I need to automatically add buttons to user form in position rigth to selected item in list box.
in excel sheet I'm adding buttons like
Sub buttonsAdd()
Dim btn As Button
Dim t As Range
LastRow = wsAuth.Cells(wsAuth.Rows.count, "A").End(xlUp).row
wsAuth.Buttons.Delete
For i = 1 To LastRow
Set t = wsAuth.Range(wsAuth.Cells(i, 6), wsAuth.Cells(i, 6))
Set btn = wsAuth.Buttons.add(t.Left, t.Top, t.Width, t.Height)
With btn
.OnAction = "btnS"
.Caption = SignInButCaption & wsAuth.Cells(i, 1).Value
.Name = "Btn" & i
.HorizontalAlignment = xlLeft
.VerticalAlignment = xlCenter
.AutoSize = False
End With
Next i
End Sub
Is there a way to add buttons to userform in the same position as listbox.selected(i)?
Is it possible to change listbox.selected(i) font size and style?

I could really use some help on this. I've read through about 60+ websites and it's either not clicking (pun intended), or it's incorrect for my application. Here's the rundown:
Goal: Use a "Submit" button that was dynamically created in a Userform to copy the Caption from an OptionButton to a dynamic cell on the worksheet, and then clear/close the Userform.
Background: The userform is called from a change in a column in the worksheet.
Here's a snippet of the code used to call the userform:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Excel.Range)
Dim lastRow As Long
With Worksheets("Test")
lastRow = .Cells(.Rows.Count, "A").End(xlUp).Row
End With
With Target
If .Count > 1 Then Exit Sub
If Not Intersect(Range("B1:B" & lastRow), .Cells) Is Nothing Then
Application.EnableEvents = False
If IsEmpty(.Value) Then
.Offset(0, 1).ClearContents
Else
With .Offset(0, 1)
.NumberFormat = "mmm dd yyyy hh:mm:ss"
.Value = Now
UserForm1.Show
End With
End If
Application.EnableEvents = True
End If
End With
End Sub
After the Userform is shown, it initializes. It pulls from a list on the spreadsheet to populate how many option buttons there are, their captions, and the dimensions of each item on the Userform. The code for that is this:
Sub UserForm_Initialize()
Dim HLastRow As Integer
Dim NoOfExplanations As Integer
Dim TopPixels As Integer
Dim UserFormHeight As Integer
Dim UserFormWidth As Integer
Dim Opt As Variant
Dim i As Integer
Dim ExplanationRow As Integer
Dim lbl As MSForms.Label
Dim LabelCap As String
Dim btn As CommandButton
Dim OtherInput As MSForms.TextBox
Dim Margins As Integer
With Worksheets("Test")
HLastRow = .Cells(.Rows.Count, "H").End(xlUp).Row
End With
NoOfExplanations = Application.WorksheetFunction.CountA(Worksheets("Test").Range("H2:H" & HLastRow))
Margins = 20
LabelCap = "You have chosen a non sequential row for your team/subteam. Please select an explanation below before you are able to proceed"
UserFormWidth = Len(LabelCap) * 2
TopPixels = (18 * 2)
UserFormHeight = TopPixels + 80 + (20 * NoOfExplanations)
With UserForm1
.Width = UserFormWidth + 40
.Height = UserFormHeight
End With
Set lbl = UserForm1.Controls.Add("Forms.Label.1")
With lbl
.Top = 10
.Left = 20
.Height = 20
.Width = UserFormWidth - 20
.Caption = LabelCap
End With
ExplanationRow = 2
For i = 1 To NoOfExplanations
Set Opt = UserForm1.Controls.Add("Forms.OptionButton.1", "OptionButton" & i, True)
Opt.Caption = Worksheets("Test").Cells(ExplanationRow, 8).Value
If Worksheets("Test").Cells(ExplanationRow, 8).Value = "Other" Then
Set OtherInput = UserForm1.Controls.Add("Forms.TextBox.1")
With OtherInput
.Top = TopPixels
.Width = UserFormWidth - (Len(Worksheets("Test").Cells(ExplanationRow, 8).Value) * 11)
.Left = UserFormWidth - (UserFormWidth - (Len(Worksheets("Test").Cells(ExplanationRow, 8).Value) * 11))
.Height = 18
End With
End If
If Len(Worksheets("Test").Cells(ExplanationRow, 8).Value) > 45 Then
Opt.Width = UserFormWidth - 10
Opt.Height = 36
Opt.Left = 18
Opt.Top = TopPixels
TopPixels = TopPixels + 38
End If
If Len(Worksheets("Test").Cells(ExplanationRow, 8).Value) <= 45 Then
Opt.Width = UserFormWidth - 10
Opt.Height = 18
Opt.Left = 18
Opt.Top = TopPixels
TopPixels = TopPixels + 20
End If
ExplanationRow = ExplanationRow + 1
Next i
Set btn = UserForm1.Controls.Add("Forms.CommandButton.1")
With btn
.Top = TopPixels
.Width = 40
.Left = ((UserFormWidth + 40) / 2) - 20
.Height = 20
.Caption = "Submit"
.Name = btn
End With
End Sub
Question: So, how do I get the btn created here in the Userform to both copy the selected OptionButton caption to the dynamic cell, and then clear/close the Userform?
