XAML Desinger window too small - xaml

I am trying to transition into windows app development. However, when i use vs 2015 the designer box is really small. When I drag anything from the toolbox to the designer window it doesn't show up. Everything shows when I run the build but not in the designer. I've been googling and looking through stack but i can't find the answer. Can someone tell me how to get the designer to work.

VS 2010 Windows Form App - One Form has a different visual style - why?

I am building my first "real" VB Window Forms Application (I'm a "traditional programmer") and my application has perhaps half a dozen forms.
On execution all of these forms have the Windows 10 visual style (eg: grey on white max/min/close buttons at top right)... except for 1 form, which seems to be rendering in Win XP style (eg: Blue and red button style).
I have checked that "Enable XP Visual Styles" is UNClicked in the Project Properties, but this one form stubbornly refused to change.
I have a number of my forms that also appear in "XP style" in the VS Designer, but execute fine.
I suspect I may have enabled/disabled the "XP Visual Styles" option a couple of times, and perhaps initially created some forms when this was in different states... although I have no idea if this would have been the cause.
I really want this one form to be like all the others...
any ideas please? I am using VB in VS2010 (a bit old, but what I have to hand)
As I am quite new to VB so tell me what I can provide to help..
Many thanks,
David's comment has solved my immediate issue:
The single form appearing differently is indeed using Show() whereas the others are all ShowDialog(). There is no reason for me doing this, so I have changed it.

Resources causing transparent and erratic window behavior VB.net 2012

I'm not entirely sure what caused this, but just prior I had deleted an image that was set as a tab panels background image which caused some crashing of vb studio when opening anything to do with the project resources. I removed the image, then re-added it and everything seemed okay.
Now, no mater what I do i get all sorts of funky draw issues at runtime with my project; such as transparent text boxes in child forms (and if they are called not as a MDI child) and weird stuff such as clicks on the taskbar registering on windows behind.
Visual studio has also crashed a few times, especially when doing anything to do with the project resources.
Example Problem
Any one have idea what may be causing this? It seems to be related to the project resources or possibly tab panels.
(Visual Studio 2012 & Windows 10)
Just in case somebody finds this Question after all this time. I had the same Problem and i found, that the Transparency-Key of my form was set to White, so everything White became transparent (Textboxes, colored Labels, etc.). After deleting that, everything worked fine.
I use Visual Studio 2013, don't know if this doesn't work in the 2012 Version.

Visual Basic Form not updating to current design

I'm using visual basic 2008. My form is quite simple, with a few buttons and a few labels. Then I added a few more things, such as more buttons or more labels. These new elements show up in the design window, but they don't show when I debug the program. Debugging the program only brings up an older version of the program without the new elements. Screenshots:
Design window (what should show up when debugging)
What actually shows when debugging (an older version of the program)
Any help with this annoying issue is appreciated.

Custom Windows Form menu in vb.net

I want to make a Custom Windows Forms menu. Now, when I say "menu", I mean where the "Exit", "Maximize" and the "Minimize" icons are. I have seen in Microsoft Office software that Microsoft have done a custom WinForms Menu, and in many other software. I have done research for months, and searched so much and have not found anything! I have, found some companies which are currently selling Component Packages with Visual Basic, C# and Visual C++ components, however I do not have the money to buy one of these packages, therefore I need help making a custom Windows Form menu.
I would like to make a Custom Windows Form Menu as a "Ribbon" type. So, It will have a "Ribbon Form Menu". However, I do not wish to use any products or packages to do this for me, seen as I don't have money for them.
I have tried a number of ways for creating a Custom Form Menu:
Used a ToolStrip docked to the top of the form, and set the property of "Left to right" to True, and used buttons or labels for the "Exit", "Maximize" and "Minimize" buttons, although, this isn't really ideal, and I don't really want that anymore.
Used buttons at the top of the Form and docked a panel behind it to made it look like a custom form, but again, this isn't really ideal either.
Anyway, please can someone help me make a custom Windows Forms Menu? It would be nice if you could help me make it in the "Ribbon Style" too!
Please note this post is aimed at the Visual Basic Programming language.. I am using Visual Basic! :D
Thanks.
You have a few options, Firstly you can extend the ClientArea into the NonClientArea
and you would end up with something like: http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/44235/Painting-Vista-s-Aero-NonClientArea-in-VB-NET
After doing some digging i found a .net wrapper for the windows 7 ribbon control, I haven't tried using it yet but you might be able to make it work:
http://windowsribbon.codeplex.com/
Alternatively you can create it all from scratch, setting the FormBorderStyle to None and handling the moving/re-sizing etc by your own code.
As well as painting the Ribbon-like controls yourself.
The latter is a lot more work but is the most customizable, I hope this is helpful and gets you on the right track!

Visual Studio 2008 debugging: when I click on the play button, it flashes real quick

I am having a weird issue with VS 2008 when I go to debug my program. When I click on the play button to run the program it flashes real quick and goes back to the VB IDE. No matter how many times I click on the play button it continually flashes and then goes back without displaying my form window or anything.
What type of setting would I need to change in order to correct this issue? I've been through most settings in the "my project" section and i do not see anything that could be causing it to do something like this.
My older vb apps I've made seem to work just fine when I click the play button on them. Only noticed this problem whenever I go and make a new vb app.

Try this?
"
Did we install some third party Add-ins in your machine? If we disable Add-ins (“Tools” | “Add-in Manager”) and run “devenv.exe /safemode”, do we still have the problem? This can eliminate the possibility that third party Add-ins are causing problems.
We also can try to run devenv /resetsettings (Commonly, it makes sense than re-installation) or devenv /setup in Visual Studio Command Prompt.

Just check your output window.
Accessible from Menu-> Debug-> Windows -> Output. (Check image:1)
In output window select Show output from: Build combobox. (Check image:2)
This will give you perfect idea what is happening.
Following are the guesses.
The VBC installer is not installed or corrupted.
Some addon is registered to run before compiling and is creating problem.
....Long list until you tell whats shown in output window.
Also check Show output from: Debug in output window and Final check would be Immediate window.
I feel this three would give you hint whats going wrong.
Fixed.
Changing it to x86 instead of Any CPU worked!!!! :) But question is, why me having an Core i7 Quad doesn't support the program when i choose x64.....
David
Is the startup form correct? You can see that in project properties.
