Xamarin Forms Delay in Navigation - xaml

I am working on a Xamarin Forms Project and stuck with an issue, where I want to open some popups. As Forms does not have in build Popups so, I have different XAML pages and I’m loading them inside my MainPage.xaml and changing the visibility when required.
Popup_1.xaml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<StackLayout xmlns="http://xamarin.com/schemas/2014/forms"
xmlns:x=http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2009/xaml
x:Class="ABC.Views.Popup_1">
<StackLayout >
<Label Text="{Binding FirstName}" VerticalOptions="CenterAndExpand" HorizontalOptions="StartAndExpand" Font="Large" TextColor="Black" />
</StackLayout>
</StackLayout>
I have many layouts like Popup_1 which I want them to be shown as popup. Here’s my MainPage.xaml here contains 3 popup layouts.
MainPage.xaml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<ContentPagexmlns="http://xamarin.com/schemas/2014/forms"
xmlns:x=http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2009/xaml
xmlns:controls="clr-namespace:ABC.Views;assembly=ABC"
x:Class="ABC.Views.MainPage">
<AbsoluteLayout BackgroundColor="Transparent" Padding="10" IsVisible="{Binding ShowPopup_1}" HorizontalOptions="CenterAndExpand" VerticalOptions="CenterAndExpand" >
<StackLayout Orientation="Horizontal" BackgroundColor="Transparent" AbsoluteLayout.LayoutBounds="0.5, 0.5, -1, -1" AbsoluteLayout.LayoutFlags="PositionProportional" >
<controls:Popup_1 />
</StackLayout>
</AbsoluteLayout>
<AbsoluteLayout BackgroundColor="Transparent" Padding="10" IsVisible="{Binding ShowPopup_2}" HorizontalOptions="CenterAndExpand" VerticalOptions="CenterAndExpand" >
<StackLayout Orientation="Horizontal" BackgroundColor="Transparent" AbsoluteLayout.LayoutBounds="0.5, 0.5, -1, -1" AbsoluteLayout.LayoutFlags="PositionProportional" >
<controls:Popup_2 />
</StackLayout>
</AbsoluteLayout>
<AbsoluteLayout BackgroundColor="Transparent" Padding="10" IsVisible="{Binding ShowPopup_3}" HorizontalOptions="CenterAndExpand" VerticalOptions="CenterAndExpand" >
<StackLayout Orientation="Horizontal" BackgroundColor="Transparent" AbsoluteLayout.LayoutBounds="0.5, 0.5, -1, -1" AbsoluteLayout.LayoutFlags="PositionProportional" >
<controls:Popup_3 />
</StackLayout>
</AbsoluteLayout>
</ContentPage>
The problem is when I am trying to navigate to Mainpage.xaml it taking a lot of time to navigate. Is there any standard solution for this issue? or How can I deal with this delay ?
Note: I’m using MVVM binding pattern to change the visibility of layouts.

You're right about to use ContentPage to customize your own popup dialog, but the normal way to show this custom dialog is not setting the visibility of the parent element of your dialog. We need to display it using PushModalAsync and dismiss it using PopModalAsync.
For code sample you can refer to PushModalAsync or PopModalAsync.
I'm not sure what blocks your UI to cause the delay of navigation since you didn't post any code behind of your dialog. Anyway, you can try to push and pop a modal page and see if this helps.

