I would like to make a wrapper component using Apollo, which receives different GraphQL queries and variables within props, queries GraphQL source and and passes response to its child component. I would like to use this component twice on a page with different queries.
But I think I'm stuck at some point. I end up having both instances of the component working with same inputs: query prop of the first dropdown component is being used in all dropdowns on the page. Although they have a different scope, different keywords and items, all dropdowns on the page are using the query of first dropdown.
Here is my DropdownSearch component. It passes keyword from searchbar component to query-list component:
<template>
<div class="dropdown-search">
<div class="dropdown-search-display" #click="toggleDropdown">
<span>{{value[nameProp]}}</span>
<span class="dropdown-search-dropdown-toggle">
<i v-if="!isOpen" class="fa fa-caret-down" aria-hidden="true"></i>
<i v-if="isOpen" class="fa fa-caret-up" aria-hidden="true"></i>
</span>
</div>
<div :class="{ 'dropdown-search-dropdown': true, 'dropdown-search-dropdown--open': isOpen}" >
<search-bar v-model="searchKeyword" class="dropdown-search-searchbar"></search-bar>
<div class="dropdown-search-list">
<query-list
:query="query"
:keyword="searchKeyword"
:listItemComponent="ListItem"
></query-list>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</template>
<script>
const ListItem = {
template: '<div class="dropdown-search-list-item">{{record.name}}</div>',
props: {
record: { required: true },
},
};
export default {
name: 'dropdownSearch',
props: {
name: String,
nameProp: String,
value: Object,
query: Object,
},
components: {
'dropdown-list-item': ListItem,
},
data() {
return {
isOpen: false,
searchKeyword: '',
ListItem,
};
},
methods: {
toggleDropdown() {
this.isOpen = !this.isOpen;
},
},
};
</script>
QueryList component, which is using Apollo to make queries and displays a list of results:
<template>
<div class="">
<loading-indicator :isLoading="loading > 0"></loading-indicator>
<ul class="app__list">
<li class="app__list-item" v-for="item in items" :key="item.id">
<component
:is="listItemComponent"
:record="item"
></component>
</li>
</ul>
</div>
</template>
<script>
export default {
name: 'queryList',
props: {
query: Object,
keyword: String,
listItemComponent: { required: true },
},
data() {
return {
items: [],
loading: 0,
};
},
apollo: {
items: {
query() {
return this.query;
},
variables() {
return {
keyword: this.keyword || '',
};
},
loadingKey: 'loading',
},
},
};
</script>
This is how I use Dropdown Search components on a page:
<label class="edit-record-field">
<span class="edit-record-field-label">Category</span>
<dropdown-search
class="edit-record-field-input"
v-model="record.category"
:nameProp="'name'"
:query="getCategories"
></dropdown-search>
</label>
<label class="edit-record-field">
<span class="edit-record-field-label">Location</span>
<dropdown-search
class="edit-record-field-input"
v-model="record.location"
:nameProp="'name'"
:query="getLocation"
></dropdown-search>
</label>
I'm looking for a solution. I would be grateful if you could help me to make my components working.

So the problem I'm facing is that I have a template that fetches data from a Realtime Firebase Database and at the same time the user can import more data through an input element. I'm using Vue.js and I need the data to be bound to each other.
Here is my template:
<template>
<ul>
<li>
<input type="text" v-model="email" v-on:keyup.enter="addData()"/>
<img #click="addData()" src="#/assets/Plus.png" />
</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li v-for="(item, key) in emails" :key="key">
<div>
<p>{{ item.data }}</p>
<img #click="deleteDataByKey(key)" src="#/assets/Delete.png" />
</div>
<div class="first">
<input type="text" v-model="comment[key]" v-on:keyup.enter="addComment(key, comment[key])"/>
<img #click="addComment(key, comment[key])" src="#/assets/Plus.png" />
</div>
<div class="second">
<p>{{ comment[key] }}</p>
<img #click="deleteCommentByKey(key)" src="#/assets/Delete.png" />
</div>
</li>
</ul>
</template>
Now what is happening is that I want to show <div class="first"> when there is no comment and when there is one, <div class="second"> should be shown while hiding the first one.
I tried using v-if="comment[key]" but it will toggle the divs straight away.
I also tried to v-model.lazy which seems to be working but then the method to update the db is not called.
I tried using pure JS in the method to change the HTML but it doesn't seem to be working as well.
These are my methods and data:
data() {
return {
emailList: [],
email: "",
comment: []
};
},
addData() {
db.ref("emailItems").push({
data: data
});
this.email = "";
this.fetchData();
},
deleteDataByKey(key) {
db.ref("emailItems"+key).remove();
this.fetchData();
},
addComment(key, comment) {
db.ref(`emailItems/${key}/comment`).set(comment);
},
deleteCommentByKey(key){
db.ref("comment/"+key).remove();
this.fetchData();
},
fetchData() {
db.ref("emailItems")
.once("value")
.then(snapshot => {
this.emailList = snapshot.val().emailItems;
});
}
And the db structure looks like this
Any help would be highly appreciated...
I think you should build more on the (arguably) biggest features of Vue, namely: reactivity & components.
Break down the logic a bit more, until you arrive at elements that do only one thing - those elements can be your components. Then build up the business logic from those atomic components.
Vue.component('NewEmail', {
data() {
return {
email: null,
}
},
methods: {
handleKeyup() {
this.$emit("add-email", {
email: this.email,
comment: null
})
this.email = null
}
},
template: `
<div>
<label>
NEW EMAIL: <input
type="email"
placeholder="Type in an email"
v-model="email"
#keyup.enter="handleKeyup"
/>
</label>
</div>
`
})
Vue.component('SingleEmailRow', {
props: {
email: {
type: Object,
default: null,
}
},
methods: {
handleDeleteClick() {
this.$emit('remove-email', this.email)
},
},
template: `
<li
class="d-flex"
>
<div>
{{ email.email }}
</div>
<div>
<button
#click="handleDeleteClick"
>
X
</button>
</div>
<component
:is="email.comment ? 'HasEmailComment' : 'NoEmailComment'"
:email="email"
v-on="$listeners"
></component>
</li>
`
})
Vue.component('HasEmailComment', {
props: {
email: {
type: Object,
required: true
}
},
methods: {
handleUpdateComment() {
this.$emit('update:comment', { ...this.email,
comment: null
})
}
},
template: `
<div
class="d-flex"
>
<div>
{{ email.comment }}
</div>
<button
title="Remove comment"
#click="handleUpdateComment"
>
-
</button>
</div>
`
})
Vue.component('NoEmailComment', {
props: {
email: {
type: Object,
required: true
}
},
data() {
return {
comment: null,
}
},
methods: {
handleUpdateComment() {
this.$emit('update:comment', { ...this.email,
comment: this.comment
})
}
},
template: `
<div
class="d-flex"
>
<div>
<input
v-model="comment"
type="text"
placeholder="Write a comment"
/>
</div>
<button
title="Add comment"
#click="handleUpdateComment"
>
+
</button>
</div>
`
})
new Vue({
el: "#app",
data() {
return {
emailList: [],
}
},
methods: {
handleAddEmail(newEmail) {
if (!this.emailList.find(({
email
}) => email === newEmail.email)) {
this.emailList.push(newEmail)
}
},
handleRemoveEmail(toRemove) {
this.emailList = this.emailList.filter(({
email
}) => {
return email !== toRemove.email
})
},
handleUpdateComment(newEmail) {
this.emailList = this.emailList.map(email => {
if (email.email === newEmail.email) {
return newEmail
} else {
return email
}
})
}
}
})
.d-flex {
display: flex;
}
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/vue/2.5.17/vue.js"></script>
<div id="app">
<new-email #add-email="handleAddEmail"></new-email>
<ul v-for="(email, i) in emailList" :key="i">
<single-email-row :email="email" #remove-email="handleRemoveEmail" #update:comment="handleUpdateComment"></single-email-row>
</ul>
</div>
OK, the comment handling in SingleEmailRow could be put to its separate component (based on my thoughts above).
The main points in the snippet above are:
there's only one original data source (emailList in the root component) that is passed down as props where needed, and all the other components & functions just manipulate THAT list via events (reactivity is great!)
because all the components are based on one central data source, they just have to work with the item they get as props. (Ok, they have some internal state, but hey - this is only a snippet! :) )
the two components have only one responsibility:
NewEmail: to add an item to the central emailList
SingleEmailRow: to manage the data in ONE email item
I hope this helps you a bit to reach a solution for your problem.
EDIT: UPDATING SNIPPET
I had to update the snippet, because I wasn't satisfied with it.
Modifications:
adding two new components: HasEmailComment, NoEmailComment
updated SingleEmailRow with the two new components
Now, all the components have only one task to do.
I have website for online tests.
One of the question that i have created on the test its topic "Fill in the blank", which means fill in the blank spaces words.
The question comes from the server as a string like that "Today is a [1] day, and i should [2] today".
What i want to do is to get that string and replace all the [] with el-input.
