Dissociate Searchbar from TableView in UIViewcontroller - objective-c

I try to separate a tableview from its searchbar. Is it possible to add a Searchbar in a UIView (xib file / storyboard) at one place of a viewcontroller, then add a containerview targeting a tableview at an other place of the UIView and then linking both to have them working together as if we had added the searchbar directly a tableviewcontroller?
I need to have some space between my searchbar and my first row of the tableview to insert labels that have to stay in place without being thrown away when scrolling down...
The searchbar is working properly when inserted directly inside the tableviewcontroller. Ideally I just would like to insert a new object (the searchbar) and connecting it (delegate,...) to the tableviewcontroller inside the containerview.
Is it possible? Something like the image below...
Thanks!

Storyboard - insert a Searchbar and linked it to the containerview (tableviewcontroller)

I had a tableviewcontroller with a SearchController I managed programmatically. For some reasons, I need to have a storyboard to display things a bit differently not anymore a tabéeview in full screen.
Everything is going fine with a container view inside my storyboard. The container view is linked to my custom tableviewcontroller which was managing my searchbar. When I instantiate an object, I can see my custom tableView (with a searchbar lying at the top) in the same way it was before.
I would like to remove the search bar embeded to my tableview (i.e in my tableviewcontroller) and add it directly in the storyboard (to have more at the top of my screen with free space between the search bar and the table view. I tried to insert a searchbar and displaycontroller but I am stuck in the sense I cannot link the searchBar to my tableViewController.
How can I do to link the searchbar in the UIViewController to the tableviewcontroller in the containerview? My tableviewcontroller conforms to the protocol necessary to have a searchbar working still there was no problem when they were not gathered inside a storyboard.
Here is an image if it can help.
If anyone could help me to link the searchbar and the tableviewcontroller...
Thanks!

Cannot assign UITableview in xib to custom tableviewcontroller

I know this problem has been tackled quite a lot over there but I stil cannot find a solution in this case.
Basically, I have a tableviewcontroller called "TableViewController" that inherits for some reason from another class called "BaseTableViewController" (which inherits from UITableViewController). Everything works fine when I initialize an instance of TableViewController. I have my tableview in full screen.
Because I added a searchbar (which is working) and needed more room for other elements to be displayed, I want to insert this table view inside a UIView. I created an other UIViewController ("MainView") with a xib file and I added a tableview object as a subview.
My problem is I don't know how I can assign this tableview to my custom class I was using before ("TableViewController"). I tired to import the header file (TableViewController.h) in the header file of MainView.h but it does not seem to solve the problem.
Would anyone have an idea how I could link the tableview inside a UIView to a custom tableviewcontroller?
Thanks!
If it can help, below is my mainview with a tableview object I would like to be linked to my custom tableviewcontroller in order to have it with my datasource, delegate, search bar, etc. I cannot insert "tableViewController" in the custom class.

Navigation Buttons + UICollectionview on same controller?

I'm newbie with iOS and asking for direction.
I want to make a page which contains navigation buttons on top and when tap load different UICollectionView's as you can see on the app screen taken from "Fancy". Also buttons line have to be fixed on top while scrolling down. (just like in the screenshot)
Which is the right approach?
Base class to be UICollectionViewController and adding as SubView
Using UIScrollViewController?
etc...
Thanks in advance.
Base class should be UiViewController implementing UICollectionViewDelegate
UIViewController <UICollectionViewDataSource,UICollectionViewDelegate,UICollectionViewDelegateFlowLayout>
Create different NSArray for each Category of your project as datasource of UICollectionView
use UISegmentedControl for switching the datasource of UICollectionView and reload UICollectionView to display different content.
You can customise your Segmented Control as you wanted.
Implement UITabbarController for the bottom bar to enter any other views
There are a number of ways to go about this. The simplest would probably be to use a UIViewController subclass whose view contains a UISegmentedControl subview (for the navigation controls) and a UICollectionView subview for the content.

Combined UITableView with other elements - how to create and use the view?

Ive a project close to doing everything I need it to do. Its got a Main page which has four buttons that allow you to choose an option. Then a tableview page is launched from those options and displays a parsed XML feed from a website. You can then select one of the options in the table to see a detail view of the item, enquire about it, etc.
My problem is I need to add more elements to the TableViewController page, other than the tableview itself. I want a customized back button (not the navigation controller standard) plus some labels, images, etc.
In the TableViewController xib, the tableview itself fills the page. I cant resize it to add more elements above it. I can add a 'view' window seemingly above the tableview and put things in it. But it seems to add the view to the tableview. This means that when I scroll the table, the other elements like new back button, scroll away as part of the table.
So I'm led to wonder whether I need this page not to be a tableviewcontroller, but a viewcontroller, with a tableview inside it, as well as my other view with buttons, etc. Is that the right way to go? But if thats the case, then how do I instantiate the tableviewcontroller within code? Because my page will not be of that type anymore - it will be just a viewcontroller. But in code Im making a tableviewcontroller .. slightly scared by that route tbh.
Any illumination on this would be much appreciated, as various searches have left me none the wiser. Thanks.
To customize it, this is the way to go:
Change your class to be a view controller instead, which implements the TableViewDelegate and TableViewData Source protocols.
In the view didLoad of you controller, create the table view, set its delegate, data source, and any other properties you wish and add it as a subview to your view.
tableView = [[[UITableView alloc] init] autorelease];
tableView.delegate = self;
tableView.dataSource = self;
// .. Other customization
[self.view addSubview:tableView];
I suggest doing this programatically rather than IB.
Instead of a UITableViewController, you want a UIViewController that has an IBOutlet UITableView. Drag and drop a UITableView component from Storyboard and hook it up, and position it as needed on the screen. This UIViewController should implement the UITableViewDelegate and UITableViewDataSource methods.
Edit: Remember that a UITableViewController is just a subclass of UIViewController so you don't really have to get rid of all your code. :) You only need to make minor tweaks to your header and main file, and change the Storyboard to be a UIViewController instead of UITableViewController as I mentioned above.

Why isn't my tableview visible?

I'm an sdk newbie, so please forgive the simplicity of this question. Here's the scenario:
I used the Utility Based application template because I like the flip effect of the info button. I changed the info button to a round rect button and made a copy of it that to have two round rect buttons on my first view. I modified the flipside view to display a picture and that functionality works fine. For the second button I wanted it to flip to a tableview underneath the navigation bar. I added a navViewController for the navigation bar and a TableViewController for the tableview. I made a nib for that View, added the tableview, hooked up all the appropriate connections, but when I run it, the flip works fine, but there is no tableview displayed. What I mean by no tableview is it is blank. No lines or anything, just a blank navigation bar at top and blank white space. Please help! Thanks!
With limited information you have given here:
Potential Problem 1 - First Level UIViewController is not linked
If you open NIB file in interface builder where you have drag and dropped NavigationViewController, you will see small disclosure triangle. If you expand that you will see NavigationBar and UIViewController. Select the UIViewController and change it to name of the TableViewController.
The NIB file will change and say View Loaded from YourTableViewController.
Potential Problem 2 - You have to do addSubView or insertSubView and pass in [navigationController view]
If you post some code it may be helpful.
Hope this Helps!
