Edit worker additional data using Workday API - api

I'd like to edit custom employee data in Workday using their API but the actual custom data format is not specified in the documentation. Also, I was not able to find a way to retrieve additional worker data. Google doesn't find any examples of using their API for this (Edit_Worker_Additional_Data function).

This is how the SOAP request would look like, including all optional parameters.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<env:Envelope
xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
<env:Body>
<wd:Edit_Worker_Additional_Data_Request
xmlns:wd="urn:com.workday/bsvc"
wd:version="v28.0">
<wd:Business_Process_Parameters>
<wd:Auto_Complete>true</wd:Auto_Complete>
<wd:Run_Now>true</wd:Run_Now>
<wd:Comment_Data>
<wd:Comment>abcdef</wd:Comment>
<wd:Worker_Reference>
<wd:ID wd:type="Contingent_Worker_ID">abcdef</wd:ID>
</wd:Worker_Reference>
</wd:Comment_Data>
</wd:Business_Process_Parameters>
<wd:Worker_Custom_Object_Data>
<wd:Effective_Date>2017-07-20</wd:Effective_Date>
<wd:Worker_Reference>
<wd:ID wd:type="Contingent_Worker_ID">abcdef</wd:ID>
</wd:Worker_Reference>
<wd:Business_Object_Additional_Data></wd:Business_Object_Additional_Data>
</wd:Worker_Custom_Object_Data>
</wd:Edit_Worker_Additional_Data_Request>
</env:Body>
</env:Envelope>
You have to define the Custom Object (or Additional Data) elements within
<wd:Business_Object_Additional_Data></wd:Business_Object_Additional_Data>
If your Custom Object is defined as "TestObject" for example, you would need both the Object and Field Reference IDs, and it would look like this:
<wd:Business_Object_Additional_Data>
<cus:TestObject>
<cus:TestObjectField>Value</cus:TestObjectField>
</cus:TestObject>
</wd:Business_Object_Additional_Data>

If you are using Java, here is an example usage of the Workday API to update worker data. This is not the Edit_Worker_Additional_Data, but they all work very similar and maybe this code snippet will help someone get started. All of the Java classes here are generated from the wsdl using jaxws-maven-plugin, except for WorkdayCredentials class, see Workday Soap API - User Name/Password for that.

Plc4x addressing system

I am discovering the Plc4x java implementation which seems to be of great interest in our field. But the youth of the project and the documentation makes us hesitate. I have been able to implement the basic hello world for reading out of our PLCs, but I was unable to write. I could not find how the addresses are handled and what the maskwrite, andMask and orMask fields mean.
Please can somebody explain to me the following example and detail how the addresses should be used?
#Test
void testWriteToPlc() {
// Establish a connection to the plc using the url provided as first argument
try( PlcConnection plcConnection = new PlcDriverManager().getConnection( "modbus:tcp://1.1.2.1" ) ){
// Create a new read request:
// - Give the single item requested the alias name "value"
var builder = plcConnection.writeRequestBuilder();
builder.addItem( "value-" + 1, "maskwrite:1[1]/2/3", 2 );
var writeRequest = builder.build();
LOGGER.info( "Synchronous request ..." );
var syncResponse = writeRequest.execute().get();
}catch(Exception e){
e.printStackTrace();
}
}
I have used PLC4x for writing using the modbus driver with success. Here is some sample code I am using:
public static void writePlc4x(ProtocolConnection connection, String registerName, byte[] writeRegister, int offset)
throws InterruptedException {
// modbus write works ok writing one record per request/item
int size = 1;
PlcWriteRequest.Builder writeBuilder = connection.writeRequestBuilder();
if (writeRegister.length == 2) {
writeBuilder.addItem(registerName, "register:" + offset + "[" + size + "]", writeRegister);
}
...
PlcWriteRequest request = writeBuilder.build();
request.execute().whenComplete((writeResponse, error) -> {
assertNotNull(writeResponse);
});
Thread.sleep((long) (sleepWait4Write * writeRegister.length * 1000));
}
In the case of modbus writing there is an issue regarding the return of the writer Future, but the write is done. In the modbus use case I don't need any mask stuff.

