I have been encountering all sort of problems to istall the SQL Server 2019 Express as well as SSMS v. 18.9. I wanted to move from SSQLSERVER 2014 and SSMS 2014 to 2019 version in order to attend a course on T-SQL using the latest version of the software.
After unstalling 2014 Server and Management studio files, I have been unable to install the 2019 version, either the Basic installation (the error says that "there has been an error when checking the installation rules for SQL Server"), or by downloading the resources (in this case, when I click on the setup.exe file a error dialog window appears with a red X saying "SQL Server setup").
Any tips, please?

whenever I open SQL Server Management Studio. I already tried to uninstall and reinstall SSMS Tool Pack, but the error is not resolved.

I'm trying to install SQL Server 2016 Basic on windows 8.1 but it keeps giving me this error.
Did it two times and every time the installation stops at the installer file "SQLServer2016SP1-FullSlipstream-x64-ENY.box" so i don't think this is a network error.
any idea what could be the problem?
NOTE: I used to have SQL Server 2012 installed but i uninstalled it completely before installing the SQL Server 2016

Is there any way of installing Microsoft SQL Server 2000 on Windows Server 2008 (x64) server? I need to install but error throws "Microsoft Sql server 2000 does not compatible with current operating system." Currently i have SQL Server 2000 x86.
How can i install please let me know.

I tried that before, even if you change the settings to "Run with compatibly with OS" you will be prompted with several errors when the installation is completed.
The next closest version is MS SQL 2008. you can try the express pack first if you're concerned about compatibility issues.
