I must solve the problem of division inside nested loops in order to allow to Intel Compiler vectorization (using C / C++)
My question was concentrated about the vectorization issue, and not about the essence of the division.
Please read carefully, before categorizing the question.
Nor common search on the internet, nor Intel guides can give a concrete solution to that problem
My former question was formulated like this:
'How To Divide two float numbers without using the operator '/'. The result should be the float. '

For the sake of homework as a brainbuilding exercise...try to abstract what division really is.
Try to create a method that will subtract variable a from variable b and increment variable c until it cannot subtract anymore and then for the remainder you could do the same on 1/10 of variable a to create decimal values until you reach the desired precision.
Var a=divisor
Var b=divided number
Var c=number of times a goes into b

Trying to convert two or three columns in a huge table from base 36 to base 10.
I know the python code for it. But looking to do it in SQL (Snowflake). Is there a better way?
I wrote a JavaScript UDF to convert from any base to another base. Just call CONV(x, 36, 10) to go from base 36 to base 10.

attempting to match a list of names that are similar in one very long column to another that are close but often vary do to missing letters and punctuation? is there a simple solution via a macro and/or sql?
using Levenstein functions can help
check the function and algorithm here: Levenshtein distance in T-SQL
after you create a function - compare the distance, for example:
select ..... from....
where dbo.Levenstein(str1,str2)>0.9 --means, the match between str1 and str2 is 90%

This is a challenge specific to SPARK-SQL and I'm unable to apply two highlighted answers
I'm writing complex data processing logic in SPARK-SQL.
Here is the process I follow ,
Define case class for a table with all attributes.
Register that as table.
Use SQLContext to query the same.
I'm encountering an issue as Scala allows only 22 parameters whereas my table has 50 columns. Only approach I could think of is to break dataset in such a way that it has 22 parameters and combine them later at the end. It does not look like a clean approach. Is there any better approach to this issue ?
Switch to Scala 2.11 and the case class field limit is gone. Release notes. Issue.

I have a table with several columns, with DATA_TYPE FLOAT, NUMBER. There are whole numbers and decimal digits with decimal places.
e.g. 234, 4, 0, 23.000000004, 234,4444, ...
Assignment:
I want that the numbers have 2 decimal places at maximum. If more, then round up resp. off!
The wish is, to execute the .sql script via sqldeveloper. Easier approaches are welcome!
Synopsis:
ROUND numbers if they exceed 2 decimal places
UPDATE the value
utilization on several choosen columns

The simplest possible thing would by something like
UPDATE table_name
SET column1_name = round(column1_name, 2 ),
column2_name = round(column2_name, 2 ),
...
columnN_name = round(columnN_name, 2 )
where you enter however many columns you want to modify. If you want to dynamically generate the script, you could write an anonymous PL/SQL block that used the dba|all|user_tab_columns data dictionary view to generate the appropriate SQL statement for each table and use EXECUTE IMMEDIATE or DBMS_SQL to execute the dynamically generated SQL statement. That's quite a bit more effort to write, debug, and maintain, though so it's probably only worthwhile if you want it to work automatically in the future when new columns are added to the table.
If you have FLOAT columns, be aware that floats are inherently imprecise. Even if you round to 2 decimal digits, there is no guarantee that the value that is stored will always be 2 decimal digits. You may find values that are infinitessimally largers or smaller than you'd expect. If you really want to ensure that all numbers have 2 a particular precision, those columns should be defined as numbers not floats.

I have a column that contains data in the form:
CustomerZip::12345||AccountId::1111111||s_Is_Advertiser::True||ManagedBy::3000||CustomerID::5555555||
Does SQL have any sort of built in function to easily parse out this data, or will I have to build my own complicated mess of patindex/substring functions to pull each value into its own field?
I don't believe there is anything built in. Look at the comments posted against your original question.
If this is something you're going to need on a regular basis, consider writing a view.
