I am missing the *way obvious
What is wrong with this script:
function setMenuChoices() {
var ss = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet();
var sheet = ss.getSheets()[0];
var cell = sheet.getRange("P28");
If(cell == "X") cell.setValue(" ");
else cell.setValue("X");
}
Instead of
If(cell == "X") cell.setValue(" ");
use
if(cell.getValue() == "X") cell.setValue(" ");

I am trying to code an data export. The export is executed when a button is pressed and the script linked to the button will be executed. The data is transfered to a masterdata sheet.
The script is valid for 4 different sheets and i am trying to code it, so that i do not have to rename all the vaiables for each sheet.
I found some solution that i tried, by creating a variable with the sheet names and then call this variable in the following code.
Problem 1: Error "TypeError: Cannot read property 'copyTo' of null" occurs.
Problem 2: How to ensure that only the data from the sheet where the export button is pressed will be exported?
I tried a lot and cannot find a solution.
var sheetListArray = ["B1-Prozessfragen", "B2-Prozessfragen"];
var ss = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet();
for( var k = 1 ; k <= sheetListArray.length ; k++)
ExportData1g (sheetListArray[k]);
PB1g (sheetListArray[k]);
function ExportData1g (sheetname) {
var result = SpreadsheetApp.getUi().alert("Fertig-Hacken gesetzt?", SpreadsheetApp.getUi().ButtonSet.OK_CANCEL); {
if (result === SpreadsheetApp.getUi().Button.OK) {
const ssh=ss.getSheetByName(sheetname);
const cell = ssh.getRange("CheckButton1").getValue();
if (cell == "1" || "0") {
(PB1g ());
}
else {return;} }
else {return;}
}
const ssh=ss.getSheetByName(sheetname);
var dataRange = ssh.getRange('CheckBox1');
var values = dataRange.getValues();
for (var i = 0; i < values.length; i++) {
for (var j = 0; j < values[i].length; j++) {
if (values[i][j] == true) {
values[i][j] = false;
}}
dataRange.setValues(values);
var commentRange = ssh.getRange ('ResetComment1');
var dataRange = ssh.getRange('EmptyBoxes1');
var values = dataRange.getValues();
for (var i = 0; i < values.length; i++) {
for (var j = 0; j < values[i].length; j++) {
if (values[i][j] == 1) {
values[i][j] = 0;
}
}
}
commentRange.clearContent();
dataRange.setValues(values);
} }
function PB1g(sheetname) {
const ssh=ss.getSheetByName(sheetname);
const tss=SpreadsheetApp.openById("1wMw5H48Fmc1R8WGy34d80x9-W996c9GNVuAD3-mFtVQ");
const tsh=tss.getSheetByName("PB");
const nsh=ssh.copyTo(tss);
var firstEmtyRow = tsh.getLastRow () + 1;
var timestamp = new Date();
tsh.appendRow([timestamp]);
nsh.getRange("CopytoMasterdata1").copyTo(tsh.getRange("B" + firstEmtyRow), {contentsOnly:true});
tss.deleteSheet(nsh); }
In the beginning, the script worked fine but it's getting slow with time as the number of rows is increasing.
Is there a way to optimize it or should I use some other tool?
function onEdit() {
var ss = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet().getActiveSheet();
var datass = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet().getSheetByName("Confidential- 1");
var activeCell = ss.getActiveCell();
if(activeCell.getColumn() == 4 && activeCell.getRow() > 1){
activeCell.offset(0,1).clearContent().clearDataValidations();
var makes = datass.getRange(1,1,1, datass.getLastColumn()).getValues();
var makeIndex = makes[0].indexOf(activeCell.getValue()) + 1;
if(makeIndex != 0){
var validationRange = datass.getRange(3, makeIndex, datass.getLastRow());
var validationRule = SpreadsheetApp.newDataValidation().requireValueInRange(validationRange).build();
activeCell.offset(0,1).setDataValidation(validationRule);
}
}
}
so I'm a long way form a competent programmer, but I do dabble in google sheets scripts.
