OpenSSL or such without Command Line - ssl

I want to implement OpenSSL or something such but my problem is that I neither have Command Line Interface to my Linux Server nor access to Admin Panel. I can't access any other folder except where my website resides because I am using FTP.
The website is at http://www.swamisantdass.com. It will be updated soon so I want to implement SSL.
I may be getting OpenSSL wrong (I don't know)
Can anybody please help?

You mean you want HTTPS, so your website would be accessible via https://www.swamisantdass.com ? That's web server configuration and only server administrator can enable that, but you should provide him SSL certificate.

Unable to trust ASP.NET SSL dev certificate

I have been going around and around with this issue. I can create a dev-cert using dotnet dev-certs https --trust but the certificate only appears in the Personal certificates folder. If I try copying it to the Trusted folder it disappears on refresh. I have watched videos of people doing this on YouTube and it works so I'm not sure what is wrong with my PC/install.
Running my code and hitting the route in Postman returns a 500 error and UntrustedRoot.
I have tried this using a local user account and my admin account. I have also tried creating a certificate and importing it using OpenSSL following guides I have found, but still no luck.
I am running Windows 10 Pro on a new build PC. Windows was a clean install with a new licence.
I really don't want to have to purchase a signed certificate just to do development on localhost as that seems a bit overkill.
Any suggestions?
tl;dr try disabling your anti-virus before creating certificate!
I finally stumbled upon the answer; my anti-virus, WebRoot. I was following a YouTube tutorial on how to add a custom certificate to Kestrel and in doing so I discovered that WebRoot was blocking access to the hosts file. Disabling the av allowed me to update that file but also, it then allowed trusting of the dev-cert generated by dotnet dev-certs https --trust.
Not sure how I can prevent this in future other than temporarily disable the av before creating a certificate. Frustrating that the av doesn't warn me and there doesn't appear to be an obvious setting to allow this to happen.

SSL error on Magento 2 Sign In for marketplace

I am posting this question on SO instead of ServerFault, because all my previous efforts to get Magento 2 issues sorted out, ended up being hacking some or other code in the Magento or template source.
I have configured a basic install of Magento 2 with a theme for a client.
Magento is running on IIS and Windows. (Not WAMP), shared IIS hosting on windows (My own server).
I configured the shop to use SSL, and the complete shop runs over SSL without any issues.
However, when trying to use the market place, I get a weird SSL issue:
"SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate"
This error is shown on the Magneto shop (which is currently running over ssl), when trying to sign in to the market place.
I have found lots of hits on this issue, but all answers seem to lead to a self-signed certificate that isn't trusted or adding intermediary and/or root certificates. This is all based on XAMP, WAMP or native 'nix installations.
I do not understand what the exact issue is. I also do not know how to troubleshoot this further as the error description is very vague.
I would appreciate some feedback.
Thanks
This error happens because cURL cannot find a cacert.pem file from which take the trusted signatures.
There are some ways to set this file in cURL:
• Pass the cacert.pem file path directly to cURL when making the call;
• Set the path to the cacert.pem file in the php.ini.

How to use "htaccess" on synology system for website access control?

I am trying to set up the access control for my personal website on synology NAS. Right now I am using DS212J. I found the following article teaching how to use "htaccess" on apache to achieve that.
http://www.synology.com/support/faq_show.php?lang=enu&q_id=347
But I encountered 2 problem:
1) I don't have the command "htpasswd" after ssh to my DS212J.
2) After I manually create those files, I got the username and password prompting up on the website. However, the password in "admin.pw" and "normal.pw" doesn't work when I type in. I am not sure whether it is because I didn't use command "htpasswd".
What am I missing here?
Thanks.
The htpasswd executable is at /usr/syno/apache/bin/htpasswd. As that directory is not on the PATH, you have to explicitly use the whole path to use it:
Apache doesn't keep passwords in plain text, it uses a hash of them so that even if someone gets access to the password file they won't be able to log in. That's why you must use htpasswd to create the file.
For anyone who comes across this, I couldn't get that synology support tutorial to work either. I am running DSM 5.1-5022 Update 4 on my own domain with ssl. Here's how it got it working:
Follow the steps in the following wiki: Synology Wiki
In the control panel, go to "Web Services" and disable SPDY for secure connections. (Gleaned from this article.)
Good luck.

Pushing my Mercurial Repository through HTTP with Apache and Windows

So I have managed it. I can clone mercurial-repositories remotely using HTTP to my Windows Server 2003 machine and the ipaddress from that machine. Although I did deactivate IIS6 and am using Apache 2.2.x now. But not all works right now...darn! Here's the thing:
Cloning goes smooth! But when I want to push my changes to the original repository I get the message "cannot lock static http-repository". On the internet I get to read several explanations that Mercurial wasn't designed to push over HTTP connections. Still, on the Mercurial website there's something about configuring an hgrc file.
There's also the possibilty to configure Apache to host via HTTPS (or SSL). For this you have to load the module enabling OpenSSL and generating keys.
Configuring the hgrc file
Just add "push_ssl = false" under the [web] line. But where to put this file when pushing your changes back?! Because I placed it in the root of the server, in the ".hg" directory, nothing works.
Using SSL/HTTPS with Apache
When I try to access 'https://myipaddress' it fails, displaying a dutch message which would mean something like "server taking too long to respond". Trying to push also gives me a dutch error message which means about the same. It can not connect to my server via https although I followed the steps exactly at this blog.
I don't care which of the above solutions will work for me. Turns out none of them work so far. So please, can anyone help me with one of the solutions above? Pick the easiest! Help will be greatly appreciated, not only from me.
Summary
-Windows Server 2003
-Apache 2.2 with OpenSSL
-Mercurial 1.8.2
-I can clone, but not push!
Thank you!

It seems like you might have apache configured incorrectly for getting it to do what you want. Based on your question it sounds like you have a path (maybe the root of the server) pointing to the repository you want to serve.
Mercurial comes with a script for this exact purpose, in the latest version it is hgweb.cgi. There are reasonably good instructions for setting it up on the mercurial site. It should allow both cloning and pushing. You will need the push_ssl=false if you will not be configuring https and also an allow_push line which will let certain users, or all (*) push to the repository. But all that should be part of the setup docs.

CryptAcquireCertificatePrivateKey failed when using SelfSSL on IIS6 with multiple Websites

I have two "Web Sites" running under IIS6 (Windows Server 2003R2 Standard), each bound to a separate IP address (one is the base address of the server).
I used SelfSSL to generate and install an SSL certificate for development purposes on one of these sites and it works great. I then run SelfSSL to generate a certificate for the second site and the second site works, but now the first site is broken over SSL.
I run SSL Diagnostics and it tells me:
WARNING: You have a private key that corresponds to this certificate but CryptAcquireCertificatePrivateKey failed
If I re-run SelfSSL on the first site (to fix it), the first site works but then the second site is broken.
It seems like SelfSSL is doing something in a way that is designed to work with only one Website, but I can't seem to put my finger on exactly what it's doing and figure out how to suppress it. I would manually configure SSL but I don't have a certificate server handy, but maybe there is a way to get SelfSSL to just gen the cert and let me install it?
FWIW I have also followed the guidance of several posts that indicate changes to the permissions of the RSA directory are in order, etc. but to no avail. I don't work with SSL everyday so I may be overlooking something that someone with more experience might notice, or perhaps there is a diagnostic process that I could follow to get to the bottom of the issue?
We had a similar problem today. Our IT guy said he solved it by basically using ssldiag instead of selfssl to generate the certs.

I have to admit I don't fully understand what happened, but I'm on the programming side rather than the network admin side.