I know it's a stretch, but I'm trying to fill in the cell that is two columns over from the "Target" cell that triggers the Userform to open. The code fills in the current date/time in the .Offset(0, 1) in the Worksheet_Change snipped, but is there a way to place the OptionButton caption in the cell at .Offset(0, 2)?
I'm still pretty new to VBA and this one thing is really sticking a thorn in me.
I'll be incredibly grateful for any help on this.
Thanks!
Joe
Changing your btn variable to a class level variable and using WithEvents will allow you to access the dynamic buttons events.
Private WithEvents btn As CommandButton
Private Sub btn_Click()
Dim ctrl As Control
For Each ctrl In Me.Controls
If TypeName(ctrl) = "OptionButton" Then
If ctrl.Object.Value Then
MsgBox ctrl.Object.Caption
End If
End If
Next
End Sub
I have the following code that should automatically create checkboxes.
Set t = ActiveSheet.Range(Cells(i, 10), Cells(i, 10))
Set chkb = ActiveSheet.CheckBoxes.Add(t.Left, t.Top, t.Width, t.Height)
With chkb
.Caption = ""
.Value = xlOff
.LinkedCell = "S" & i
.Display3DShading = False
.Name = "Check_" & (i - beginningRow + 2) / 2
.OnAction = "checkS"
.Placement = xlMoveAndSize
End With
But when I hide the rows it does not work and I keep seeing them. Any suggestion?
I have a loop creating 10 charts using Range Offset to increment 2 columns at a time.
The issue i have is the placement of each chart, currently they're stacking 10 charts on top of each other. Is there a way so each time the loop runs the chart position changes each time. Below is the code i currently have.
Sub charts()
'Set up the variables.
Dim rng As Range
'Use the InputBox dialog to set the range for MyFunction
Set rng = Application.InputBox("Select a range", "Obtain Range Object", Type:=8)
'Call MyFunction
ActiveCell.Value = MyFunction(rng)
End Sub
Function MyFunction(rng As Range) As Double
For i = 1 To 20 Step 2
Endrow = Range("A1").End(xlUp).Row - 1
Set Range1 = rng.Offset(Endrow, i + 1)
Sheets("All team charts").Select
MyFunction = ActiveSheet.Shapes.AddChart.Select
ActiveChart.ChartType = xlLineMarkers
ActiveChart.HasLegend = False
ActiveChart.HasTitle = True
ActiveChart.ChartTitle.Text = "Team 1"
ActiveChart.Parent.Name = "Team 1"
ActiveChart.SetSourceData Source:=Range1
With ActiveChart.Parent
.height = 200 ' resize
.width = 350 ' resize
.top = 20 ' reposition
.left = 20 ' reposition
End With
Next i
End Function
I want to add many option button to an excel worksheet (not to a VBA-form) and want to group them by row. The result should look something like this:
Here is the code I'm using so far:
For d = 1 To 31
Set checkboxKrankCell = Range("H" + Trim(Str(d)))
Set checkboxUrlaubCell = Range("I" + Trim(Str(d)))
Set checkboxJazCell = Range("J" + Trim(Str(d)))
groupWidth = checkboxKrankCell.Width + checkboxUrlaubCell.Width + checkboxJazCell.Width
Set groupBoxOptionButtons = ActiveSheet.GroupBoxes.Add(checkboxKrankCell.Left - 1, checkboxKrankCell.Top - 2, groupWidth + 1, checkboxKrankCell.Height)
With groupBoxOptionButtons
.Name = "GroupBox_" + Trim(Str(d))
.Caption = ""
End With
Set checkboxKrank = ActiveSheet.OptionButtons.Add(checkboxKrankCell.Left, checkboxKrankCell.Top - 1, checkboxKrankCell.Width, checkboxKrankCell.Height)
With checkboxKrank
.Caption = ""
End With
#1 checkboxKrank.GroupBox = groupBoxOptionButtons
Set checkboxUrlaub = ActiveSheet.OptionButtons.Add(checkboxUrlaubCell.Left, checkboxUrlaubCell.Top - 1, checkboxUrlaubCell.Width, checkboxUrlaubCell.Height)
With checkboxUrlaub
.Caption = ""
End With
Set checkboxJaz = ActiveSheet.OptionButtons.Add(checkboxJazCell.Left, checkboxJazCell.Top - 1, checkboxJazCell.Width, checkboxJazCell.Height)
With checkboxJaz
.Caption = ""
#2 .GroupBox = groupBoxOptionButtons
End With
Next d
I would expect to assign the option buttons to the group for the current row by setting the GroupBox property (see #1 or #2).
