Jackson + ProGuard: can't deserialize class that uses custom deserializer - jackson

My app uses Jackson. I got minimized builds mostly working with this configuration:
# don't obfuscate Jackson classes
-keep class com.fasterxml.** { *; }
# don't strip runtime annotations
-keepattributes RuntimeVisibleAnnotations
# keep members with Jackson annotations
-keepclassmembers public class * {
#com.fasterxml.jackson.annotation.JsonCreator *;
#com.fasterxml.jackson.annotation.JsonProperty *;
}
But minimized builds are still unable to deserialize one class that uses a custom deserializer, which in turn uses a factory. The factory, deserializer, and mapper are all produced by Dagger2. The error is:
com.fasterxml.jackson.databind.JsonMappingException: No suitable constructor found for type [simple type, class com.mycompany.myapp.c.y]: can not instantiate from JSON object (missing default constructor or creator, or perhaps need to add/enable type information?)

The error message suggests that my class lacks a default constructor, which indeed it does because instances are created by the custom deserializer using the factory. This works fine when I disable ProGuard. What do I need to do to make it work with ProGuard?

I accidentally discovered this handy troubleshooting technique:
-keepnames class * { *; }
This revealed the true culprit to be a private static nested class inside my custom deserializer. The solution was to remove public from the class specifier on this option:
-keepclassmembers class * {
#com.fasterxml.jackson.annotation.JsonCreator *;
#com.fasterxml.jackson.annotation.JsonProperty *;
}

How to attach bytebuddy agent when target application load classes from uRLConnection.getInputStream

I made a java agent with bytebuddy. It works well untill target application load classes form uRLConnection.getInputStream. The target app works well without attachment the agent, but shows exception [java.lang.ClassNotFoundException] when the agent attached.
this is app's classloading line.
return this.getClass().getClassLoader().loadClass(string) //string points the name of a byte array.
In the application, the classes is provided in the form of byte array from the uRLConnection.getInputStream at runtime and the application loads those at runtime.
The eclipst stacktrace:

My agent is:
try {
new AgentBuilder.Default()
.with(new AgentBuilder.InitializationStrategy.SelfInjection.Eager())
.with(AgentBuilder.Listener.StreamWriting.toSystemError())
.type((ElementMatchers.any()))
.transform((builder, typeDescription, classLoader, module) -> builder
.method(ElementMatchers.any())
.intercept(Advice.to(MyAdviser.class))
).installOn(instrumentation);
} catch (Exception e) {
return;
}
I also tried
.transform(new AgentBuilder.Transformer.ForAdvice()
.include(MyAdviser.class.getClassLoader())
.advice(ElementMatchers.any(), MyAdviser.class.getName()))
But it doesn't seem to be attached.
I think your problem might be something else here. Try the second form of advice which avoids class loading where a class loading of a system class in an too ealry stage is probably is your problem in the application of loaded advice. Set an .ignore(none()) matcher for the instrumentation to make the second approach work as boot strap classes like URLConnection are not by instrumented by Byte Buddy in the default configuration.

Weld encounters NoClassDefFoundError while loading custom context class

I am writing a CDI custom scope that is added via an extension:
public class SliceScopeExtension
implements Extension, Serializable {
public void addScope(#Observes final BeforeBeanDiscovery event) {
event.addScope(SliceScoped.class, true, true);
}
public void registerContext(#Observes final AfterBeanDiscovery event) {
event.addContext(new SliceScopeContext());
}
}
The corresponding context class uses a custom bean store implementation that is derived from org.jboss.weld.context.beanstore.AttributeBeanStore:
public class SliceScopeContext implements Context, Serializable {
private static final Logger log = Logger.getLogger(SliceScopeContext.class.getName());
private final ThreadLocal<HttpServletRequest> request;
private final ThreadLocal<SliceScopeBeanStore> beanStore;
public SliceScopeContext() {
this.request = new ThreadLocal<>();
this.beanStore = new ThreadLocal<>();
}
...
}
If I now deploy this web application glassfish/weld are throwing a org.jboss.weld.resources.spi.ResourceLoadingException with a nested NoClassDefFoundError saying that the class org/jboss/weld/context/beanstore/AttributeBeanStore could not be found. If I use the NamingScheme interface or SimpleNamingScheme the error is thrown for these class names:

I verified if these classes are present in the weld-osgi-bundle.jar inside the glassfish modules directory and they are. This SO post I have checked and my project does not include any library that already contains these WELD classes.
What's going or what am I doing wrong here?
Opening weld-osgi-bundle.jar you can see that in META-INF/MANIFEST.MF file, the Export-Package section doesn't mention org.jboss.weld.context.beanstore; package, so it is private to weld.
You probably have to create your own context by copying this weld code or by using Apache Deltaspike and the tools in org.apache.deltaspike.core.util.context to create a portable context across Weld and OpenWebBeans.
The last (dirty) solution would be to modify the MANIFEST.MF file in weld-osgi-bundle.jar

beans.xml file and java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: JBAS011859: Naming context is read-only

