Capture Funds for Authorized Cards via API on Big Commerce - api

Currently, payments processed through certain credit card processors (example: Authorize.net) can be set to first authorize the fund, then later capture them when prompted in the UI via the admin interface.
I am hoping to capture funds of authorized orders (Big Commerce status 'awaiting payment') via the API rather than through the UI. I have not been able to find anything but a post from 3 years ago saying it was not yet possible. Is there now a way, or is this still something that cannot be done?
old thread: Is it possible to "capture funds" for authorized credit card transactions via the API?

It isn't possible to capture funds via the API today. The API is meant to Create, Read, Update, or Destroy entries and nothing is exposed to the API that would allow you to execute an action between BigCommerce's core application and the payment gateway .

Paypal API for recurring payment based on usage

I am currently upgrading an old system writing in JSF, which communicates with Paypal to create an "Acceptance term" for recurring payment, it generates a Token and when the client accepts the term, it creates an Agreement Id, later we use these to charge the client based on the services he used.
On the Paypal developer website, the Billing Agreement API is marked as deprecated, so I can´t work with it, they offer the Subscription as an alternative, but it doesn´t give the Agreement Id or the possibility to charge the user based on the usage, at least, not that I´ve seen.
Is there a way to create the Token and Agreement, or to use the Subscription (or other methods) to charge the user based on that?
eg. We offer a mobile plan for U$ 10, plus U$ 5 if the user sends more than 1000 messages, we first check if that happened, then we charge the user.
If the account is approved for reference transactions, and it sounds like it may be, you can use the Vault API which is in open beta, in conjunction with the orders API. See this example.

How To Know if a paypal transaction is succeed?

I am creating a website where user can buy digital stuff. Its not downloadable material or something like, just a sensitive data.
I used paypal payment button and integrated it to my website. I tested it using paypal sandbox. So, i would like to perform a certain action once the user purchase the item and roll back to the site. So please tell me how it is possible?
For any post-transaction processing you want to do you should use Instant Payment Notification (IPN).
Instant Payment Notification (IPN) is a message service that automatically notifies merchants of events related to PayPal transactions. Merchants can use it to automate back-office and administrative functions, like automatically fulfilling orders and providing customers with order status.
For PHP PayPal provides a basic IPN script to get you started. Alternatively, you could take a look at this IPN template solution I put together many years ago. It has an installer that sets up a MySQL database for you, and then it automatically saves all of the IPN into the database and emails you notifications. You could start with that and then easily customize it to suit your needs.

PayPal REST API Vault - Access existing cards not previously saved via Vault?

If an existing PayPal user has one or more credit cards saved in their PayPal account, and that user is new to my application, are those card details accessible via the Rest API Vault endpoint?
No. When you make a REST call, the end user will be providing you their card data directly. The credit cards in their PayPal account are backup funding sources. While it's possible you could get paid through them, there's no way for you to know because the payment will be shown as their PayPal account only.

Using Stripe Connect to facilitate transactions between users?

Specific requirements for my app:
buyers must be able to use credit card
i want to collect a portion of each transaction (fee)
I was initially using Dwolla but realized that users would not be able to pay with credit cards. Now I'm looking at Stripe and see that they have Stripe Connect.
Would Stripe Connect fit the bill? A post here says that SC "would require the [recipients] to have business licenses". Is this true?
Also, looking at the API, I don't see how to direct the received funds to a recipient account. It seems like all you can do is "charge" the card. This seems like it would just put all of the funds in my account. All I want is a portion (fee) and then have the rest somehow deposited in the recipient's account. Is this possible, and if so, how do I specifiy the recipient in the API call?
It's best to view Stripe Connect as OAuth. Merchants can connect their Stripe accounts with you, and you can authenticate to Stripe with their details, and make charges on their behalf. You can take a fee off the top using the 'application_fee' param.
As to your first question, all users would have to sign up to and abide by Stripe's terms. They don't necessarily need to be businesses though - they could be sole proprietors.
You can find more docs on Connect here. https://stripe.com/docs/connect

PayPal subscription vs recurring?

Can someone explain the difference between the two? From what I have read, subscription is the one where you grab the HTML button from PayPal, whereas recurring is done via the API.
Is that it or is there more to it?
If so, how do subscription customers cancel their subscription?
(And, why does PayPal make it so developers have to trawl forums for answers?!)
PayPal's different type of recurring transactions:
Subscription
A subscription is created via a Website Payments Standard Subscribe button.
Before 2009, the subscription profile ID started with S-XXXXXXXX. You are not able to manage these subscriptions via any API calls.
After 2009 the subscription profile ID starts with I-XXXXXX. You are able to cancel these subscriptions via the ManageRecurringPaymentsProfileStatus API call.
Recurring Payments Profile
A recurring payments profile is created through the CreateRecurringPaymentsProfile API, and is accessible for both Express Checkout users, as well as those using Direct Recurring Payments as part of their Website Payments Pro Product.
If you use CreateRecurringPaymentsProfile via Express Checkout, you'll need prior authorization from the buyer, typically obtained by passing BILLINGTYPE=RecurringPayments in your initial SetExpressCheckout API call.
If you're using Direct Recurring Payments, you'll be able to directly pass in the credit card details into the CreateRecurringPaymentsProfile API call.
Recurring Billing
Available for Payflow Pro / Website Payments Pro Payflow Edition customers. This works similar to Direct Recurring Payments, except it's done through the Payflow API.
--
In all cases, a 'profile' is created, and PayPal is the one doing the actual billing on the schedule that you provided. You don't need to make any further API calls for the subscription / recurring payments profile / recurring billing profile to be processed.
And one more thing that I noticed.
When we make an API call to get the Transaction-details for a recurring/subscription transaction, the subscriptions which have their Profile-ID's starting with 'S-' have their TRANSACTIONTYPE as 'subscr_payment' and the subscriptions with Profile-ID's starting with 'I-' have their TRANSACTIONTYPE as 'recurring_payment'
Don't know if I am completely right.