I have done something like that
<template>
<div class="d-flex flex-column mg-t-20 pd-10">
<h6 class="tx-gray-800">Fill in the blank areas the missing words</h6>
<div class="mg-t-20" v-html="generateFillBlankQuestion(question.question)" />
</div>
</template>
<script>
export default {
name: 'FillBlank',
directives: {},
props: [ 'question' ],
components: {
},
computed: {},
data() {
return {
input: ''
}
},
filters: {},
created() {
},
methods: {
generateFillBlankQuestion(question) {
var matches = question.match((/\[\d\]/g))
console.log(matches)
matches.forEach((element) => {
console.log(element)
question = question.replace(element, '<el-input />')
})
console.log(question)
return question
}
}
}
On this line question = question.replace(element, '<el-input />') I'm replacing the [] to input.
For some reason when i try to replace it to <el-input> it doesn't render it.
But if i use <input type='text'> it renders it.
Is it possible to inject el elements?
If you are not using the Vue run-time template compiler you can not render Vue components inside v-html. You should do something like this:
<template>
<div class="d-flex flex-column mg-t-20 pd-10">
<h6 class="tx-gray-800">Fill in the blank areas the missing words</h6>
<div class="mg-t-20">
<template v-for="(word,idx) in wordList">
<el-input v-if="word.blank" v-model="word.value" :key="idx" />
<template v-else>{{ word.text }}</template>
</template>
</div>
</div>
</template>
<script>
export default
{
name: 'FillBlank',
props:
{
question:
{
type: String,
default: ''
}
},
computed:
{
wordList()
{
const words = this.question.split(' ');
return words.map(word =>
({
value: '',
text: word,
blank: /^\[\d+\]$/.test(word),
}));
}
}
}
I am new to vue.js so maybe i'm missing something obvious. I have created 2 components Content.vue & ViewMore.vue. I am passing property "genre" which is inside array "animesByGenre" in Content.vue to ViewMore.vue but somehow it is not working.
Here is the Content.vue component:
<div v-for="(animesAndGenre, index) in animesByGenres" :key="index"
id="row1" class="container">
<h5>
{{animesAndGenre.genre.toUpperCase()}}
<button class="viewMore" v-bind:genre="animesAndGenre.genre"><router-link :to="{name: 'viewmore'}">view more</router-link></button>
</h5>
<vs-row vs-justify="center" class="row">
<vs-col v-for="(anime, i) in animesAndGenre.animes" :key="i"
vs-type="flex" vs-justify="center"
vs-align="center" vs-w="2" class="animeCard">
<vs-card actionable class="cardx">
<div slot="header" class="cardTitle">
<strong>
{{anime.attributes.canonicalTitle}}
</strong>
</div>
<div slot="media">
<img :src="anime.attributes.posterImage.medium">
</div>
<div>
<span>Rating: {{anime.attributes.averageRating}}</span>
</div>
<div slot="footer">
<vs-row vs-justify="center">
<vs-button #click="addAnimeToWatchlist(anime)"
color="primary" vs-type="gradient" >
Add to Watchlist
</vs-button>
</vs-row>
</div>
</vs-card>
</vs-col>
</vs-row>
</div>
<script>
import ViewMore from './ViewMore.vue';
import axios from 'axios'
export default {
name: 'Content',
components: {
'ViewMore': ViewMore,
},
data () {
return {
nextButton: false,
prevButton: false,
viewMoreButton: false,
results: '',
animes: '',
genres: ['adventure', 'action', 'thriller', 'mystery', 'horror'],
animesByGenres: []
}
},
created() {
this.getAnimes();
// this.getRowAnime();
this.genres.forEach( (genre) => {
this.getAnimeByGenres(genre);
});
},
}
</script>
Here is the ViewMore.vue component (i'm just trying to log genre for now):
<template>
<div>
</div>
</template>
<script>
import axios from 'axios'
export default {
props: {
genre: {
type: String,
required: true,
},
},
data() {
return {
allAnimes: '',
}
},
created() {
console.log(this.genre);
}
}
</script>
Passing props to routes doesn't work like that. Right now, all this code is doing is applying the genre prop to the button itself, not to the route it's going to. You'll need to add the genre to the URL as a param (/viewmore/:genre/), or as a part of the query (/viewmore?genre=...). See this page for how that works
In my project, I use vue.js.
I want to display content of list with nested loop。 In parent page, i have defined:
<template>
<div>
<detail-header></detail-header>
......
<detail-list></detail-list>
</div>
</template>
The component of detail-list is :
<template>
<div>
<div v-for="(item, index) of list" :key="index">
<div class="item-title border-bottom">
<span class="item-title-icon"></span>
{{item.title}}
</div>
<div v-if="item.children" class="item-children">
<detail-list :list="item.children"></detail-list>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</template>
<script>
export default {
name: 'DetailList',
props: {
list: Array
},
data () {
return {
list: [{
title: 'adult',
children: [{title: 'threePeople',children: [{ title: 'threePeople-w'}]}, {title: 'fivePeople'}]
}, {
title: 'student'
}, {
title: 'child'
}, {
title: 'offer'
}]
}
}
}
</script>
unlucky, I got a error message:
Duplicated key 'list' of list: [{ in detail-list
who can help me ?
