is there any sample program using Kentor.AuthServices.MVC - asp.net-mvc-4

I am using mvc4 and I need SAML2.0 for the security. I tried some samples with Component Pro but we need to purchase it and it has good documentation also.
I came to know about Kentor.AuthServices.MVC which is an open source and may i know whether there is any learning site where I can implement with mvc4.

There is a working SampleMvcApplication included in the source on github.

Kimono Desktop Stopped Working?

Anyone having trouble building API's with the new Kimono Desktop app. When I click create API the browser just stays on create API screen loading but nothing happens.
I even tried building an API that is the same as one I built when Kimono was still in business and no luck.
My existing api's still run and pull data fine.
Working just fine here.
Just a shot in the blue...did you install the new extension specifically for the desktop app? The old one can't work anymore since Kimono disabled the online service.
You can't build new APIs I think - only existing ones. :( Said something like it was not the acquiring company's policy to provide this publiclu available service but since they did not know how many businesses depended on their APIs they decided to allow existing APis to run.
You can also use their software for replace the online API. But it's an abandonware.
It's working great but on some website I can create new API because of an error.
I just find a possible (free) product that can replace Kimono : Datascraping.co.
They will include an REST FULL API within few days / weeks, as they said here.
It's a good software, but comparing to Kimono Desktop it's a little much more complicated.
Kimono got bought out and it's not working anymore.
Import.io is good but it kinda expensive for me. I've tried the free trial before but see the price starts from $249, so... https://www.import.io/standard-plans/
I don't have any progamming skills so I know very little about some web scraping frameworks like Scrapy.
You may want to look at this new web scraping software called Octoparse.
In case you want to know, here is the link:http://www.octoparse.com/
It takes a little time to begin. But they have rich tutorials on the website. Plus it doesn't require programming skills.
They provide cloud-based scraping service and API access.
You can use it to create API but you have to pay for the service. Free version doesn't have the API and cloud service.
I've been using it for 2 month with the Standard plan $89, which a lot cheaper than import.io. So far so good.
Hope it would be helpful for you.

How to use biometric fingerprint reader to develop a fingerprint database

I have purchased a simple biometric fingerprint reader that is usually used for laptop security through a USB connection. It is just called biomentric finger print reader, not branded! It came with the software for creating security for laptop, and it works great.
However, I had a different idea for it: I am intending to create a database of users fingerprints so that I can identify which user swiped their fingers on it, ie, to use it for different users' authentication using fingerprints. I don't seem to be making any head or tail on how to go about that.
I would like to find out if there is other kind of software to install that will make this gadget print the fingerprint or a code to say a spreadsheet or database whenever I swipe a finger on it? I was thinking it would be a simple as when I use a bar code scanner to print codes of various items to a spreadsheet.
Could someone please advise how to go about this. I believe it should do that but I just dont know where to start.
thanks.
As an alternative wrapper to WinBioNET as mentioned by Robinicks there is WinBiometric.Net.
Disclaimer: I do not own this project.
It has a really nice test project for playing around with the different API functions available in the Windows Wiometric Framework. This test project was monumental in helping me understand the Windows Biometric Framework.
The WinBiometric.Net wrapper has a claim of 100% API coverage, a NuGet package and has the MIT license.
I found it to generally have a very high quality of code as well.
As for storing the fingerprints in a database you could use the WinBioCaptureSample API function to capture a sample, which can then be stored in a database.
The sample can be converted into an image as well, there is a nice example of this in the wrapper.
I know this is an old question but I figured I'd post anyway.
You can use the WBF (Windows biometric Framework) API that is free, but you must first verify if your biometric device is WBF compatible. The documentation and samples for WBF are for C++, but there is a wrapper sample in C# that you can download here: Cirrostrata biometrics Regarding how to convert the scanned data into an image, you can check this post: How to convert winbio data into image. Hope this helps to start.
You can use the WinBioNET .NET wrapper for Windows Biometric Framework (WBF). It has a demo winforms app in the solution. Just open it up, select the demo app as the "startup project" and run. If you have any devices connected it will enumerate it at startup.

GCMRegistrar vs GoogleCloudMessaging which to use?

Another one of my stupid questions probably.
I am confused on which to use GCMRegistrar or GoogleCloudMessaging, i know that GCMRegistrar is deprecated and i want to use GoogleCloudMessaging API but the problem is i can't find the jar files for it. so if you could help me by giving me jar file for the new GoogleCloudMessaging API it would help me a lot.
Thanks in advance!!!
That's because GCM before was a library, now it's part of the Google Play Services. So to use it you will need to follow this tutorial and download and include the Google Play services on your project using this page
You are welcome :)
Yes gcm.jar is deprecated. But I didn't find good explanation "why"! GCMRegistrar was good helper class. When you look at its sources you'll find that it's almost the same as example code of (now preferred) GoogleCloudMessaging API. So Google wants everyone to write (or copy) again and again the same code into all projects using GCM? Or shall every developer create his/her own helper class, a GCMRegistrar alike?
On the other hand when I use Google Play Services library, I use a library with a lot of ballast I don't need, I need just GCM, I'm not interested in other services.
Why don't they create a library for each service? GCM, Maps, Ads, Wallet, ... so every developer can include only what he needs.
Google's approach is far from optimization. I want to create as small and fast apps as possible. Google obviously doesn't. :-(
gcm.jar is deprecated.
Use GoogleCloudMessaging. comes with GooglePlayServices Library.
SDK Manager > Extras > Google Play Services.
then import google play services library PROJECT : Right Click > Properties >Android > Add...
and the project is in C:...\sdk\extras\google\google_play_services\libproject\google-play-services_lib
UNCHECK "Is Library"

REST API for Whiskerboard

I need some help with implementing a status board with a REST API. I've already found the two best options (in my opinion): Stashboard and Whiskerboard.
I have already tried Whiskerboard and I find it easy to install and deploy because it does not need Google App Engine's SDK to be used locally. However, I need something like Stashboard's REST API: http://readthedocs.org/docs/stashboard/en/latest/restapi.html
I know that Whiskerboard is based on Stashboard so probably they have the same REST API. But I cannot seem to find any documentation on Whiskerboard's REST API. Moreover, I looked into each status board's models and there are lots of differences, with Whiskerboard's being largely simpler compared with that of Stashboard's, so they must not have the same REST API.
I will appreciate it if anyone can provide me a link to Whiskerboard's REST API which should be much like Stashboard's. If there really is none, some other solutions could still be suggested. Thank you in advance!
No, it doesn't have the same REST API. You could find this out by reading the code. If you want a similar REST API you have the following options:
Code the feature yourself.
Ask the developer of Whiskerboard for the feature.
Ask someone else at your organization to code and contribute the feature.
Good luck.
You can check out this solution forked by sijis and myself, jvasallo, that we have been working on. He forked the repo for whiskerboard and added an API to it. Still uses Django, and recently I did some work porting it to 1.5.1. Initially, Whiskerboard is a 1.3 Django app.

Can you run your own reCaptcha service, in your own web app?

Is the backend used by reCaptcha open source? Is it a simple web app that can be deployed in a given container?
Thanks,
LES
It's a web service. It is supplied by a third party.
You can integrate it into your application, but as far as the source code goes, no. Its value is not in the source code but in the images that are supplied. They're not randomly generated but come from books from those parts an OCR system failed to process. So by solving reCaptcha people are actually helping scan books. Somebody takes care of the scanning process and supplied a constant flow of new challenges. Hard to beat.
Running reCaptcha on your own server would be very cumbersome, as it requires a constant supply of image data (scanned books) to work. Also it would kind of beat a part of the purpose, that is digitizing books for the common good. Besides, I don't think it's even available.
This should be able to answer all of your questions for you: recaptcha
