AutomationFactory.CreateObject("Shell.Application");
string filePath = LOCAL_SERVER_PDF_DIR + this.PDFFiles.SelectedItem.FileName + PDF_SUFFIX;
shell.ShellExecute(filePath);
}
else
{
//otherwise this must be a web deployment
//in order to make this work you must add a reference to System.Windows.Browser
//to the Client project of your LS solution
var uri = new Uri(WEB_SERVER_PDF_DIR + this.PDFFiles.SelectedItem.FileName + PDF_SUFFIX);
HtmlPage.Window.Navigate(uri, "_blank");
}
}
You will need to add the following imports to the top of your user code file to make this code compile:
using System.Runtime.InteropServices.Automation;
using System.Windows.Browser;
I should mention that you need a directory to server the PDFs up from. This example is flexible with respect to deployment, because it handles both desktop and web configurations. Since you'll need to set up the PDF directoy, you may want to just handle one configuration option to simply things (or you could expose the same PDF directory over http and as a local network share).
You may also want to present this as a true link instead of a button. In order to do this, you'll need a custom SilverLight control. In any case, I would recommend implementing the PDF link using a button first. You can then move this same code to a link event handler as a separate project if that is worth spending time on.