Community Connector getData() Request only uses the first two schema fields, not all four

I am building a Community Connector between Google Data Studio and SpyFu.com, in order to funnel SEO information for a specific url into the GDS Dashboard.
However, My getData() request only contains the first two fields from my Schema. As you can see, I have four listed in the code. The result is only the first two fields in the schema are printed to GDS.
I've been through tutorials, official documentation, YouTube videos, looked this issue up on google and checked out the community resources on GitHub.
//Step Two: Define getConfig()
function getConfig(request) {
var cc = DataStudioApp.createCommunityConnector();
var config = cc.getConfig();
config.newInfo()
.setId('instructions')
.setText('Give me SpyFu information on the following domain:');
config.newTextInput()
.setId('domain')
.setName('Enter the domain to search')
.setHelpText('e.g. ebay.com')
.setPlaceholder('ebay.com');
config.newTextInput()
.setId('SECRET_KEY')
.setName('Enter your API Secret Key')
.setHelpText('e.g. A1B2C3D4')
.setPlaceholder('A1B2C3D4');
config.setDateRangeRequired(false);
return config.build();
}
//Step Three: Define getSchema()
function getFields(request) {
var cc = DataStudioApp.createCommunityConnector();
var fields = cc.getFields();
var types = cc.FieldType;
var aggregations = cc.AggregationType;
fields.newDimension()
.setId('Keyword')
.setName('Keywords')
.setDescription('The keywords most often attributed to this domain.')
.setType(types.TEXT);
fields.newMetric()
.setId('Rank')
.setName('Rankings')
.setDescription('The ranking of the target site keyword on the Google Search Page.')
.setType(types.NUMBER);
fields.newMetric()
.setId('Local_Monthly_Searches')
.setName('Local Searches per Month')
.setDescription('Number of times, locally, that people have searched for this term within in the last month.')
.setType(types.NUMBER);
fields.newMetric()
.setId('Global_Monthly_Searches')
.setName('Global Searches per Month')
.setDescription('Number of times, globally, that people have searched for this term within in the last month.')
.setType(types.NUMBER);
return fields;
}
function getSchema(request) {
var fields = getFields(request).build();
return { schema: fields };
}
//Step Four: Define getData()
function responseToRows(requestedFields, response, domain) {
// Transform parsed data and filter for requested fields
return response.map(function(Array) {
var row = [];
requestedFields.asArray().forEach(function (field) {
switch (field.getId()) {
case 'Keyword':
return row.push(Array.term);
case 'Rank':
return row.push(Array.position);
case 'Local_Monthly_Searches':
return row.push(Array.exact_local_monthly_search_volume);
case 'Global_Monthly_Searches':
return row.push(Array.exact_global_monthly_search_volume);
case 'domain':
return row.push(domain);
default:
return row.push('');
}
});
return { values: row };
});
}
function getData(request) {
console.log("Request from Data Studio");
console.log(request);
var requestedFieldIds = request.fields.map(function(field) {
return field.name;
});
var requestedFields = getFields().forIds(requestedFieldIds);
// Fetch data from API
var url = [
'https://www.spyfu.com/apis/url_api/organic_kws?q='
+ request.configParams.domain
+ '&r=20'
+ '&p=[1 TO 10]'
+ '&api_key='
+ request.configParams.SECRET_KEY,
];
try {
var response = UrlFetchApp.fetch(url.join(''));
} catch (e) {
DataStudioApp.createCommunityConnector()
.newUserError()
.setDebugText('Failed URL Fetch Attempt. Exception details: ' + e)
.setText('There was an error accessing this domain. Try again later, or file an issue if this error persists.')
.throwException();
}
console.log("Response from API");
console.log(response);
//Parse data from the API
try {
var parsedResponse = JSON.parse(response);
} catch (e) {
DataStudioApp.createCommunityConnector()
.newUserError()
.setDebugText('Error parsing the JSON data. Exception details: ' + e)
.setText('There was an error parsing the JSON data. Try again later, or file an issue if this error persists.')
.throwException();
}
var rows = responseToRows(requestedFields, parsedResponse);
return {
schema: requestedFields.build(),
rows: rows
};
}
I need the GDS to post four columns of data. They are, "Keyword", "Rank", "Local Monthly Searches" and "Global Monthly searches".
I cannot figure out how to create a "fixed schema" so that the system always prints these four columns of data at every request. The tutorials and various documentation say it's possible, but not how to do it. Please help!
The number of metrics initially called up by the Google Community Connector is handled from the front-end, via Google Data Studio.
The back-end system (the Connector) only initially posts the default dimension and default metric. Getting the rest of the schemas to post should be handled when you are building a report on Google Data Studio. Simply click on the data set, select "data" on the right-hand menu, scroll down to either Metrics or Dimensions, and pick the ones you wish to add to the current set.
Note that these are the fields you established earlier in the coding process, when you were setting up your schemas.
Here, you're filtering your defined schema for fields that are present on the request object received by getData().
var requestedFieldIds = request.fields.map(function(field) {
return field.name;
});
var requestedFields = getFields().forIds(requestedFieldIds);
The visualization in Google Data Studio that is the catalyst for the request will determine which fields are requested.