I previously had a script running on a timer trigger to hide rows based on dates found in column A.
function min() {
var ss = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet();
var s = ss.getSheetByName("OLD");
var v = s.getRange("A:A").getValues();
var today = new Date().getTime() - 86400000
for (var i = s.getLastRow(); i > 1; i--) {
var t = v[i - 1];
if (t != "") {
var u = new Date(t);
if (u < today) {
s.hideRows(i);
}
}
}
}
function max() {
var ss = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet();
var s = ss.getSheetByName("OLD");
var v = s.getRange("A:A").getValues();
var today = new Date().getTime() + 86400000
for (var i = s.getLastRow(); i > 1; i--) {
var t = v[i - 1];
if (t != "") {
var u = new Date(t);
if (u > today) {
s.hideRows(i);
}
}
}
}
function SHOWROWS() {
// set up spreadsheet and sheet
var ss = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet(), sheets = ss.getSheets();
for(var i = 0, iLen = sheets.length; i < iLen; i++) {
// get sheet
var sh = sheets[i];
// unhide rows
var rRows = sh.getRange("A:A");
sh.unhideRow(rRows);
}
}
this would be set to run at midnight every night so as to hide all rows not +-1 day from the current date.
I have now switched to using this document primarily through the android app I need to swap the input layout Moving dates from rows and values in columns to the inverse, values are now in rows and the dates are in columns, inputing vertical values would be much quicker....but honestly its more about understanding what im doing wrong thats really motivating my search for a answer.
can anyone help me modify my old script to work on this changed sheet.
my attempts fall flat..eg:
function min() {
var ss = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet();
var s = ss.getSheetByName("OLD");
var v = s.getRange("1:1").getValues();
var today = new Date().getTime() - 86400000
for (var i = s.getLastColumn(); i > 1; i--) {
var t = v[i - 1];
if (t != "") {
var u = new Date(t);
if (u < today) {
s.hidecolumns(i);
}
}
}
}
example spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EjRIeDPrG_qp1S9QhInl9r3G0cZx_16OvnTXORgA3n4/edit?usp=sharing
there is two sheets one with the old version of my layout called "OLD" and my new desired layout called "NEW"
thanks in advance to anyone able to help
This function hides a column whose top row date is less yesterday.
function hideColumnWhenTopRowDateIsBeforeYesterday() {
var ss=SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet();
var sh=ss.getSheetByName("Sheet1");
var rg=sh.getRange(1,1,1,sh.getLastColumn());
var vA=rg.getValues()[0];
var yesterday=new Date(new Date().getFullYear(),new Date().getMonth(),new Date().getDate()-1).valueOf();
vA.forEach(function(e,i){
if(new Date(e).valueOf()<yesterday) {
sh.hideColumns(i+1);
}
});
}

My Spreadsheet after hiding columns:
I am new to Google Scripts, and trying to automate some process in Google Spreadsheets. I have found a way to move a row from one sheet to another based on the value in a specific column. But, to make it work across multiple sheets, I have duplicated the code for every sheet. I'm sure there must be a way to simplify this, but I'm getting stuck. See my code below.
function onEdit() {
// moves a row from a sheet to another when a magic value is entered in a column
// adjust the following variables to fit your needs
// see https://productforums.google.com/d/topic/docs/ehoCZjFPBao/discussion
var sheetNameToWatch = "BRG";
var columnNumberToWatch = 3; // column A = 1, B = 2, etc.
var valueToWatch = "done";
var sheetNameToMoveTheRowTo = "Done";
var ss = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet();
var sheet = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSheet();
var range = sheet.getActiveCell();
if (sheet.getName() == sheetNameToWatch && range.getColumn() == columnNumberToWatch && range.getValue() == valueToWatch) {
var targetSheet = ss.getSheetByName(sheetNameToMoveTheRowTo);
var targetRange = targetSheet.getRange(targetSheet.getLastRow() + 1, 1);
sheet.getRange(range.getRow(), 1, 1, sheet.getLastColumn()).moveTo(targetRange);
sheet.deleteRow(range.getRow());
}
var sheetNameToWatch = "Lesotho";
var columnNumberToWatch = 3; // column A = 1, B = 2, etc.