If you want this to work, keep the list in props (and remove it from DetailList's data) and define in your parent page's data.
So the first DetailList and its children will have the list as a prop.
So you'll have in the parent page :
<template>
<div>
<detail-header></detail-header>
......
<detail-list :list="list"></detail-list>
</div>
</template>
<script>
export default {
name: 'Parent',
data () {
return {
list: [{ ... the list ... }]
}
}
Hi I'm trying to send data from one component to another but not sure how to approach it.
I've got one component that loops through an array of items and displays them. Then I have another component that contains a form/input and this should submit the data to the array in the other component.
I'm not sure on what I should be doing to send the date to the other component any help would be great.
Component to loop through items
<template>
<div class="container-flex">
<div class="entries">
<div class="entries__header">
<div class="entries__header__title">
<p>Name</p>
</div>
</div>
<div class="entries__content">
<ul class="entries__content__list">
<li v-for="entry in entries">
{{ entry.name }}
</li>
</ul>
</div>
<add-entry />
</div>
</div>
</template>
<script>
import addEntry from '#/components/add-entry.vue'
export default {
name: 'entry-list',
components: {
addEntry
},
data: function() {
return {
entries: [
{
name: 'Paul'
},
{
name: 'Barry'
},
{
name: 'Craig'
},
{
name: 'Zoe'
}
]
}
}
}
</script>
Component for adding / sending data
<template>
<div
class="entry-add"
v-bind:class="{ 'entry-add--open': addEntryIsOpen }">
<input
type="text"
name="addEntry"
#keyup.enter="addEntries"
v-model="newEntries">
</input>
<button #click="addEntries">Add Entries</button>
<div
class="entry-add__btn"
v-on:click="openAddEntry">
<span>+</span>
</div>
</div>
</template>
<script>
export default {
name: 'add-entry',
data: function() {
return {
addEntryIsOpen: false,
newEntries: ''
}
},
methods: {
addEntries: function() {
this.entries.push(this.newEntries);
this.newEntries = '';
},
openAddEntry() {
this.addEntryIsOpen = !this.addEntryIsOpen;
}
}
}
</script>
Sync the property between the 2:
<add-entry :entries.sync="entries"/>
Add it as a prop to the add-entry component:
props: ['entries']
Then do a shallow merge of the 2 and emit it back to the parent:
this.$emit('entries:update', [].concat(this.entries, this.newEntries))
(This was a comment but became to big :D)
Is there a way to pass in the key of name? The entry gets added but doesn't display because im looping and outputting {{ entry.name }}
That's happening probably because when you pass "complex objects" through parameters, the embed objects/collections are being seen as observable objects, even if you sync the properties, when the component is mounted, only loads first level data, in your case, the objects inside the array, this is performance friendly but sometimes a bit annoying, you have two options, the first one is to declare a computed property which returns the property passed from the parent controller, or secondly (dirty and ugly but works) is to JSON.stringify the collection passed and then JSON.parse to convert it back to an object without the observable properties.
Hope this helps you in any way.
Cheers.
So with help from #Ohgodwhy I managed to get it working. I'm not sure if it's the right way but it does seem to work without errors. Please add a better solution if there is one and I'll mark that as the answer.
I follow what Ohmygod said but the this.$emit('entries:update', [].concat(this.entries, this.newEntries)) didn't work. Well I never even need to add it.
This is my add-entry.vue component
<template>
<div
class="add-entry"
v-bind:class="{ 'add-entry--open': addEntryIsOpen }">
<input
class="add-entry__input"
type="text"
name="addEntry"
placeholder="Add Entry"
#keyup.enter="addEntries"
v-model="newEntries"
/>
<button
class="add-entry__btn"
#click="addEntries">Add</button>
</div>
</template>
<script>
export default {
name: 'add-entry',
props: ['entries'],
data: function() {
return {
addEntryIsOpen: false,
newEntries: ''
}
},
methods: {
addEntries: function() {
this.entries.push({name:this.newEntries});
this.newEntries = '';
}
}
}
</script>
And my list-entries.vue component
<template>
<div class="container-flex">

</div>
<div class="entries__content">
<ul class="entries__content__list">
<li v-for="entry in filteredEntries">
{{ entry.name }}

</div>
<add-entry :entries.sync="entries"/>
</div>
</div>
