I have given a task by my Project Manager and he has asked me to "Test a phone number using selenium". He has asked me to cover all the test cases possible to test a phone number
The test cases are given below:
1. Phone number must contain digits only.
2. Phone number length should be 10.
3. It should not contain alphabets.
4. It should not contain symbols.
5. It should not contain the combination of alphanumerics.
6. Phone number should not start with 0.
Please help me in testing all these test cases in automation.
i conform with the comments above, in agreement; i also don't condone answering questions like this, but something like this is so easy in selenium that it won't take me long to write.
this is all pseudo-code in java.
void testCase1() {
// digits only
setPhoneNumber("+12345a5434")
clickSubmit()
validateErrorMessage("ERROR: Your phone number contains letters")
}
void testCase2() {
// length should be ten
setPhoneNumber("+123456789")
clickSubmit()
validateErrorMessage("ERROR: Phone numbers should be ten-digits long")
}
void testCase3() {
testCase1() // this test case is the exact same as #1
}
void testCase4() {
setPhoneNumber("+|123456t890")
clickSubmit()
validateErrorMessage("ERROR: Your phone number contains invalid characters")
}
void testCase5() {
testCase1()
testCase3()
testCase4()
// already covered in both these cases
}
void testCase6() {
setPhoneNumber("+0123456789")
clickSubmit()
validateErrorMessage("ERROR: your phone number starts with 0")
}
void validTestCase() {
setPhoneNumber("+1234567890")
clickSubmit()
validateErrorMessage(null)
validateElementPresent(".success")
}
mind you this is al pseudo-code. you don't specify which language you are using, nor any html. I don't condone answering this type of question - but your task is so easy that i figured i'd write it out in pseudo-code.

Logging VkResult enum values
The VkResult enum contains a lot of values. Unfortunately though, they are C enums which aliases an integer, so I cannot easily just log their names to the console. For this purpose, I am envisioning a function which does something like this:
void graphics::log_vk_result(VkResult result)
{
switch (result)
{
case VK_SUCCESS:
log_core_debug("VK_SUCCESS"); return;
case VK_NOT_READY:
log_core_debug("VK_NOT_READY"); return;
[...]
}
But some of the enum values are only supported by certain extensions, as indicated here. An example: The extension VK_EXT_debug_report introduces the following value to the enumeration: VK_ERROR_VALIDATION_FAILED_EXT. So my idea for (potentially) more portable code would be something like this:
void graphics::log_vk_result(VkResult result)
{
switch (result)
{
[...]
#if defined(VK_EXT_DEBUG_REPORT_EXTENSION_NAME)
case VK_ERROR_VALIDATION_FAILED_EXT:
log_core_debug("VK_ERROR_VALIDATION_FAILED_EXT");
#endif
}
I found this name by looking at the extension manual page. I cannot easily see whether or not VK_EXT_DEBUG_REPORT_EXTENSION_NAME is a macro or an enum - it is a const char* but stated under the section "New Enum Constants". So checking for this particular value, for this particular extension, was my default choice.
[I do realize this extension is marked as deprecated, and I'm not using it! I only use it as an example here.]
I have two questions:
Is this needed?
Is this the correct way of doing this?
Thanks a lot!
All of this is unnecessary, since Vulkan SDK already includes the desired functionality:
#include <vulkan/vk_enum_string_helper.h>
void graphics::log_vk_result( const VkResult result ){
log_core_debug( string_VkResult(result) );
}
I am building a Capacited Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows, but with one small difference when compared to the one provided in examples from the documentation: I don't have a depot. Instead, each order has a pickup step, and a delivery step, in two different locations.
(like in the Vehicle Routing example from the documentation, the previousStep planning variable has the CHAINED graph type, and its valueRangeProviderRefs includes both Drivers, and Steps)
This difference adds a couple of constraints:
the pickup and delivery steps of a given order must be handled by the same driver
the pickup must be before the delivery
After experimenting with constraints, I have found that it would be more efficient to implement two types of custom moves:
assign both steps of an order to a driver
rearrange the steps of a driver
I am currently implementing that first custom move. My solver's configuration looks like this:
SolverFactory<RoutingProblem> solverFactory = SolverFactory.create(
new SolverConfig()
.withSolutionClass(RoutingProblem.class)
.withEntityClasses(Step.class, StepList.class)
.withScoreDirectorFactory(new ScoreDirectorFactoryConfig()
.withConstraintProviderClass(Constraints.class)
)
.withTerminationConfig(new TerminationConfig()
.withSecondsSpentLimit(60L)
)
.withPhaseList(List.of(
new LocalSearchPhaseConfig()
.withMoveSelectorConfig(CustomMoveListFactory.getConfig())
))
);
My CustomMoveListFactory looks like this (I plan on migrating it to an MoveIteratorFactory later, but for the moment, this is easier to read and write):
public class CustomMoveListFactory implements MoveListFactory<RoutingProblem> {
public static MoveListFactoryConfig getConfig() {
MoveListFactoryConfig result = new MoveListFactoryConfig();
result.setMoveListFactoryClass(CustomMoveListFactory.class);
return result;
}
#Override
public List<? extends Move<RoutingProblem>> createMoveList(RoutingProblem routingProblem) {
List<Move<RoutingProblem>> moves = new ArrayList<>();
// 1. Assign moves
for (Order order : routingProblem.getOrders()) {
Driver currentDriver = order.getDriver();
for (Driver driver : routingProblem.getDrivers()) {
if (!driver.equals(currentDriver)) {
moves.add(new AssignMove(order, driver));
}
}
}
// 2. Rearrange moves
// TODO
return moves;
}
}
And finally, the move itself looks like this (nevermind the undo or the isDoable for the moment):
#Override
protected void doMoveOnGenuineVariables(ScoreDirector<RoutingProblem> scoreDirector) {
assignStep(scoreDirector, order.getPickupStep());
assignStep(scoreDirector, order.getDeliveryStep());
}
private void assignStep(ScoreDirector<RoutingProblem> scoreDirector, Step step) {
StepList beforeStep = step.getPreviousStep();
Step afterStep = step.getNextStep();
// 1. Insert step at the end of the driver's step list
StepList lastStep = driver.getLastStep();
scoreDirector.beforeVariableChanged(step, "previousStep"); // NullPointerException here
step.setPreviousStep(lastStep);
scoreDirector.afterVariableChanged(step, "previousStep");
// 2. Remove step from current chained list
if (afterStep != null) {
scoreDirector.beforeVariableChanged(afterStep, "previousStep");
afterStep.setPreviousStep(beforeStep);
scoreDirector.afterVariableChanged(afterStep, "previousStep");
}
}
The idea being that at no point I'm doing an invalid chained list manipulation:
However, as the title and the code comment indicate, I am getting a NullPointerException when I call scoreDirector.beforeVariableChanged. None of my variables are null (I've printed them to make sure). The NullPointerException doesn't occur in my code, but deep inside Optaplanner's inner workings, making it difficult for me to fix it:

Is there something I did wrong? It seems I am following the documentation for custom moves fairly closely, outside of the fact that I am using exclusively java code instead of drools.
