PHPUnit Selenium - how to get browser version? - selenium

Since the version of Selenium that we're currently using with PHPUnit does not appear to be compatible with versions of Firefox beyond version 42, we need to be able to have our tests check the version of the installed Firefox in case someone upgraded it and have it let us know that that's the issue as to why the tests failed.
Does anyone know how we can get the browser version? (Note: This is not a duplicate of this question, as we have do do it within the PHPUnit framework, and that question is about a Python solution that works directly with Selenium.)

Exact matching latest selenium chrome driver does not exist, what to do?

Our corporate google chrome has been recently updated to version 91.0.4472.77, for which I am not able to find chrome driver, which in turn causing problems in our existing automation code.
Can anyone please suggest any way to deal with this?
Chromdriver is not available for 91.0.4472.77
till the time it is available (probably within 2 days) you can try out the beta version
ChromeDriver 91.0.4472.19

Key Error: Session ID with latest version of GeckoDriver, FF, and Selenium

I recently upgraded the various pieces of our selenium suite, and when I updated the GeckoDriver to the latest version (0.16.1) I started encountering the following error during set up:
KeyError: 'sessionId'
I know this issue has been brought up here before, but I've checked the other threads and made sure I've followed the correct process. It seems the universal suggestion is to make sure everything is updated correctly.
I'm using robot framework with a modified version of their Selenium2Library to write and run the tests.
robot version is 3.0.2
selenium version is 3.4.3
FF version is 53.0.3
I have also tried altering my proxy settings following the guidance in the thread here(I am on a mac OS X El Capitan):
Why doesn't Selenium's response have a sessionId?
All of this is to no avail. The only thing I can do to get my tests back to a semi-functional state on firefox is to downgrade the geckodriver. I'd like to avoid that if possible, since this newest version has some bug fixes helpful to me.
Any guidance on what I should try next?
Upgrade version of selenium2Library. Current version is 1.8.0
Selenium2Library
Run Command
pip install robotframework-selenium2library --upgrade in cmd
Problem will be solved.
I've resolved this using the nuclear option -- I did a full uninstall of the three main dependencies in the original question and reinstalled through pip.
Latest versions seem to be in good shape. For some reason this resolved the underlying keyError. It does not appear that upgrading the Selenium2Library had any effect.

What is the compatible version of Selenium RC with Selenium IDE 2.5.0?

I have installed the selenium ide 2.5.0 add-on for firefox and after exporting the test case as Java/JUnit 4/ Web Driver. When I try to execute it with JUnit testing I always get exceptions when some class from selenium is not found. I have used selenium-api-4.2.0.jar and selenium-server-stendalone-2.42.2.jar. Than I have also tried switching from selenium-api-4.2.0.jar to selenium-api-2.42.2.jar but there always a class missing.
Which is the correct selenium-api and selenium-server-stendalone Jar to use for the 2.5.0 IDE?
Thnx in advace
This graphic in the documentation shows you how all the jars relate to each other. The selenium-server-standalone by itself contains all of those and all the dependencies.
Selenium IDE does not export code that uses the Selenium-RC API, it only uses Selenium WebDriver API.
Generally, unless you are doing something very particular, you want to use the latest stable release of everything.
If you still have problems, have a read through this, post your code, post your error messages.

Selenium not working in firefox 23.0.1 (Mac and Windows)

I have a client who had a script working and now stopped working. I run it in my computer and it works (i runned it on Linux and Windows). My client runned it on Mac and Windows.
I am new to Selenium, but the part of the code that crashes is where Selenium takes place, it gets the Firefox to open but not load the page. I think it migth be a problem with the webDriver of Selenium that must be updated.
I told him to install pip in his Mac and uninstall Selenium and reinstall it, is this how it is done in OS machines? Is there any issue related to my problem?
Thanks
It would be helpful if you had specify Selenium version and also which browser are you using and it's version too. But the behavior you described seems to be caused by having newer version of browser which the Selenium version you using doesn't support. So upgrading to newest version of Selenium (2.35) will likely make this problem disappear.

Selenium not working with Firefox 3.x on linux

I am using selenium-server , selenium rc for UI testing in my application . My dev box is Windows with FireFox 3.5 and every thing is running fine and cool. But when i try to run selenium tests on my build server which is a linux box , i get this error
Caution: '/usr/bin/firefox': file is a script file, not a real executable. The browser environment is no longer fully under RC control
basically the selenium-rc is not able to find the firefox executable on linux(actually its a .sh file here), which is present in the case of Windows .
Has anyone faced this error before. Please let me know for any pointers.
Thanks for any help

This is occurring because Selenium wants to start the FireFox binary directly, rather than delegate to the normal launch script. Before checking for "firefox" (which is a script on many installations), it checks for "firefox-bin". You can circumvent this problem by creating a link named "firefox-bin" that points directly at your desired version of the firefox binary.
This is described under "Ubuntu fix" (though it actually applies to other Linux'es as well) in the Cucumber Wiki at:

Hey, I have Selenium running on Karmic with no issues. I can't quite remember how I did it, but I think it was a case of grabbing a more recent version ot the selenium-rc-serve.jar.
I also remember looking at this post: http://tero.tilus.net/rutinat/2009/08/18/cucumber-running-selenium-on-debian-lenny/
Hope something there points you in the right direction!