I have very strange exception after starting using beans.xml file in our EJB and jar files.
We use JBoss7.1.1 release.
Our application is packaged as ear file.
It was deployed and works correctly earlier.
There is some Module1 EJB component. Now we use #Inject annotation for some beans in Module1 and therefore added META-INF/beans.xml.
Another EJB component Module2 uses EJB from Module1 like:
#EJB
private IOmistajaFinderLocal omistajaFinder;
But now application cannot be deployed on JBoss. There following exception:

Both Module1 and Module2 are included in application.xml file and generated ear file.
Deleting beans.xml resolves the deploying process but in this case we can not use #Injection annotation.
What is the problem and how can I resolve it? Thank you.
This is a known issue when using jersey. Try to add below option to your jvm, which will fix your issue. If you are running the jboss server from eclipse then add to the server runtime configuration. If you are starting the jboss from command prompt using standalone.bat then add the below option to standalone.conf.bat. Similarly if you are using *Nix then add to standalone.conf.
set "JAVA_OPTS=%JAVA_OPTS% -Dcom.sun.jersey.server.impl.cdi.lookupExtensionInBeanManager=true"
For use in eclipse (run and debug), open server properties, launch configuration properties and set the VM arguments:
-Dcom.sun.jersey.server.impl.cdi.lookupExtensionInBeanManager=true
I am able to manage this. Add a patch in naming jar. Just change org.jboss.as.naming.service.NamingStoreService -> readOnly = true
Full java class -
public class NamingStoreService implements Service<ServiceBasedNamingStore> {
private final boolean readOnly = false;
private volatile ServiceBasedNamingStore store;
public NamingStoreService() {
this(false);
System.out.println("Setting readOnly "+readOnly);
}
public NamingStoreService(boolean readOnly) {
System.out.println("Setting readOnly "+readOnly);
}
/**
* Creates the naming store if not provided by the constructor.
*
* #param context The start context
* #throws StartException If any problems occur creating the context
*/
public void start(final StartContext context) throws StartException {
if(store == null) {
final ServiceRegistry serviceRegistry = context.getController().getServiceContainer();
final ServiceName serviceNameBase = context.getController().getName();
final ServiceTarget serviceTarget = context.getChildTarget();
store = readOnly ? new ServiceBasedNamingStore(serviceRegistry, serviceNameBase) : new WritableServiceBasedNamingStore(serviceRegistry, serviceNameBase, serviceTarget);
}
}
/**
* Destroys the naming store.
*
* #param context The stop context
*/
public void stop(StopContext context) {
if(store != null) {
try {
store.close();
store = null;
} catch (NamingException e) {
throw MESSAGES.failedToDestroyRootContext(e);
}
}
}
/**
* Get the context value.
*
* #return The naming store
* #throws IllegalStateException
*/
public ServiceBasedNamingStore getValue() throws IllegalStateException {
return store;
}
}

the config of proguard is:
-dontnote

-keepdirectories
# The main entry points.
-keep public class gr.analysis.synchronizer.ApplicationSupport {
public static void main(java.lang.String[]);
}
-keep class gr.analysis.synchronizer.**{*; }
The problem is proguard + java reflection, e.g. Class.forName("com.example.class").getInstance().

Object in mule's registry cannot be cast to org.mule.construct.AbstractFlowConstruct on application startup

I'm trying to store instance of some class in mule registry on flow application startup. Below you can see my java code and flow fragment. My problem is that sometimes application deployment fails with following error:
Caused by: java.lang.ClassCastException: com.company.test.sorter.model.Config cannot be cast to org.mule.construct.AbstractFlowConstruct
at org.mule.module.management.mbean.FlowConstructService.postRegister(FlowConstructService.java:139)
at org.mule.module.management.agent.ClassloaderSwitchingMBeanWrapper.postRegister(ClassloaderSwitchingMBeanWrapper.java:101)
You can find whole stacktrace below. I must repeat: this exception is raised only sometimes, approximately every fifth deployment of unchanged application. In most cases application runs perfectly fine. I googled for this exceptions and classes but I didn't find any solution. I am using Mule 3.2.1 (standalone). Is it a bug or am I doing something wrong?
#XmlRootElement(name = "config")
public class Config {
private String x2Regex;
private String x3Regex;

if (notification.getAction() == MuleContextNotification.CONTEXT_STARTED) {

notification.getMuleContext().getRegistry().registerObject("config", new Config());
} catch (RegistrationException e) {

}
}
}

Feels like a bug: after reading the source code, I find no reasonable explanation to why Mule would try to register your custom object in JMX while mistaking it for a Flow!
As a side note, why using a notification listener and the Mule registry when you can just build your object with Spring?
