How can I run some computed in vue.js 2? - vue.js

My vue component (second component) like this :
<template>
<div class="row">
<div v-for="item in options">
<div class="panel panel-default panel-product">
....
</div>
</div>
<div>
<a href="#" class="panel-more">
<span>{{priceMin}} test {{priceMax}}</span>
</a>
</div>
</div>
</template>
<script>
...
export default {
...
computed: {
...mapGetters([
'getListByPrice', 'getPriceMin', 'getPriceMax'
]),
options() {
return this['getListByPrice']
},
priceMin() {
return this['getPriceMin']
},
priceMax() {
return this['getPriceMax']
},
},
...
}
</script>
If the code executed, the data shown does not match
If I console.log(this['getListByPrice']), there are 5 data. But shown in loops of more than 5 data
If I remove the code :
<span>{{priceMin}} test {{priceMax}}</span>
The result is correct
Why if I call priceMin and priceMax by computed, the result shown does not match?

I think that you don't need:
options() {
return this['getListByPrice']
},
priceMin() {
return this['getPriceMin']
},
priceMax() {
return this['getPriceMax']
},
Just use the items in ...mapGetters directly in your mustache tags. Also, use vue's chrome plugin to examine your vuex store.
You posted your vuex store so this comment addresses that. Your store is incorrect. price should be in your store, not priceMax and priceMin. Those are mutations of the state. Please read through the vuex docs.

VUE3 use different v-for for the same component

I have a JobComponent.vue component where I fetch data from a VUEX Store. This component is used on two separate pages, first page Home.vue and second page AllJobs.vue.
In AllJobs.vue I used JobComponent.vue and everything is works fine, it's rendering all the jobs, but, here comes the problem...
In Home.vue I want to render only the last 5 jobs, so in store I make a getter that slice me only the latest 5 jobs.
How can I use this latestJobs from getters on the same component?
When I import the component in Home.vue page I can't use another v-for direct on the component...
here you can see my project structure and files
Home.vue
<template>
<div class="cards-container">
<JobComponent />
</div>
</template>
JobComponent.vue
<template>
<div v-for="job in allJobs" :key="job.id" class="card">
<div class="position">{{ job.position }}</div>
<div class="department">{{ job.department }}</div>
<div class="location">
<span class="material-symbols-outlined">location_on</span>
{{ job.location }}
</div>
<span class="material-symbols-outlined right-arrow">arrow_right_alt</span>
<span #click="deleteJob(job.id)" class="material-symbols-outlined right-arrow">delete</span>
</div>
</template>
<script>
import { mapGetters, mapActions } from 'vuex';
export default {
methods: {
...mapActions(['fetchJobs', 'deleteJob']),
},
computed: mapGetters(['allJobs']),
created() {
this.fetchJobs();
}
}
</script>
store.js (vuex)
const getters = {
allJobs: (state) => state.jobs,
latestJobs: (state) => {
const response = state.jobs.slice(0, 5);
return response;
}
};
Your component should be as independent as possible from the store. It's role is to display what ever is provided so it could be reused as you want, using props :
JobComponent.vue
<template>
<div class="card">
<div class="position">{{ position }}</div>
<div class="department">{{ department }}</div>
<div class="location">
<span class="material-symbols-outlined">location_on</span>
{{ location }}
</div>
<span class="material-symbols-outlined right-arrow">arrow_right_alt</span>
<span #click="$emit('deleteJob', id)" class="material-symbols-outlined right-arrow">delete</span>
</div>
</template>
<script>
export default {
props: {
id: string,
position: string,
department: string,
location: string
}
}
</script>
In this component you only display the provided data, and leave the responsibility of the parent component to choose how many components to display.
Home.vue
<template>
<div class="cards-container">
<JobComponent v-for="job in jobs" :key="job.id" :id="job.id" :position="job.position" :department="job.department" :location="job.location" #delete-job="deleteJob" />
</div>
</template>
<script>
export default {
created() {
this.$store.dispatch('fetchJobs')
},
computed: {
jobs() {
return this.$store.getters['latestJobs'] // Or allJobs, just make sure your getter returns an array even if no jobs are loaded yet.
}
},
methods: {
deleteJob() {
// Your logic for job delete
}
}
}
</script>

How can I emit from component and listen from another one?