var valueToWatch = "done";
var sheetNameToMoveTheRowTo = "Done";
var ss = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet();
var sheet = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSheet();
var range = sheet.getActiveCell();
if (sheet.getName() == sheetNameToWatch && range.getColumn() == columnNumberToWatch && range.getValue() == valueToWatch) {
var targetSheet = ss.getSheetByName(sheetNameToMoveTheRowTo);
var targetRange = targetSheet.getRange(targetSheet.getLastRow() + 1, 1);
sheet.getRange(range.getRow(), 1, 1, sheet.getLastColumn()).moveTo(targetRange);
sheet.deleteRow(range.getRow());
}
var sheetNameToWatch = "Bosman";
var columnNumberToWatch = 3; // column A = 1, B = 2, etc.
var valueToWatch = "done";
var sheetNameToMoveTheRowTo = "Done";
var ss = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet();
var sheet = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSheet();
var range = sheet.getActiveCell();
if (sheet.getName() == sheetNameToWatch && range.getColumn() == columnNumberToWatch && range.getValue() == valueToWatch) {
var targetSheet = ss.getSheetByName(sheetNameToMoveTheRowTo);
var targetRange = targetSheet.getRange(targetSheet.getLastRow() + 1, 1);
sheet.getRange(range.getRow(), 1, 1, sheet.getLastColumn()).moveTo(targetRange);
sheet.deleteRow(range.getRow());
}
}
This should do it. It creates an array of all sheet names not equal to "Done" and then loops through your code to see if a sheet has been edited with "done" in column C.
function onEdit() {
var columnNumberToWatch = 3; // column A = 1, B = 2, etc.
var valueToWatch = "done";
var sheetNameToMoveTheRowTo = "Done";
var ss = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet();
var sheet = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSheet();
var range = sheet.getActiveCell();
var sheetNameToWatch=[] //Array of Sheet names
var names = ss.getSheets()
for( j=0;j<names.length;j++) {
var n= names[j].getSheetName();
if(n!="Done"){ //If Sheet name not "Done" add to array
sheetNameToWatch.push(n)
}}
for(i=0;i<sheetNameToWatch.length;i++){
if (sheet.getName() == sheetNameToWatch[i] && range.getColumn() == columnNumberToWatch && range.getValue() == valueToWatch) {
var targetSheet = ss.getSheetByName(sheetNameToMoveTheRowTo);
var targetRange = targetSheet.getRange(targetSheet.getLastRow() + 1, 1);
sheet.getRange(range.getRow(), 1, 1, sheet.getLastColumn()).moveTo(targetRange);
sheet.deleteRow(range.getRow());
}}
}
I am trying to write a script that copies a layer from one document into another.
var srcDocName = 0;
var destDocName = 1;
var layerNameOriginal = "Original";
var layerNameCopyTo = "Destination";
var destDoc = app.documents.item(destDocName);
var layerSrc = app.documents.item(srcDocName).layers.item(layerNameOriginal);
try {
layerSrc.duplicate(destDoc, ElementPlacement.INSIDE);
}
catch(e) {
alert(e)
}
Apparently this works in Photoshop but not in InDesign. I have been trying for ages to find some decent documentation for InDesign scripting. But all I can find is the CS scripting guide, which isn't of much use.
http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/products/indesign/pdfs/InDesignCS5_ScriptingGuide_JS.pdf
If someone can point me to a good reference to the object model I would be grateful.
After some more googling I finally found the answer:
var sourceLayer = app.documents[0].layers.itemByName("Layer1");
var destLayer = app.documents[1].layers[0];
sourceLayer.pageItems.everyItem().duplicate(destLayer);
I also came across jongware which seems to be a complete Object reference extracted directly out of Adobe CS.
You can use this script: https://redokun.com/blog/indesign-copy-entire-layer-one-file-another
The underlying implementation is basically the same, but we've added a UI so it's not necessary to edit the script every time the layer name changes.
Edit: We've been told that the solution above doesn't work with threaded text frames, so I re-wrote the script. The new implementation is way more complex but it now supports threaded TFs.
To expand on the solution offered by Loopo and offer you the ability to copy all layers from 1 document to another...

{
var source = GetSourceDocument();

{