But both methods just gave me an error saying 'The object does not support the property or methode'.
Any help or hint is welcome ;-)
Based on the tip from snb I have modified my function like this:
Sub AddOptionButtons()
ActiveSheet.OptionButtons.Delete
For d = 1 To 31
Set checkboxKrankCell = Range("H" + Trim(Str(d + 4)))
Set checkboxUrlaubCell = Range("I" + Trim(Str(d + 4)))
Set checkboxJazCell = Range("J" + Trim(Str(d + 4)))
option1Name = "Krank_" + Trim(Str(d))
option2Name = "Urlaub_" + Trim(Str(d))
option3Name = "Jaz_" + Trim(Str(d))
Set checkboxKrank = ActiveSheet.OptionButtons.Add(checkboxKrankCell.Left, checkboxKrankCell.Top - 1, checkboxKrankCell.Width, checkboxKrankCell.Height)
With checkboxKrank
.Caption = ""
.Name = option1Name
End With
Set checkboxUrlaub = ActiveSheet.OptionButtons.Add(checkboxUrlaubCell.Left, checkboxUrlaubCell.Top - 1, checkboxUrlaubCell.Width, checkboxUrlaubCell.Height)
With checkboxUrlaub
.Caption = ""
.Name = option2Name
End With
Set checkboxJaz = ActiveSheet.OptionButtons.Add(checkboxJazCell.Left, checkboxJazCell.Top - 1, checkboxJazCell.Width, checkboxJazCell.Height)
With checkboxJaz
.Caption = ""
.Name = option3Name
End With
ActiveSheet.Shapes.Range(Array(option1Name, option2Name, option3Name)).Group
Next d
End Sub
I don't get any errors using Shapes.Range(...).Group.
But still all option buttons from on the sheet are all mutual exclusive.
Seems grouping does not work here.
Try the following code on an empty workbook. It will give you an option to choose only ONE optionbutton on each row, which is what you want, as far as I understood (I also created a linked cell reference, just in case you would like to take further action, given the choice of a user.):
Sub AddOptionButtons()
Dim btn1 As OptionButton
Dim btn2 As OptionButton
Dim btn3 As OptionButton
Dim grbox As GroupBox
Dim t As Range
Dim s As Range
Dim p As Range
Dim i As Integer
ActiveSheet.OptionButtons.Delete
ActiveSheet.GroupBoxes.Delete
For i = 5 To 35 Step 1
Set t = ActiveSheet.Range(Cells(i, 8), Cells(i, 8))
Set s = ActiveSheet.Range(Cells(i, 9), Cells(i, 9))
Set p = ActiveSheet.Range(Cells(i, 10), Cells(i, 10))
Set btn1 = ActiveSheet.OptionButtons.Add(t.Left, t.Top, t.Width, t.Height)
Set btn2 = ActiveSheet.OptionButtons.Add(s.Left, s.Top, s.Width, s.Height)
Set btn3 = ActiveSheet.OptionButtons.Add(p.Left, p.Top, p.Width, p.Height)
Set grbox = ActiveSheet.GroupBoxes.Add(t.Left, t.Top, t.Width + 100, t.Height)
With btn1
.Caption = ""
.Display3DShading = True
.LinkedCell = "M" & i
End With
With btn2
.Caption = ""
.Display3DShading = True
End With
With btn3
.Caption = ""
.Display3DShading = True
End With
With grbox
.Caption = ""
.Visible = False
End With
Next i
End Sub
I'd use:
Sub M_snb()
ReDim sn(2)
For j = 1 To 2
For jj = 1 To 3
With Sheet1.OptionButtons.Add(Cells(j, jj).Left, Cells(j, jj).Top - 1, Cells(j, jj).Width, Cells(j, jj).Height)
sn(jj - 1) = .Name
End With
Next
Sheet1.Shapes.Range(sn).Group
Next
End Sub
I am programming an excel application that takes info from a Tables Sheet ( that it is also programmed and the length and position of each table can change) and generate a graphic for each table in other sheet, called Estimation Sheet, when a button is press.