Been working with paypal php sdk for some days now and my code stop working.
So i went back to basic and i am still getting the same damn error.
I am trying to create a plan for subscription but getting the following error:
"NotifyUrl is not a fully qualified URL"
I have no idea how to fix this as i dont use NotfifyUrl in my code?
Could be really nice if anyone had an idea how to fix this problem :)
Thanks
PayPal did a update to their API last night which has caused problem within their SDK.
They are sending back null values in their responses.
I MUST stress the error is not on sending the request to PayPal, but on processing their response.
BUG Report : https://github.com/paypal/PayPal-PHP-SDK/issues/1151
Pull Request : https://github.com/paypal/PayPal-PHP-SDK/pull/1152
Hope this helps, but their current SDK is throwing exceptions.
Use below simple fix.
Replace below function in vendor\paypal\rest-api-sdk-php\lib\PayPal\Api\MerchantPreferences.php
public function setNotifyUrl($notify_url)
{
if(!empty($notify_url)){
UrlValidator::validate($notify_url, "NotifyUrl");
}
$this->notify_url = $notify_url;
return $this;
}
If you get the same error for return_url/cancel_url, add the if condition as above.
Note: This is not a permanent solution, you can use this until getting the update from PayPal.
From the GitHub repo for the PayPal PHP SDK, I see that the error you mentioned is thrown when MerchantPreferences is not given a valid NotifyUrl. I see you're setting the CancelUrl and ReturnUrl, but not the NotifyUrl. You may simply need to set that as well, i.e.:
$NotifyUrl = (some url goes here)
$obj->setNotifyUrl($NotifyUrl);
Reason behind it!
error comes from.
vendor\paypal\rest-api-sdk-php\lib\PayPal\Validation\UrlValidator.php
line.
if (filter_var($url, FILTER_VALIDATE_URL) === false) {
throw new \InvalidArgumentException("$urlName is not a fully qualified URL");
}
FILTER_VALIDATE_URL: according to this php function.
INVALID URL: "http://cat_n.domain.net.in/"; // IT CONTAIN _ UNDERSCORE.
VALID URL: "http://cat-n.domain.net.in/"; it separated with - dash
here you can dump your url.
vendor\paypal\rest-api-sdk-php\lib\PayPal\Validation\UrlValidator.php
public static function validate($url, $urlName = null)
{
var_dump($url);
}
And then check this here: https://www.w3schools.com/PHP/phptryit.asp?filename=tryphp_func_validate_url
you can check here what character will reason for invalid.

