I've created a VB.Net exe which pulls information from my teams SVN Repository in order to post that information on a channel on our slack page. I've named the exe post-commit.exe and placed it in the hooks folder within our SVN repository (which is contained within a sever that we access through a mapped network drive) in place of the post-commit.tmpl file. When I commit to our repository via TortoiseSvn I end up getting a message stating "Failed to Start 'Path of post commit exe' hook".
Now if I go into the folder and run the exe manually it runs as epxected. I've done a test for this on my local documents folder by creating a completely new repository and it managed to run the post-commit exe on the commit. Does anyone know why the post-commit is not running? Is it permission related as I've attempted to give the exe permissions for all ussers to read and execute the exe.

My SSIS package creates xls files to a folder. When I execute the project in my local machine that works fine. When I execute the job it creates a file that doesn't exist.
What could be the problem?

That means the file does not exist or you do not have permissions to access the file, but when I execute it from my machine the project doesn't create that file.
Most likely the account running your job does not have rights to that folder.
I created an application that is installed from the setup file which installs all the files required by the program. When I update the application, I can only share the exe files of the update application to the user and not the entire installation package/setup file(not possible due to constraints)(Reason: so that he can run the application with out me having to make a new installation package/setup file and user having to install from the setup file) I am unsuccessful in my attempts so far. Can any one suggest if this is possible or if I am doing something wrong?
P.S : I have added the manifest file with privilege of always working as an administrator with out which I am unable to run my base application ( Error : Access to the path c:/xxxx/Tnsnames.ora denied)
Manifest file is the answer.
Manifest file is a file in VB project which contains the information
about the contents of file distribution. It may contain checksum or
hash to verify that file is original and isn't modified in any way.
Modifying a file will change its checksum value.
You need to replace asInvoker with requireAdministrator or highestAvailable

I am trying to install Yii framework via archive file in Windows 7...after downloading the file I tried extracting it into a folder in my C:\wamp\www\bid location, however, I encounter an error saying this:

I thought that perhaps Winrar can't extract tgz files so I downloaded 7-zip...Using 7-zip it extracted into a tar file and the tar file was extracted with no errors...For some reason though I do not seem to have the framework folder that seem to be in other people's directory structure...Moreover after trying create my own framework folder and performing this command:
yiic webapp C:\wamp\www\bid
It states that yiic is not recognized as an internal or external command
Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong...I've tried setting this up numerous times and failed
You need to run 7-Zip File Manager in administrator mode.
Right-click the icon of 7-Zip File Manager, and then click "Run as administrator".
you need to call the command with php since it is actually a external command, i do it like this
php ./yiic webapp NameOfApp
This way your terminal understand that yii is a program that runs with php.

I am new to source control and I am confused with something I read on a webpage yesterday (I don't have the link). I have followed these instructions: "create folder structure", then "Start Reprobrowser", then copy source files into trunk folder. Please see the screen shot below:
However, when I navigate to the folder using Windows Explorer I do not see this folder structure. I see this:
Therefore I am wandering: where are the files physically stored? The reason I ask is because I want to ensure that NetBackup (corporate backup tool) backs up the correct directories.
To make sense of the repository structure you need to read all the documentation on SVN, but the preferred way to backup a SVN repository is through the command
svnadmin dump your_svn_repository_path > destination_filename_backup.svn
You could put this command in a scheduled task running sometime before your corporate tool execute the full backup of your data and include the destination_filename_backup.svn in your backup job
If you ever need to restore the backup (after recreating the repository) you could use the command
svnadmin load your_svn_repository_path < destination_filename_backup.svn
I am in the process of creating an application to allow the automation of application deployments, (https://github.com/twistedtwig/AutomdatedDeployments#readme).
The idea being that everything is in source control, application files, application configuration as well as IIS configuration. My application allows the solution to auto deploy, (adding a post build setp to the sln / proj file), after a build to the dev machine. It will allow the CI server to auto deploy to its machine for testing as well as the CI Server pushing successful builds to QA / Test / production servers. One of the issues I have with msdeploy is the requirement of IIS to be setup with the website / application before hand, (which my app is trying to get around).
So far I can create, update and remove, app pools, websites and applications via config files automatically. I can sync files and folders fine. The last step was to use the /target:package switch in msbuild to create clean file structures for web deployments. For example I would run a command like:
msbuild.exe myMvcSite.csproj /target:clean /target:package /p:Configuration=Release /p:_PackageTempDir=C:\websites\mySite /p:PackageLocation=C:\dropLocation\mySite.zip
This creates a nice zip file with the internal file path of "C_C\wbesites\mySite" ready (as I understand it) to be sync'd to the production server.
My issue is how I deploy this zip file. I want it to be independent of any IIS information, i.e. I am simply pushing the files / folders to a location, (either on the local machine for developers, or remote for testing etc). The setup of IIS with app pools and sites etc would be taken care of separately. Some of the commands (and their output) I have tried are below:

The first command I am trying to let it unpack the files with the structure it has. It seems to be upset about app pool stuff though, (which I don't want it to touch).
The second I am trying to get around the "auto" bit but this isn't happy either.
I am struggling to find much information about this process.
The only way I can see how I might achieve this at the moment is to not use msdeploy for it, but to create my own task to integrate the file structure and do the file syncing my self, (not ideal).
I ended up coding around this issue, rather than being able to solve it.
I take the zip package:
unzip in a temp location
find the final path it will be going to (normally from archive.xml)
check to see if I am merging the folders or doing a clean install, (i.e. do I delete the destination folder first).
copy / push files to end location, (normally with msdeploy).
