After running a script when we make some changes and run it again the "Report" button at the top becomes inactive and the console remains blank.
Anyone facing this issue?
It only works if we clear cache memory after every run. I don't think it is an idle solution. Please share if anyone was a better solution.
I have seen this when i.e. the IEDriver.exe process is still running after the test stops.
Closing this process is then sufficient to enable the buttons (after next run).
A teardown closing all browsers should prevent this from happening.

I have a moderately complex script (create about 20 different tables, approx 1500 lines). When making changes, I only need to run the part of the code that comes after the change. I normally dont have any issues with this, but today, I selected lines 800-1500, hit ctrl + enter, and when it completed the run 6 minutes later, I found that all of the code above the line I started the run from (ie lines 1-799) had been deleted.
When I hit ctrl+z nothing happens, so somehow the change has been locked in. I have some earlier versions of the script, but there are changes in here that got deleted that I dont have saved anywhere else.
Two questions:
why is this happening? any way to prevent it from happening again? (other than stricter version control, or running the subset of the query in another query editing window)
Any way to recover the deleted code if ctrl+z doesnt work, and it's not in the query history as I didnt run that piece of it today?
notes: using BigQuery web interface for this
Something caused your browser tab to reload itself. The URL in the browser immediately updates itself with a new job_id parameter every time you execute a query, and going to that URL (via reloading the tab or otherwise) will display the exact SQL executed by that job and the resultset if the job has finished. If you've only highlighted a portion of the query -- welp, that's the query that got run so that's the query that will be displayed when you revisit that url. :(
The new "editor tabs" feature has been causing this for me: I have to click the "disable editor tabs" button at the top of the bigquery UI to prevent the page from reloading when running queries with multiple stages. But there are an endless number of possible reasons that your particular tabs might be reloading on your particular system, so here's a second fix:
Use /* */ SQL comments to block off the parts of the query that you don't want to run. The comments are part of your query and will therefore still be visible even if the browser tab reloads.
Sometimes it's useful to do something like loop an AssertElementNotVisible() until the element in question is visible. However, the takeScreenshot() event is quite slow, and each time the test fails until it succeeds, it will take a screenshot. This slows everything down. Is there a way to disable the screenshot taken on test failure?
Is there any way to configure a run configuration in IntelliJ which will stop all running process before running a new run?
I always forget to stop the previous run. So I hit to the point where it says the port is busy by the previous run. So I have to stop the previous run and restart the new run. That takes a long time. I am wondering there should be some way to simplify this process. Please let me know any idea?
p.s: I tried the macro to record multiple steps. That is not working correctly.
As JB Nizet said in the comments, you can check the Single instance only checkbox in the Run/Debug Configurationspanel.
According to the documentation:
Single instance only. In this case, a confirmation dialog box will show up every time you try to launch run/debug configuration, when one instance of the same type is still running.
If you click OK in the confirmation dialog box, the first instance of the runner will be stopped, and the next one will take its place.
If this checkbox is not selected, you can launch as many instances of the runner as required. As the result, each runner will start in its own tab of the Run tool window.
Okay, I have had the most aggravating problem with OpenFileDialog1. I have a program that I've been using for some 8 months, and in the past month, the program has begun to hang randomly when utilizing the OpenFileDialog1.ShowDialog() function. I have already read through all of the other posts about multi-threaded vs single threaded application. This did not fix it. Enabling the "Show Help" button did not fix it. I am mostly at a loss. here is a thorough walkthrough of the bug:
Run the application. I can always use the Open File button a few times with no problems. It freezes randomly after the program has been running for awhile.
The freeze happens after I push the ShowDialog button, and never displays the Open File Dialog window. The entire program locks up and hangs. If I pause it, Visual Studio doesn't show an error. It underlines the OpenFileDialog1.ShowDialog() in green, which is very odd.
I have found a way to break the freeze. Simply run a second instance of the program and use the OpenFileDialog function. As soon as it loads the file in the second instance, the first instance unfreezes. However, this is not a fix.
The only thing I can think of that may be causing this is the program also uses a WebBrowser1 control. It only seems to happen AFTER the WebBrowser control, which is on a seperate form, not the main form, has been initiated and utilized. Does this make any sense at all?
Thank you for anyone who can help me. I am about to tear my hair out.
Debug your program with dnspy, And when the software freezes, you will be able to see within the dnspy the actual code even if it is in a third party DLL.
I have solved this problem. It was quite unsolveable based on my description above, but hopefully I will help someone with this solution. The error is related to using the IE11 Emulation Control (11000) in the WebBrowser1 control. For some reason this interferes with OpenFileDialog and causes it to hang. I have no idea why. I changed my WebBrowser1 to use IE9 Emulation Control (9999) and the error has gone away. Thank you to those who looked into this. This is a registry entry in HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
Got very annoying thing while hard working - Intellij IDEA thinks that I always should have a look at event which is important as it considers.
No, Skyline, it's not such important as you think =)
For example I run a heavy code and while it's running, I'm looking at something else in browser, or making notes in editor AND BANG!!:
since debug breakpoint was met in my application - IDEA makes its window active and overlaps all others.
There were plenty of situations when I was typing smthg, even login info in input fields and in that moment IDEA came on top of windows so I was interrupted, made mistakes, sent info to wrong resource etc. and get angry.
Is there any chance to tell IDEA to be silent at least on debug events?
I want IDEA to switch its window to breakpoint place in code BUT I don't want IDEA to make its ON TOP on my screen at that moment.
thank you.
Try to disable Settings | Build, Execution, Deployment | Debugger | Focus application on breakpoint:
