I solved it, it turns out that I just used the wrong data type which in my case is decimal I should've thought of REAL here is the final query a.CSP/CAST(b.Total as REAL)

I have the script below setup in AWS Athena, the goal is to replace some budget numbers (total) with 0 if they are within a certain category (costitemid). Your syntax is wrong (at least according to most SQL dialects.) You can't generally say "SELECT CASE WHEN (condition) THEN (this select clause) ELSE (that select clause) END FROM (tables)"
You can only use CASE to calculate a single value.
But it looks as if the only change between your two inner SELECT clauses is whether you use 0 or the quantity in the final multiplication. And that is perfect for a CASE!
I do not guarantee this will work right off the bat, because I don't have your setup or an idea of your table layout. However, it's a step in the right direction:

This could solve your problem if you want to sum the items for each project and year and status except for certain line items. Here, it is correct to use a "where" condition and not "case when" :

I am trying to use COUNT(DISTINC column) OVER(PARTITION BY column) when I am using COUNT + window function(OVER).
I get an error like the one in the title and can't get it to work.
I have looked into how to deal with this error, but I have not found an example of how to deal with such a complex query as the one below.

DISTINCT will look for duplicates and remove it, but in big data it will take a lot of time to process this query, you should process the middle of the record in the programming part I think it will be fast than. Thank

All the joins and from statements are done it runs without error when there is no arithmetic to be done but with the multiplication it gives an error. Not sure what to do. Any help would be appreciated thanks in advance.

job_duration does not exist until the query gets executed you can do it by nesting into another sql clause or by doing this:

I'm currently working on some sql stuff, but running in a bit of an issue.
I've got this method that looks for cash transactions, and takes off the cashback but sometimes there are no cash transactions, so that value turns into NULL and you can't subtract from NULL.
I've tried to put an ISNULL around it, but it still turns into null.
Can anyone help me with this?

Maybe COALESCE() can help you?
You can try this:
SUM(COALESCE(tp.payment_amount, 0))
or
COALESCE(SUM(tp.payment_amount), 0)
COALESCE(arg1, arg2, ..., argN) returns the first non-null argument from the list.
try to put ISNULL inside SUM and ABS, i.e. around the actual field, like this
SUM(ISNULL(tp.payment_amount, 0))
SUM(ABS(ISNULL(tp.payment_amount, 0)))
I don't have MS SQL to test here, but would it work to put the ISNULL around the SELECT? Maybe, ISNULL isn't triggered at all, if there are no matching rows...

I added the second nested SELECT statement because the user_name in the user table was not being returned in the outermost query. But now the leaderboard_entry_youngness_based_on_expiry field, which is being generated based on a row index ratio, is not working correctly.
If I remove the second nested SELECT statement, the leaderboard_entry_youngness_based_on_expiry works as expected, but the user_name column is not returned.
How can I satisfy both? Why is this happening?

In your inner SELECT statement, you do not have user.user_name, that's why username is not returned. Remove the outer query, do it like earlier but with user.user_name like this:

Try putting a ORDER BY in the inner most query, since there currently is no ORDER BY clause, its wrong to say that "is not working correctly".
Check if you take away the outer SELECT * FROM..., see if there are duplicate user_name columns.
BTW, Since you are not using the row index columns in your query, why not just put this logic in the application itself? it will be more reliable doing so.