As Forms does not have in build Popups

Stretch BindableLayout.ItemTemplate in Maui horizontally

I have a HorizontalStackLayout with elements in it added via the BindableLayout.Itemsource.
This is an example of what I mean:
<ContentPage xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/dotnet/2021/maui"
xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2009/xaml"
x:Class="StackLayoutStretchTest.MainPage">
<VerticalStackLayout>
<HorizontalStackLayout
HorizontalOptions="FillAndExpand"
VerticalOptions="FillAndExpand"
BackgroundColor="Green">
<BindableLayout.ItemsSource>
<x:Array Type="{x:Type x:String}">
<x:String>Baboon</x:String>
<x:String>Capuchin Monkey</x:String>
<x:String>Blue Monkey</x:String>
<x:String>Squirrel Monkey</x:String>
<x:String>Golden Lion Tamarin</x:String>
<x:String>Howler Monkey</x:String>
<x:String>Japanese Macaque</x:String>
</x:Array>
</BindableLayout.ItemsSource>
<BindableLayout.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<Label Text="{Binding .}"
VerticalOptions="FillAndExpand"
HorizontalOptions="FillAndExpand"
HorizontalTextAlignment="Center"
TextColor="White"
BackgroundColor="DarkBlue"/>
</DataTemplate>
</BindableLayout.ItemTemplate>
</HorizontalStackLayout>
<VerticalStackLayout HorizontalOptions="FillAndExpand"
VerticalOptions="FillAndExpand">
<Label Text="Text"
HorizontalTextAlignment="Center"
TextColor="Black"
BackgroundColor="White"/>
</VerticalStackLayout>
</VerticalStackLayout>
</ContentPage>
How can I make the Labels(Blue) FillAndExpand into the free space(Green)?
The Maui learn page says:
A HorizontalStackLayout only respects the alignment preferences on
child views that are in the opposite direction to the orientation of
the layout.
Is there a way to stretch the children, or what is the appropriate "container" for this use case?
Please be noted that it's a known issue that being tracked in [Bug] LayoutOptions Expand not work in HorizontalStackLayout and VerticalStackLayout . To be clear, the AndExpand options are deprecated, and are not supported in the new HorizontalStackLayout and VerticalStackLayout. As an alternative solution, you can achieve the same layout with a Grid. Or you can continue to use StackLayout for another choice.

Not able to close the popup on click event in Xamarin Forms

I have used Rg.Plugins.Popup.
I have aligned close button which is aligned at top right corner 50% outside the window from right and top side as shown in below image.
Now it is showing as per expected design but issue is when I tap on it, only inward part of close button get clicked and outward part is not clickable. So not able to close popup till the time we click that inward part of Close button.
I am sharing my code for more idea.
<ScrollView Orientation="Horizontal">
<AbsoluteLayout HorizontalOptions="Center"
VerticalOptions="Center"
Padding="0,0,0,0"
Margin="0,0,0,0"
Opacity="1">
<Frame AbsoluteLayout.LayoutBounds="0,0,1,1"
IsClippedToBounds="True"
AbsoluteLayout.LayoutFlags="All"
HasShadow="False"
x:Name="outframe"
Margin="0"
CornerRadius="15"
Padding="0"
OutlineColor="#ffffff"
HorizontalOptions="FillAndExpand"
VerticalOptions="FillAndExpand">
<StackLayout Orientation="Horizontal"
x:Name="stkVideo"
Padding="0">
<Image x:Name="ximage"
Aspect="AspectFill"
HorizontalOptions="FillAndExpand"
VerticalOptions="FillAndExpand"
BackgroundColor="#4A4541" />
<video:VideoPlayer x:Name="trainingPlayer"
DisplayControls="True"
FillMode="ResizeAspectFill"
FlowDirection="LeftToRight"
Volume="100"
Grid.Row="0"
IsVisible="false">
</video:VideoPlayer>
</StackLayout>
</Frame>
<ContentView AbsoluteLayout.LayoutBounds="0.50, 0.50, -1, -1"
AbsoluteLayout.LayoutFlags="PositionProportional">
<Image Source="Play.png"
HeightRequest="{OnIdiom Phone=70,Tablet=85}"
WidthRequest="{OnIdiom Phone=70,Tablet=85}"
Aspect="AspectFit"
VerticalOptions="Center"
HorizontalOptions="Center"
x:Name="icnplay" />
<ContentView.GestureRecognizers>
<TapGestureRecognizer Tapped="TapGestureRecognizer_Tapped_1" />
</ContentView.GestureRecognizers>
</ContentView>
<ContentView AbsoluteLayout.LayoutBounds="1.04, -0.09, -1, -1"
AbsoluteLayout.LayoutFlags="PositionProportional" >
<Image Source="close.png"
HeightRequest="{OnIdiom Phone=35,Tablet=45}"
WidthRequest="{OnIdiom Phone=35,Tablet=45}"
Aspect="AspectFit">
<Image.GestureRecognizers>
<TapGestureRecognizer Tapped="TapGestureRecognizer_Tapped"/>
</Image.GestureRecognizers>
</Image>
<ContentView.GestureRecognizers>
<TapGestureRecognizer Tapped="TapGestureRecognizer_Tapped" />
</ContentView.GestureRecognizers>
</ContentView>
</AbsoluteLayout>
</ScrollView>
What code changes do I need to do so that popup get close when user will click on Close button part which is outside the window as well?
The issue is the close button lies outside the bounds of the <AbsoluteLayout>. One solution involves a few steps:
Make the AbsoluteLayout larger by some amount
Add a margin to the video player Frame equal to how much larger the AbsoluteLayout was made
Update the position of the close button to remain in the top right corner of the video player Frame
Now the close button is contained within the AbsoluteLayout and the entire close button area will receive and raise events for taps/clicks.
I guess that you want to achieve this:
Clicking outside the yellow frame will close the everything.
The red part has a GestureRecognizer
You can achieve this by using a Grid or a Absolute layout, these views allow you to "stack" or add layers to the UI.
Code example:
<AbsoluteLayout
BackgroundColor="Green"
HorizontalOptions="FillAndExpand"
VerticalOptions="FillAndExpand">
<StackLayout AbsoluteLayout.LayoutBounds="1,1,1,1" AbsoluteLayout.LayoutFlags="All">
<Button Clicked="Button_Clicked" Text="Coso" />
<Button Clicked="Button_Clicked_1" Text="Show popup" />
</StackLayout>
<Frame
x:Name="closeFrame"
AbsoluteLayout.LayoutBounds="1,1,1,1"
AbsoluteLayout.LayoutFlags="All"
BackgroundColor="Red"
IsVisible="false">
<Frame.GestureRecognizers>
<TapGestureRecognizer NumberOfTapsRequired="1" Tapped="TapGestureRecognizer_Tapped" />
</Frame.GestureRecognizers>
</Grid>
<Frame
x:Name="popupGrid"
AbsoluteLayout.LayoutBounds="0.5,0.5,0.5,0.5"
AbsoluteLayout.LayoutFlags="All"
BackgroundColor="Yellow"
IsVisible="false">
<Label Text="Close ouside this" TextColor="Black" />
</Frame>
</AbsoluteLayout>
In code behind you turn the visibile on/off of the element