fetch gmail calendar events in mvc 4 application

I am working on mvc 4 web application. I want to implement a functionality wherein the scenario is as follows-
There will be gmail id as input for ex: abc#gmail.com. When user will enter this, application should fetch all the calendar events of that respective email id and display them.
I have gone through this-
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/live/hh826523.aspx#cal_rest
https://developers.google.com/google-apps/calendar/v2/developers_guide_protocol
I am new to this and i have searched a lot but not got any solution. Please help! Thanks in advance!
Got the solution . Just refer this.
https://github.com/nanovazquez/google-calendar-sample
Please check the steps below.
Add Google Data API SDK.
Try this code.. I wrote this code for one project but I removed some codes that are not related to Google Calender. If you don't want to use SDK, you can simply do http-get or http-post to your calender link based on spec.
CalendarService service = new CalendarService("A.Name");
const string GOOGLE_CALENDAR_FEED = "https://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/";
const string GOOGLE_CALENDAR_DEFAULT_ALL_CALENDAR_FULL = "default/allcalendars/full";
const string GOOGLE_CALENDAR_ALL_PRIVATE_FULL = "private/full";
private void SetUserCredentials() {
var userName = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["GoogleUserName"];
var passWord = Security.DecryptString(ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["GooglePasswrod"]).ToInsecureString();
if (userName != null && userName.Length > 0) {
service.setUserCredentials(userName, passWord);
}
}
private CalendarFeed GetCalendarsFeed() {
CalendarQuery calendarQuery = new CalendarQuery();
calendarQuery.Uri = new Uri(GOOGLE_CALENDAR_FEED + GOOGLE_CALENDAR_DEFAULT_ALL_CALENDAR_FULL);
CalendarFeed resultFeed = (CalendarFeed)service.Query(calendarQuery);
return resultFeed;
}
private TherapistTimeSlots GetTimeSlots(CalendarEntry entry2) {
string feedstring = entry2.Id.AbsoluteUri.Substring(63);
var postUristring = string.Format("{0}{1}/{2}", GOOGLE_CALENDAR_FEED, feedstring, GOOGLE_CALENDAR_ALL_PRIVATE_FULL);
EventFeed eventFeed = GetEventFeed(postUristring);
slot.Events = new List<Event>();
if (eventFeed != null) {
var orderEventList = (from entity in eventFeed.Entries
from timeslot in ((EventEntry)entity).Times
orderby timeslot.StartTime
select entity).ToList();
}
return slot;
}
private EventFeed GetEventFeed(string postUristring) {
var eventQuery = new EventQuery();
eventQuery.Uri = new Uri(postUristring);
var h = Convert.ToInt32(DateTime.Now.ToString("HH", System.Globalization.DateTimeFormatInfo.InvariantInfo));
eventQuery.StartTime = new DateTime(DateTime.Now.Year, DateTime.Now.Month, DateTime.Now.Day, h, 0, 0);
eventQuery.EndTime = new DateTime(DateTime.Now.Year, DateTime.Now.Month, DateTime.Now.Day, h + 2, 0, 0);
try {
EventFeed eventFeed = service.Query(eventQuery) as EventFeed;
return eventFeed;
}
catch (Exception ex) {
/*
* http://groups.google.com/group/google-calendar-help-dataapi/browse_thread/thread/1c1309d9e6bd9be7

gsessionid that will optimize your subsequent requests on our servers.
Using the GData client library should be transparent for you as it is taking
care of handling those redirect; but there might some times where this error
occurs as you may have noticed.
The best way to work around this is to catche the Exception and re-send the
request as there is nothing else you can do on your part.

}

Eventbrite API date range parameter for organizer_list_events

I need a way to search via the eventbrite api past events, by organizer, that are private, but I also need to be able to limit the date range. I have not found a viable solution for this search. I assume the organizer_list_events api would be the preferred method, but the request paramaters don't seem to allow for the date range, and I am getting FAR too many returns.
I'm having some similar issues I posted a question to get a response about parsing the timezone, here's the code I'm using to get the dates though and exclude any events before today (unfortunately like you said I'm still getting everything sent to me and paring things out client side)
Note this is an AngularJS control but the code is just using the EventBrite javascript API.
function EventCtrl($http, $scope)
{
$scope.events=[];
$scope.noEventsDisplay = "Loading events...";
Eventbrite({'app_key': "EVC36F6EQZZ4M5DL6S"}, function(eb){
// define a few parameters to pass to the API
// Options are listed here: http://developer.eventbrite.com/doc/organizers/organizer_list_events/
//3877641809
var options = {
'id' : "3588304527",
};
// provide a callback to display the response data:
eb.organizer_list_events( options, function( response ){
validEvents = [];
var now = new Date().getTime();
for(var i = 0; i<response.events.length; i++)
{
var sd = response.events[i].event.start_date;
var ed = response.events[i].event.end_date;
var parsedSD = sd.split(/[:-\s]/);
var parsedED = ed.split(/[:-\s]/);
var startDate = new Date(parsedSD[0], parsedSD[1]-1, parsedSD[2], parsedSD[3], parsedSD[4], parsedSD[5]);
var endDate = new Date(parsedED[0], parsedED[1]-1, parsedED[2], parsedED[3], parsedED[4], parsedED[5]);
if(endDate.getTime()<now)
continue;
response.events[i].event.formattedDate = date.toDateString();
validEvents.push(response.events[i])
}
if(validEvents.length == 0)
{
$scope.$apply(function(scope){scope.noEventsDisplay = "No upcoming events to display, please check back soon.";});
}
else
{
$scope.$apply(function(scope){scope.noEventsDisplay = "";});
}
$scope.$apply(function(scope){scope.events = validEvents;});
//$('.event_list').html(eb.utils.eventList( response, eb.utils.eventListRow ));
});
});
}