I have in Layout.vue to components one TheSidebar second TheHeader, there is a button in TheHeader to open the sidebar in TheSidebarcomponent.
I need to when I click the button in header open the sidebar:
My try:
in TheHeader:
methods: {
openSidebar() {
this.$root.$emit("open-sidebar");
},
},
in TheSidebar
data() {
return {
sidebarOpen: false,
};
},
mounted() {
this.$root.$on("open-sidebar", (this.sidebarOpen = true));
},
I'm using VUE 3 so I got this error in console: TypeError: this.$root.$on is not a function so How can communicate ?
you can use something like tiny emitter it works fine and doesn't care about parent child relationship
var emitter = require('tiny-emitter/instance');
emitter.on('open-sidebar', ({isOpen}) => {
//
});
emitter.emit('open-sidebar', {isOpen : true} );
You can only pass props to a direct child component, and
you can only emit an event to a direct parent. But
you can provide and eject from anywhere to anywhere
Per another answer, provide and eject may be your best bet in Vue 3, but I created a simple example of how to implement with props/events. Built with Vue 2 as I haven't worked with 3 yet, but should be usable in Vue 3 as well.
Parent.vue
<template>
<div class="parent">
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-6">
<h4>Parent</h4>
<hr>
<child-one #show-child-two-event="handleShowChildTwoEvent" />
<hr>
<child-two v-if="showChildTwo" />
</div>
</div>
</div>
</template>
<script>
import ChildOne from './ChildOne.vue'
import ChildTwo from './ChildTwo.vue'
export default {
components: {
ChildOne,
ChildTwo
},
data() {
return {
showChildTwo: false
}
},
methods: {
handleShowChildTwoEvent() {
this.showChildTwo = true;
}
}
}
</script>
ChildOne.vue
<template>
<div class="child-one">
<h4>Child One</h4>
<button class="btn btn-secondary" #click="showChildTwo">Show Child Two</button>
</div>
</template>
<script>
export default {
methods: {
showChildTwo() {
this.$emit('show-child-two-event');
}
}
}
</script>
ChildTwo.vue
<template>
<div class="child-two">
<h4>Child Two</h4>
</div>
</template>

Why v-model is not updating in text

<template>
<div class="card-deck mb-3 text-center">
<div class="card mb-3 box-shadow">
<div class="card-header">
Numbers Checked
</div>
<div class="card-body card-info color-accent" v-model="numbers_checked" v-text="numbers_checked">
</div>
</div>
</div>
</template>
<script>
export default {
props:
[
'overviewAnalytics',
],
data() {
return {
numbers_checked: this.overviewAnalytics.numbers_checked
};
},
created() {
this.channelTemperatureReading.listen('TemperatureReadingUpdate', reading => {
axios.get('/home/get-overview-analytics').then(resp => {
this.numbers_checked = 12; //resp.data.numbers_checked + 100;
});
});
},
computed: {
channelTemperatureReading() {
return window.Echo.channel('temperature-reading');
},
},
};
</script>
I've tried everything but text is not updating. Confirmed from every aspect that data does change.
Changes from AXIOS are coming just ok. I even tried to put custom value but no avail.
I don't what is issue here.
v-model only works on input, textarea, and select elements
You appear to be misusing computed properties which rely on reactive dependencies to execute however yours is wrapping window.Echo.channel('temperature-reading') which Vue knows nothing about.
I suggest you remove the computed property and use something like this
created() {
const channel = window.Echo.channel('temperature-reading')
channel.listen('TemperatureReadingUpdate', reading => {
axios.get('/home/get-overview-analytics').then(({ data }) => {
// console.log('get-overview-analytics', data.numbers_checked)
this.numbers_checked = data.numbers_checked + 100
})
})
}
As others have mentioned, v-model is not appropriate here so you should also remove that.
Don't use v-model with div, it's for inputs.
<div v-text="numbers_checked"></div>
From the documentation on v-model:
Usage: Create a two-way binding on a form input element or a
component.