xamarin navigation bar not showing TitleView

New to Xamarin and I'm trying to create a custom navigation bar in my Cross-Platform App. After some reading I found that I might be able to use the the title-view component in my xaml page file like below.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<ContentPage xmlns="http://xamarin.com/schemas/2014/forms"
xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2009/xaml"
x:Class="amici.MyGroups">
<NavigationPage.TitleView>
<StackLayout Orientation="Horizontal" VerticalOptions="Center" Spacing="10">
<Label HorizontalOptions="StartAndExpand" Text="Left"/>
<Label HorizontalOptions="CenterAndExpand" Text="Center"/>
<Label HorizontalOptions="EndAndExpand" Text="Right"/>
</StackLayout>
</NavigationPage.TitleView>
<ContentPage.Content>
<ScrollView>
<Grid x:Name="grid1">
<StackLayout>
<Label Text="Welcome"
VerticalOptions="CenterAndExpand"
HorizontalOptions="CenterAndExpand" />
</StackLayout>
<ActivityIndicator x:Name="WaitIcon" IsRunning="{Binding IsBusy}" VerticalOptions="Center" HorizontalOptions="Center" />
</Grid>
</ScrollView>
</ContentPage.Content>
</ContentPage>
I navigate to my page "MyGroups" like this : Navigation.PushAsync(new MyGroups());.
However, the only thing that shows is the default navigation page with the back icon arrow?
obliviously I missing something, or I don't understand something. Does this need to be done at the application level?
If you are using Shell in your Xamarin.Forms app than you will have to use <Shell.TitleView> instead of <NavigationPage.TitleView>. Below code worked for me...
<Shell.TitleView>
<Label Text="QR Code" HorizontalTextAlignment="End" Margin="0,0,10,0" Padding="0" VerticalTextAlignment="Center" TextColor="White" FontSize="20"/>
</Shell.TitleView>
As XAML states:
<NavigationPage.TitleView> .. </NavigationPage.TitleView>
You could set a totally custom View as a NavigationBar, however, this is possible only on NavigationPages. Your code is partly correct because you set the NavigationPage.TitleView not on a NavigationPage:
Navigation.PushAsync(new MyGroups())
If you will navigate to a NavigationPage:
Navigation.PushAsync(new NavigationPage(new MyGroups()))
You should see your custom NavigationPage.TitleView. The outcome, however, will depend on your current navigation model and you may end up with multiple navigation bars. That is because you will nest a NavigationPage within another NavigationPage.
I would strongly recommend reading the official documentation on this topic so it would become clear for you.
You can also set Navigation with MainPage like
MainPage = new NavigationPage(new PageName());