I managed to do this task for the first graphich (corresponding to first table) but when I try to use the same method for the second...it doesn't work. This is the method used to draw the first graphic:
Public Sub generateGraphicsC(RowResistiveC As Integer)
Dim FirstRow As Integer, FirstColumn As Integer, LastRow As Integer, LastColumn As Integer, GraphLocation As Integer
Dim XelementsC As Integer, Yelements As Integer
Dim myChtObj As ChartObject
Dim rngChtData As Range
Dim rngChtXVal As Range
Dim i As Integer
Dim WSD As Worksheet
Set WSD = Worksheets(2) 'Data source
Dim CSD As Worksheet
Set CSD = Worksheets(3) 'ChartOutput
'Dim chrt As ChartObject
'Dim cw As Long
'Dim rh As Long
' get the current charts so proper overwriting can happen Dim chtObjs As ChartObjects
Set chtObjs = CSD.ChartObjects
WSD.AutoFilterMode = False ' Turn off autofilter mode
'Dim finalRow As Long ' Find the last row with data
'finalRow = WSD.Cells(Application.Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Row
FirstRow = RowResistiveC
FirstColumn = 5
XelementsC = countXelementsC(FirstRow - 1, FirstColumn) 'Count the x Elements (amperes)
Yelements = countYelements(FirstRow) 'Count the y Elements (Combinations)
LastRow = FirstRow + Yelements - 1 'The last row and column I will read
LastColumn = FirstColumn + XelementsC - 1
'---------------------DRAW THE GRAPHIC----------------------------------------------'
' Delete any previous existing chart
'Dim chtObj As ChartObject
' define the x axis values
WSD.Activate
Set rngChtXVal = WSD.Range(Cells(FirstRow - 1, FirstColumn), Cells(FirstRow - 1, LastColumn))
' add the chart
Charts.Add
With ActiveChart
' make a XY chart
.ChartType = xlXYScatterLines
' remove extra series
Do Until .SeriesCollection.Count = 0
.SeriesCollection(1).Delete
Loop
.Location Where:=xlLocationAsObject, Name:="Estimation Sheets"
End With

Dim RngToCover As Range
Set RngToCover = ActiveSheet.Range(Cells(GraphLocation, 2), Cells(GraphLocation + 20, 11))
With ActiveChart.Parent

' add series from selected range, column by column

With .SeriesCollection.NewSeries
.Values = rngChtData
.XValues = rngChtXVal
.Name = serieName
End With
End With
Next i
'We let as last view the page with all the info
CSD.Select
End Sub
I am calling this Sub from other one. The next step will be calling a similar method (exactly the same but other starting point to get the data and some different format properties)for other kind of table and graphic:
Public Sub printGraphics()
Modul4.ClearGraphs
Modul4.generateGraphicsC (RowResistiveC)
Modul4.generateGraphicsT (RowResistiveT)
End Sub
And so on. CountXelements and Yelements counts the number of elements from the Tables Sheet and RowResistiveC, for example, keeps the position of the table.
GenerateGraphicsC works but generateGraphicsT (exactly the same) crush in the line:
With .SeriesCollection.NewSeries
Whit error 91 ( I have a german version of excel at work but it's something like variable object or bloque object not given).
As I suspected the error came from :
CSD.ChartObjects.Select
That works in my solution for the first graph since I'm selecting the single graphic on the sheet, but when I add more it doesn´t.
I just changed that line for:
CSD.ChartObjects(1).Activate
and so on. It works perfectly. I also had to make some adjusments to avoid all the graphs being plotted over the previous one, but it works nice.