The initial solution I feed to the solver has all of the steps assigned to a single driver. There are 15 drivers and 40 orders.
In order to bypass this error, I have tried a number of different things:
remove the shadow variable annotation, turn Driver into a problem fact, and handle the nextStep field myself => this makes no difference
use Simulated Annealing + First Fit Decreasing construction heuristics, and start with steps not assigned to any driver (this was inspired by looking up the example here, which is more complete than the one from the documentation) => the NullPointerException appears on afterVariableChanged instead, but it still appears.
a number of other things which were probably not very smart
But without a more helpful error message, I can't think of anything else to try.
Thank you for your help
Whenever I run my compiled code, it displays the largest number but it doesn't display the second largest number correctly. Here is my code:
package twoLargestNumbers;
import java.util.Scanner;
//find two largest numbers
public class twoLargestNumbers {
public static void main(String[] args) {
// TODO Auto-generated method stub
Scanner input=new Scanner(System.in);
int num;
int counter=0;
int largest=0;//largest
int second=0;//second largest
System.out.println("Enter number:");
num=input.nextInt();
while(counter<5){
num=input.nextInt();
if(num>largest){
second=largest;//store largest to second largest
largest=num;//store largest to inputted number
}
else{
if(num>second)
second=num;//store second number to inputed number
}
counter=counter+1;
}
System.out.println("largest number is "+largest);
System.out.println("and second largest number is "+second);
}
}
What am I doing wrong? I reread and read this code and I cannot find out what the error is.
Remove the num=input.nextInt() before the while loop starts.
The initial input is being called and then straight away after the "first" input in the while method is called.
A couple of other tips, usually for a defined length of loop (in this case, 5) you would use a for loop to show your intent a bit more.
Also you can increment counter doing: counter++; or counter += 1;
Assuming the intent of your program is to ask for 5 numbers of input and then display the largest two, that should all help. Hope it did.
Also I don't think this block of code is needed, the second largest is already being stored in the first if statement.
else{
if(num>second)
second=num;//store second number to inputed number
}
I have a web automation framework set up that works pretty well. I have a constant issue though that when using SendKeys to write to textboxes, quite often a letter gets missed out. So for example, if my dataset is "TestUserName", something like "TestUerName" gets sent example with a missing letter.
This is a big issue for me, as after the web tests concludes successfully I further check if the database was updated properly. So in the above example I would go to the UserName column and expect to find TestUserName, but the test would fail because TestUerName is found instead.
Any ideas please? I am using selenium 2.53.0.
My code below.
public void inputValue (Object [][] valuesFromExcel)
{
for (int rowNow = 0; rowNow < (valuesFromExcel.length); rowNow++)
{
String newValue = valuesFromExcel[rowNow][0].toString();
if (!newValue.equals(""))
{
WebElement currentElement = driver.findElement(By.id(valuesFromExcel[rowNow][1].toString()));
if (currentElement.getTagName().equals("input"))
{
currentElement.sendKeys(newValue);
}
else if (currentElement.getTagName().equals("select"))
{
new Select(currentElement).selectByVisibleText(newValue);
}
}
}
}
Thanks.
Instead of sending as a string, send it as char...
Convert the string to char and send each char one by one to the text box. Yes there will be a performance issue, but it works fine. It will not skip any of the letters
I was wondering what conditions were used to check the connection at the other end of the line.
Case 1: Computer dials a number, and a human picks up the phone, computer disconnects and moves on to the next phone number.
Case 2: Computer dials a number, and a modem answers, computer disconnects and records the number as being a computer.
What sort of if/else statement would be used for this?
You could of course do it recursively, using something similar to this...
void TryNumber(int _number)
{
if(_number > m_maxNumber) return; // exit out from the method if we've gone over our max number to dial
DialNumber(_number);
if(m_modemToneDetected) m_modemList.Add(number); // add number to a list if it's a modem
TryNumber(_number + 1); // and back in to the method again!
}
m_modemToneDetected being a boolean that would be adjusted during the call to DialNumber()
while(currentNumber < numbersToDial)
{
DialNumber(number)
if(ModemToneDetected)
{
// it's a computer
AddNumberToList(number);
}
else
{
// it's not a computer
}
}
