I have to pass form data in body part. here is postman screen short for better understanding.
body part
content type
here is my code what I had try.
NSString *Accesstoken = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"Bearer %#",tokenInfo.access_token];
// parameter is String object : "user_id=18&deal_id=218"
//NSDictionary *tmp = [[NSDictionary alloc] initWithObjectsAndKeys:
#"user_id", #"18487",
#"deal_id", #"218",
nil];
// NSError *errorr;
// NSData *postdata = [NSJSONSerialization dataWithJSONObject:tmp options:0 error:&errorr];
[request setValue:Accesstoken forHTTPHeaderField:#"Authorization"];
[request setValue:#"application/json" forHTTPHeaderField:#"Content-Type"];
[request setHTTPMethod:#"POST"];
[request setValue:postLength forHTTPHeaderField:#"Content-Length"];
// NSData *postData = [parameter dataUsingEncoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding allowLossyConversion:YES];
NSString *postLength = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"%lu", (unsigned long)[postData length]];
// [request setHTTPBody:postData];;
// [request setHTTPBody:[parameter dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]];
// [request setHTTPBody:[NSJSONSerialization dataWithJSONObject:#{#"user_id":#"18487",#"deal_id":#"218" } options:0 error:nil]];
for above code I am getting http status code : 404 its wrong. and when I try in postman I am getting 401 its perfect I want that. Please help Thanks.

Just export the request from POSTMAN in objective-C : https://www.getpostman.com/docs/postman/sending_api_requests/generate_code_snippets

post request to server does not send the content of textfields?

I'm trying to send the content of my textfields firstname and lastname with my button sendpost to my php server. Once I run my app and fill my textfields with some random text and press send, I receive an e-mail on my server but there is no content.
(void) sendAction{
NSError *error = nil;
NSString *postparams = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"info=%#_%#",firstname.text,lastname.text];
NSData * postdata = [postparams dataUsingEncoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding allowLossyConversion:YES];
NSString * postlength= [NSString stringWithFormat:#"%d",[postdata length]];
NSMutableURLRequest *request = [[NSMutableURLRequest alloc]init];
[request setURL:[NSURL URLWithString:#"http://faketest.com/test/mail.php"]];
[request setHTTPMethod:#"POST"];
[request setValue:postlength forHTTPHeaderField:#"Content-Length"];
[request setValue:#"application/x-www-form-urlencoded" forHTTPHeaderField:#"Current-Type"];
[request setHTTPBody:postdata];
NSData * rawdata = [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:request returningResponse:nil error:&error];
NSString *rawdatastring =[[NSString alloc]initWithData:rawdata encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding];
NSLog(#"%#",rawdatastring);
}
I believe it may be because you're using a "Current-Type" header, instead of the usual "Content-Type" header. Try the following and see if it solves the problem:
[request setValue:#"application/x-www-form-urlencoded" forHTTPHeaderField:#"Content-Type"];

Can't POST a request to service

For some reason I always get Endpoint not found., but when I put it in the browser it works perfectly. I'm sure doing something wrong..
- (void)requestLoad:(NSString *)req_udid Age:(NSString *)req_age Gender:(NSString *)req_gender CheckBoxes:(NSString *)req_checkBoxes
{
NSString *post = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"/UpdatePersonalInterests/%#/%#/%#/%#/0",req_udid, req_age, req_gender, req_checkBoxes];
NSData *postData = [post dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding allowLossyConversion:YES];
//set up the request to the website
NSMutableURLRequest *request = [[NSMutableURLRequest alloc] init];
[request setURL:[NSURL URLWithString:NSLocalizedStringFromTable(#"kServiceURL", #"urls", nil)]];
[request setHTTPMethod:#"POST"];
[request setValue:#"application/x-www-form-urlencoded" forHTTPHeaderField:#"Content-Type"];
[request setValue:[NSString stringWithFormat:#"%d", [postData length]] forHTTPHeaderField:#"Content-Length"];
[request setHTTPBody:postData];
NSError *error;
NSURLResponse *response;
NSData *urlData = [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:request returningResponse:&response error:&error];
NSString *result = [[NSString alloc]initWithData:urlData encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding];
NSLog(#"%#",result);
}
Thanks!
It looks like you are using a Custom Service scheme. Did you register it in Target -> info - URLS Types? See the Apple Docs or Registering custom URL Schemes: Implementing Custom URL Schemes
So I've managed to do this with NSURLConnection and asynchronous request with this code:
- (void)getIntrests
{
NSString *req_udid = [PROUtils createOrLoadUserIdentifier];
NSString *webaddress = [kServiceBaseURL stringByAppendingString:[NSString stringWithFormat:#"/GetPersonalInterestsForUdid/%#",req_udid]];
NSURLRequest *request = [[NSURLRequest alloc] initWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:webaddress] cachePolicy:NSURLRequestReloadIgnoringCacheData timeoutInterval:20];
[NSURLConnection sendAsynchronousRequest:request queue:[NSOperationQueue mainQueue] completionHandler:
^(NSURLResponse* response, NSData* data, NSError* error) {
NSString* dataString = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:data encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding];
[[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] postNotificationName:kGotMediaFromServer object:dataString];
NSLog(#"Update response completed: %# with data: %# error: %#",response,dataString,error);
}];
}
Hope that it will be useful for someone.

