Do you have any intention to integrate your service with Amazon Echo (Alexa)? I believe it would be a great opportunity for you, because currently there is no easy way to connect your phone to the Amazon Echo. I know it would save me several missed calls if my Amazon Echo would ring when my phone rings. Is there any way to do this currently though my PC? When I am at home, I tend to leave my phone charging and usually cannot hear when I am receiving a call. If I can connect it to a device that would ring louder, such as the amazon echo or my pc, it would be very useful and I think a lot of others would find this feature beneficial as well if it were available and they knew it existed.
The Echo doesn't work like that. It can only respond to input from the user, it cannot initiate an interaction. To implement what you have described you would have to start the conversation by asking the echo "Alexa, do I have an incoming call" and she could then check and answer.
Update: Amazon just released the Echo Connect in Feb 2018. It turns your Echo into a speaker phone. Search for it on Amazon.

I am currently working on a IoT device (Air Quality Monitor)
I am little confused how to provide Amazon Alexa integration with this device, could someone shed some light on this.?
I did make a Google Smart Home connection based on this ask. Now i have a success connection with google home and i'm interesting to make a similar connection for Amazon Alexa and Apple Siri (if possible).
Note: I not use Amazon Web Services!!
Thanks in advance
You have two options: either implement your own skill, or use a predefined voice model that Alexa Smart Home provides. The later should be faster, since you don't need to create your own voice model.
Need to access Dialup terminal transnational history
I'm a software engineer and thus far my world has been on the internet. So any payment processing I've ever doen has been through Gateways (Auth.net, SecureNet, ...etc) However I have a new project that requires me to deal with physical terminals. Some terminals that are linked to WiFi or Ethernet are exactly the same they just go through the gateway and and the backend API continue to work. Dialup terminals are apparently different and skip a gateway all together.
Does anyone know how I can get a dialup terminal's transactional history via some backend API?
So I called up the gateway (securenet) and they are telling me that I wouldnt get terminal transaction history via the API. This was confusing because the API documentation states if there was a pin pad on site which would imply a terminal.
I also called up a terminal programming firm. They assured me that even if they wrote custom software to the terminal it still wouldnt have access to the transaction unless it was the processing software itself.
so the answer is I'm SOL
I would like to setup a Voip Server and Client for Windows but when I searched on Google, there was too many results and too many softwares.
I want to setup a Voip sytem for my Intranet, that's why I can't use Skype. Because all the user of my computer are in different rooms I would like to be able to call the users easily by a voice chat application.
What are the best free softwares ?
Thank your for your help.
EDIT 1: I think I didn't give enough details: Thank you mrescape for your help but I don't want to create a program, I just want to download one.
EDIT 2 : I finally discovered WebRTC and decided to use this technology, it will be much easier to setup in my environment...
About VoIP server you can use http://www.asteriskwin32.com. And about client you can use X-lite or Portgo, Linephone ...
I am developing an application on MAC OS . It needs to run continously i.e. if someone kills it , it has to restart on its own . I found a similar behavior in the Finder application in MAC. How can I implement this ???
Currently, I am using launchctl for this purpose but I am facing some problems with permissions and communication
launchctl is the way to do it. In order to get it set up, you need to understand about authorization services. The Authorization Services Programming Guide is a good place to start.
Does anyone know of an open source web service/wcf service that can stream media content to clients? In particular I am looking for something that could access my music collection and stream it to a client (could be a client browser, win mobile app or even iphone application).
I guess it would have to be WCF based as I'm not sure that webservices do streaming really well. Also Windows Media Streaming Services is not the best way to go as the service should operate from a vista/xp machine (preferably).
If not, does anyone know the best way to start going about creating something like this - I'm not sure I know where to start with this one, although I can see many many uses for such a service!
Even though it's not open source, Windows Server 2008 has a Streaming Media role that will do what you ask. Of course, you'll need to have a server to put it on.
I tried Orb and it is quite good, apart from the fact that it hijacked my tuner card so media center would no longer work. However I'm going to try and create a home grown version.
Orb (www.orb.com) will stream your media to just about anything with a web browser. I've been running it on an XP virtual machine for about a year. I love being able to stream my entire media collection to my phone while I'm working at a client's site.
While it isn't open source, it is free and relatively well supported. One of the best features is that the architecture is set up so that there are no special requirements for your firewall -- it just works.