Space around in xamarin forms

Im using xamarin forms.
i wanna design my xaml files but i realized something strange.
left and right of entry has space that i couldnt remove even with custom renderer.
is there any idea what is might be?
i tried padding,margin,HorizontalOption none of them effected.
even i tried to setPadding to 0 from custom renderer in android but it didnt work.
the first one is label as you can see filled out all the space but entry has an space around it .
Update:
this is my xaml codes and im using android emulator to test.
<StackLayout BackgroundColor="White" Spacing="15">
<Label Text="fds" HorizontalOptions="FillAndExpand" VerticalOptions="FillAndExpand" BackgroundColor="Red"/>
<Entry BackgroundColor="Red" HorizontalOptions="FillAndExpand" VerticalOptions="FillAndExpand"/>
</StackLayout>
don't know how is your implementation but this what I tried:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<ContentPage
xmlns:bases="clr-namespace:WhiteSolution.Views.Bases"
xmlns="http://xamarin.com/schemas/2014/forms"
xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2009/xaml"
xmlns:viewModelBase="clr-namespace:WhiteSolution.ViewModels.Bases"
viewModelBase:ViewModelLocator.AutoWireViewModel="True"
x:Class="WhiteSolution.Views.HomePage">
<ContentPage.Content>
<Grid VerticalOptions="FillAndExpand"
BackgroundColor="WhiteSmoke">
<StackLayout Padding="0"
Spacing="0"
BackgroundColor="Blue">
<Label Text="no space label"
Margin="0"
HorizontalOptions="FillAndExpand"
HorizontalTextAlignment="Center"
BackgroundColor="Yellow"
FontSize="Large"/>
<Entry Text="no space entry"
Margin="0"
BackgroundColor="Red"
HorizontalOptions="FillAndExpand"
HorizontalTextAlignment="Center"
FontSize="Large"/>
</StackLayout>
</Grid>
</ContentPage.Content>
</ContentPage>
and i get this result
if you share your code it will be more useful
Try this, Padding Property should be 0 in main StackLayout.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<ContentPage xmlns="http://xamarin.com/schemas/2014/forms"
xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2009/xaml"
x:Class="SampleApp.Views.DashboardView">
<ContentPage.Content>
<StackLayout Padding="0" BindingContext="{Binding Dashboard}">
<!-- Controls -->
</StackLayout>
</ContentPage.Content>
I realized that entry has Default margin value. so i set it to 0 and everything worked.
here is my code
<StackLayout>
<Entry Margin="0" Text="fd" BackgroundColor="Red" HorizontalOptions="FillAndExpand" VerticalOptions="FillAndExpand"/>
<Label Text="fd" BackgroundColor="Red" HorizontalOptions="FillAndExpand" VerticalOptions="FillAndExpand"/>
</StackLayout>

Background Image XAML

I am trying to incorporate a background image into my App using Xaml. I have tried various different methods but none seem to working. My code at the minute is
<ContentPage xmlns="http://xamarin.com/schemas/2014/forms"
xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2009/xaml"
xmlns:local="clr-namespace:Cabiee;assembly=Cabiee"
BackgroundImage="CabieBackground.jpg"
x:Class="Cabiee.Login">
<ContentPage.Content>
<StackLayout VerticalOptions="CenterAndExpand" HeightRequest="500">
<Entry
x:Name="usernameEntry"
Placeholder="Email"/>
<Entry
x:Name="passwordEntry"
IsPassword="true"
Placeholder="*********"
Completed="PasswordEntry_Completed"/>
<StackLayout Orientation="Horizontal">
<Button
x:Name="BtnCustomer"
Text="Customer"
HorizontalOptions="FillAndExpand"
VerticalOptions="FillAndExpand"
FontSize="30"
Clicked="BtnCustomer_Clicked"/>
<Button
x:Name="BtnDriver"
Text="Driver"
HorizontalOptions="FillAndExpand"
VerticalOptions="FillAndExpand"
FontSize="30"
Clicked="BtnDriver_Clicked"/>
</StackLayout>
<RelativeLayout HorizontalOptions="CenterAndExpand" >
<Button
x:Name="BtnRegister"
WidthRequest="300"
Text="Register"
FontSize="30"
Clicked="BtnRegister_Clicked"
/>
</RelativeLayout>
</StackLayout>
</ContentPage.Content>
And this what my solution explorer looks like: https://gyazo.com/0af186bbca7e8456dfb1e7b1bafcb7ad
I have CabieBackground.jpg in my Resources folder so that is displays on android but when i run the code nothing appears on the screen, it just blank
The background image was made in photoshop, the dimensions are: 640px by 1136 px with a resolution of 600 pixels/inch
You need to put your image in drawable folder. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/xamarin/xamarin-forms/user-interface/images?tabs=windows#local-images
As said in the comment, you should also ensure that the image has right properties as copy and paste make wrong properties.