Sending JSON through POST not working - Objective C

I am sending a JSON string to our server using the POST method. What should happen is that it should return a response showing "Array(JSON String) Array(JSON String)". The response contains two arrays: The first array is populated if I used the POST method, while the second array is populated if I use the GET method. I tried sending the JSON through GET method and indeed, the second array was populated. However, when I tried to send JSON through POST method, both arrays are returned empty.
Here is the code I used:
NSData *requestData = [NSJSONSerialization dataWithJSONObject:sqlArray options:NSJSONWritingPrettyPrinted error:&error];
NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:#"http://myurl/xmlrpc/imwebsrvcjson.php"];
NSMutableURLRequest *request = [NSMutableURLRequest requestWithURL:url cachePolicy:NSURLRequestUseProtocolCachePolicy timeoutInterval:60];
[request setHTTPMethod:#"POST"];
[request setValue:#"application/json" forHTTPHeaderField:#"Accept"];
[request setValue:#"application/json" forHTTPHeaderField:#"Content-Type"];
[request setValue:[NSString stringWithFormat:#"%d", [requestData length]] forHTTPHeaderField:#"Content-Length"];
[request setHTTPBody:requestData];
NSData *result =[NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:request returningResponse:&response error:&error];
NSString *returnString = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:result encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding];
if (error == nil){
NSLog(#"The Result string: %#", returnString);
}
Can you tell me what is wrong with my code?
Here's what I do (please note that the JSON going to my server needs to be a dictionary with one value (another dictionary) for key = question..i.e. {:question => { dictionary } } ):
NSArray *objects = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]valueForKey:#"StoreNickName"],
[[UIDevice currentDevice] uniqueIdentifier], [dict objectForKey:#"user_question"], nil];
NSArray *keys = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:#"nick_name", #"UDID", #"user_question", nil];
NSDictionary *questionDict = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjects:objects forKeys:keys];
NSDictionary *jsonDict = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObject:questionDict forKey:#"question"];
NSString *jsonRequest = [jsonDict JSONRepresentation];
NSLog(#"jsonRequest is %#", jsonRequest);
NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:#"https://xxxxxxx.com/questions"];
NSMutableURLRequest *request = [NSMutableURLRequest requestWithURL:url
cachePolicy:NSURLRequestUseProtocolCachePolicy timeoutInterval:60.0];
NSData *requestData = [NSData dataWithBytes:[jsonRequest UTF8String] length:[jsonRequest length]];
[request setHTTPMethod:#"POST"];
[request setValue:#"application/json" forHTTPHeaderField:#"Accept"];
[request setValue:#"application/json" forHTTPHeaderField:#"Content-Type"];
[request setValue:[NSString stringWithFormat:#"%d", [requestData length]] forHTTPHeaderField:#"Content-Length"];
[request setHTTPBody: requestData];
NSURLConnection *connection = [[NSURLConnection alloc]initWithRequest:request delegate:self];
if (connection) {
receivedData = [[NSMutableData data] retain];
}
The receivedData is then handled by:
NSString *jsonString = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:data encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding];
NSDictionary *jsonDict = [jsonString JSONValue];
NSDictionary *question = [jsonDict objectForKey:#"question"];
This isn't 100% clear and will take some re-reading, but everything should be here to get you started. And from what I can tell, this is asynchronous. My UI is not locked up while these calls are made. Hope that helps.

iOS http post response to NSDictionary or NSArray

I'm making a HTTP Post and I would like to know how to convert the response to NSDictionary, or NSArray. Here's my code:
NSString *post = [NSString stringWithFormat: #"SomeData=text", text];
NSData *postData = [post dataUsingEncoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding allowLossyConversion:YES];
NSString *postLength = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"%d", [postData length]];
NSMutableURLRequest *request = [[[NSMutableURLRequest alloc] init] autorelease];
[request setURL:[NSURL URLWithString:#"https://www.my.site/receiver"]];
[request setHTTPMethod:#"POST"];
[request setValue:postLength forHTTPHeaderField:#"Content-Length"];
[request setValue:#"application/x-www-form-urlencoded" forHTTPHeaderField:#"Content-Type"];
[request setHTTPBody:postData];
NSURLResponse *response;
NSError *err;
NSData *responseData = [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:request returningResponse:&response error:&err];
EDIT:
The response looks like this after converting like this:
NSString *string = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:responseData encoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding];

You need to use some kind of parser for that. If the response is in XML you could use NSXMLParser. Here you can find a tutorial on how to use it. The same concept applies for any other kind of data. You have to know beforehand what to expect so you can parse it properly.
I hope it helps

connection failed : Bad Url (null) error while sending POST data from Xcode to classic ASP page.

In my iphone project, I need to pass member Id and pwd to a web server. I have tried my code with Synchronous as well as asynchronous request but I always get error : connection failed: Bad URL (null). can any one please help me to find what's wrong with the code?
My code:
NSString *post =[NSString stringWithFormat:#"memberId=%#&pwd=%#",txtUName.text,txtPwd.text];
NSLog(#"%#",post);
NSURL *url = [NSURL
URLWithString:#"http://testweb.talkfusion.com/videocenter/xlogin.asp%#"];
NSData *postData = [post dataUsingEncoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding
allowLossyConversion:YES];
NSString *postLength = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"%d", [postData length]];
//set up the request to the website
NSMutableURLRequest *request = [[[NSMutableURLRequest alloc] init] autorelease];
[request setURL:url];
[request setHTTPMethod:#"POST"];
[request setValue:postLength forHTTPHeaderField:#"Content-Length"];
[request setValue:#"application/x-www-form-urlencoded" forHTTPHeaderField:#"Content-Type"];
[request setHTTPBody:postData];
NSError *error;
NSURLResponse *response;
NSData *urlData=[NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:request returningResponse:&response error:&error];
NSString *data=[[NSString alloc]initWithData:urlData encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding];
NSLog(#"%#",data);
NSLog(#"Connection failed! Error - %# %#",
[error localizedDescription],
[[error userInfo] objectForKey:NSURLErrorFailingURLStringErrorKey]);
The %# at the end in your url is wrong. POST-data are not part of the url.