Send data from one component to another in vue

Hi I'm trying to send data from one component to another but not sure how to approach it.
I've got one component that loops through an array of items and displays them. Then I have another component that contains a form/input and this should submit the data to the array in the other component.
I'm not sure on what I should be doing to send the date to the other component any help would be great.
Component to loop through items
<template>
<div class="container-flex">
<div class="entries">
<div class="entries__header">
<div class="entries__header__title">
<p>Name</p>
</div>
</div>
<div class="entries__content">
<ul class="entries__content__list">
<li v-for="entry in entries">
{{ entry.name }}
</li>
</ul>
</div>
<add-entry />
</div>
</div>
</template>
<script>
import addEntry from '#/components/add-entry.vue'
export default {
name: 'entry-list',
components: {
addEntry
},
data: function() {
return {
entries: [
{
name: 'Paul'
},
{
name: 'Barry'
},
{
name: 'Craig'
},
{
name: 'Zoe'
}
]
}
}
}
</script>
Component for adding / sending data
<template>
<div
class="entry-add"
v-bind:class="{ 'entry-add--open': addEntryIsOpen }">
<input
type="text"
name="addEntry"
#keyup.enter="addEntries"
v-model="newEntries">
</input>
<button #click="addEntries">Add Entries</button>
<div
class="entry-add__btn"
v-on:click="openAddEntry">
<span>+</span>
</div>
</div>
</template>
<script>
export default {
name: 'add-entry',
data: function() {
return {
addEntryIsOpen: false,
newEntries: ''
}
},
methods: {
addEntries: function() {
this.entries.push(this.newEntries);
this.newEntries = '';
},
openAddEntry() {
this.addEntryIsOpen = !this.addEntryIsOpen;
}
}
}
</script>
Sync the property between the 2:
<add-entry :entries.sync="entries"/>
Add it as a prop to the add-entry component:
props: ['entries']
Then do a shallow merge of the 2 and emit it back to the parent:
this.$emit('entries:update', [].concat(this.entries, this.newEntries))
(This was a comment but became to big :D)
Is there a way to pass in the key of name? The entry gets added but doesn't display because im looping and outputting {{ entry.name }}
That's happening probably because when you pass "complex objects" through parameters, the embed objects/collections are being seen as observable objects, even if you sync the properties, when the component is mounted, only loads first level data, in your case, the objects inside the array, this is performance friendly but sometimes a bit annoying, you have two options, the first one is to declare a computed property which returns the property passed from the parent controller, or secondly (dirty and ugly but works) is to JSON.stringify the collection passed and then JSON.parse to convert it back to an object without the observable properties.
Hope this helps you in any way.
Cheers.
So with help from #Ohgodwhy I managed to get it working. I'm not sure if it's the right way but it does seem to work without errors. Please add a better solution if there is one and I'll mark that as the answer.
I follow what Ohmygod said but the this.$emit('entries:update', [].concat(this.entries, this.newEntries)) didn't work. Well I never even need to add it.
This is my add-entry.vue component
<template>
<div
class="add-entry"
v-bind:class="{ 'add-entry--open': addEntryIsOpen }">
<input
class="add-entry__input"
type="text"
name="addEntry"
placeholder="Add Entry"
#keyup.enter="addEntries"
v-model="newEntries"
/>
<button
class="add-entry__btn"
#click="addEntries">Add</button>
</div>
</template>
<script>
export default {
name: 'add-entry',
props: ['entries'],
data: function() {
return {
addEntryIsOpen: false,
newEntries: ''
}
},
methods: {
addEntries: function() {
this.entries.push({name:this.newEntries});
this.newEntries = '';
}
}
}
</script>
And my list-entries.vue component
<template>
<div class="container-flex">
<div class="wrapper">
<div class="entries">
<div class="entries__header">
<div class="entries__header__title">
<p>Competition Entries</p>
</div>
<div class="entries__header__search">
<input
type="text"
name="Search"
class="input input--search"
placeholder="Search..."
v-model="search">
</div>
</div>
<div class="entries__content">
<ul class="entries__content__list">
<li v-for="entry in filteredEntries">
{{ entry.name }}
</li>
</ul>
</div>
<add-entry :entries.sync="entries"/>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</template>
<script>
import addEntry from '#/components/add-entry.vue'
import pickWinner from '#/components/pick-winner.vue'
export default {
name: 'entry-list',
components: {
addEntry,
pickWinner
},
data: function() {
return {
search: '',
entries: [
{
name: 'Geoff'
},
{
name: 'Stu'
},
{
name: 'Craig'
},
{
name: 'Mark'
},
{
name: 'Zoe'
}
]
}
},
computed: {
filteredEntries() {
if(this.search === '') return this.entries
return this.entries.filter(entry => {
return entry.name.toLowerCase().includes(this.search.toLowerCase())
})
}
}
}
</script>

VUE / VUEX: How To Pass Data From Parent Template To Child Template

Using VUE 2.0 and VUEX I am a bit confused about how to pass data from parent to child.
<template>
<div id="app" class="container">
<div class="card" v-for="(triad, index) in triads">
<div class="row">
<div class="col-sm-4">
<people />
</div>
<div class="col-sm-4">
<places />
</div>
<div class="col-sm-4">
<equipment />
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</template>
I am looping through an array named "triads":
state: {
triads: [
{
people: [],
places: [],
equipment: []
}
]
}
I want to send the triad variable to <people />, <places /> and <equipment />.
How do I get the content from the parent template to the child template? Thank you.
You just need to add PROP to your child components and then bind data.
E.g. <people :yourProp='triad'>
In your child components (as per docs: https://v2.vuejs.org/v2/guide/components.html#Props):
Vue.component('people', {
// declare the props
props: ['yourProp'],
// just like data, the prop can be used inside templates
// and is also made available in the vm as this.message
template: '<span>{{ yourProp }}</span>'
})
you do not need vuex to just pass data. You need Vuex to share states between components (bi-directional).
you can pass the properties down by the means of props
<template>
<div id="app" class="container">
<div class="card" v-for="(triad, index) in triads">
<div class="row">
<div class="col-sm-4">
<people :someproperty='triad'></people>
</div>
<div class="col-sm-4">
<places :someproperty='triad'></places>
</div>
<div class="col-sm-4">
<equipment :someproperty='triad'></equipement>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</template>
and inside each of these children components, mention the props like so:
export default {
props: ['someproperty']
}
I think your parent component too doesnt have access to the property directly, so you could use mapGetters in the parent to have access to it, at the same time, it follows that your state too has a getter.
state: {
triads: [
{
people: [],
places: [],
equipment: []
}
]
},
getters: {
getTriads: (state) => {
return state.triads
}
}
Now, you can use mapGetters in your parent:
import { mapGetters } from 'vuex'
export default {
computed: {
...mapGetters({
'triads': 'getTriads'
})
}
}
If that is too much of a setup, just try this
export default {
computed: {
triads () {
/**
* You could also try, return this.$store.state.triads
* but DONT do that, that defeats the purpose of using vuex.
*/
return this.$store.getters.getTriads
}
}
}
