I copied my project from one local pc to another local pc (no network involved).
I did this using export to zip and import. I can open project on the target pc, and I can open each source program (there are 4), but the source code on all are greyed out and I cannot make changes, nor can I run file.
I read the questions that may already answer this problem, but none applied to me.
Files in question are JAVA Netbeans source code. Don't know how to determine if they were flagged as read only on the target PC. Did not have this problem on the source PC.
I have been working on this all day.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

So I made a few gamemaker games about 11 years ago and tried to run the exe file.
When I run the exe file, nothing really happens just an error box pops up saying you can find out more here. And it points to 3 .tmp files located in the Temp folder on my computer.
Anyone know how to get these exe files working again?
The older versions of game maker games use an old runner that does not work with the newer versions of window (from Vista and up).
Using compatibilty mode does not fix this.
There is however a fix available that replaces the runner in the EXE with an updated one.
The tool was posted by Mark Overmars (the original creator of Game Maker) but the link in his topic is no longer active (the .zip does download but its an HTML page, not the actual tool).

It did work for me and using this program I was able to run a lot of older gm4 + games that I have played before on windows XP.
If its a must - you can always try to run it on an XP machine.
TL;DR:
There is a tool to make them work, I will upload it tonight.
EDIT: Turns out YoYoGames has the tool posted themselves;

You can extract all the files to a directory, then drag your old .exe file onto the converter exe. It will then create a game_old.exe and game.exe and then you should be able to run the game.exe one.
Okay, This question has probably been asked before but I can't seem to solve it with anything that I've seen.
I published my program and tried setting it up on another computer. At first it gave me this error:
"Unable to install or run the application. the application requires that assembly microsoft.reportviewer.processingobjectmodel version 9.0.0.0 be installed in the global assembly cache (GAC) first."
After searching I found that including everything in the 'Application Files' before publishing made that go away, only to be replaced with
'Application cannot be started. Contact the application vendor.'
After searching and doing a lot of things on the computer that I want this program to be setup on, I checked (Crystal Report Basic For Visual Studio 2008 (x84, x64)) in the Prerequisite.
On the Computer that I need this program on, it won't download this at all. It gives me a message box to either retry or cancel.
Some pages suggest that the Crystal report package that automatically downloads is not the right one. When I tried following what is said here, I got stuck because the links won't open.
Any help appreciated, It's frustrating because I've been working on this program for months and I get stuck on the last step :/
oh .. and ... I don't know if this has anything to do with this, but I built the program using Windows 7, then updated to Windows 8, then updated to Windows 10.
I finally managed to make it work :)
Here is what I did:
I followed this video and I was able to install my program to the other computer.
When I opened it, I got a problem that the program can't find my MS Access DataBase, so I went to the setup project -> Right click -> add -> File, And I navigated to my original project's folder and added everything in there, and Viola! ... It works :)
I hope this helps somebody else :)
Alright. This is utterly puzzling.
I am developing a game project with Xcode 4.1.
The project files are always with me in an USB stick, because I am constantly developing the project on many different Macs.
So I come to a workstation, paste a copy of the project in the USB stick to the desktop, and start working on that copy. When I am done developing, I delete the project in the USB stick, and then copy the one in the workstation's desktop back to the USB stick.
For some reason, my file GameData.h and GameData.m are not properly updated. But everything else in the project is. Basically, I made some edits to GameData, and when I got back home, I noticed that GameData is not the same as the one I was editing a while back. In fact, it only has code I wrote yesterday.
What could be wrong? Why is that file the only thing that never gets copied properly?
Check to make sure your GameData.m/.h files are where you think they are. Select one of them in the navigator tree, right click, select Show in Finder. Examine the file it points to - is it in the same directory as it's project peers, does it have correct (writable) permissions, is it an alias to another file, etc.?
Sometimes you can get into trouble (usually with libs) by adding them to the project, but not checking the box that says "copy into destination group's folder if necessary". In this case, XCode tries to find the file in that other directory (which may not be on all of your Mac machines) rather than the directory where all the other project files are.
I have noticed that occasionally xCode either fails to save a file or fails to rebuild after a file has been changed. It seems to happen on some projects and not others (I've noticed it mostly on a desktop app, but never on phone apps). I have no idea why this happens.
A colleague of mine has been working on a project in Codewarrior and I have come on board to assist.
When trying to open the .mcp project file that she has created (and is working fine on her codewarrior) I get the following error.
Similarly - when I try to open her workspace file, I get the following error.
Important to note, we are using the exact same versions of codewarrior and I am able to open and work with other codewarrior projects.
Anyone had this problem before?
This seemed to be caused by SVN interpreting this as a non-binary file. Problem was solved by exporting her codewarrior project to an XML file and then importing this to my machine, creating my own .mcp file.
Simple really - just putting an answer up in-case someone googles across this again.
I can't shake this error when compiling my Visual Studio.NET 2008 solution. The project that's generating the error is a VB.NET Web Application in a 12 project solution (mixed types and languages).
I've tried all the tricks I can find on google, and the obvious of removing the directoy and folder manually.
I'm running Vista Business 32 with VS.NET 2008 SP1. This just started happening out of the blue today and I've rebooted a bunch and even re-applied SP1 for VS.NET.
Any ideas or has anybody seen this?
vbc : error BC31019: Unable to write to output file 'G:\Projects\TCA.NET\TcaNet\WebUI\obj\Debug\TcaNet.WebUI.pdb': Unspecified error
Update:
After thinking about this and not finding any solutions from answers or via the Internet, I went ahead and moved my entire solution to my C:\ drive vs. my G:\ drive (both are local). Doing this fixed my compile problem for some reason.
I had the same error a few weeks ago when I was compiling on my server from my laptop. Turns out that if G: is a network drive, this could fail. Microsoft have said that fixing this is not a priority, and that there's much better ways of doing things (such as source control). For a one-man project though, it's a pain.
Restart IIS on local.
If that's not the issue then, install Unlocker and try to delete that pdb file when you get the error, Unlocker will tell you which process is holding an open handle to that file.
I have found a list of thing to try to fix your problem :
Zen-turkey Fix list
Hope this help!
maybe it is a dependency problem. check the build order of all the projects..
sysinternals tools should be of help here. using process explorer, are you able to find out if any process is locking this file? another useful tool is process monitor. after applying a filter for the pdb file, capture a trace of all file access activity..
It's probably bug in VB.NET compiler. The error message is incorrect, the real problem is missing file referenced from the project file. For example .vb file.
In my case, I found the missing file and added it, then devenv compiled fine again.
Someone reported that to MS here
Although it is very old thread, but I got this error today and the following link solved it. Hope it help someone reading this.

I had this in Visual Studio 2005 except it was Error 1. I restarted my machine and it fixed the problem.
