I'm trying to use the GROUP_CONCAT() UDF in a Netezza query but I have no idea how to install the function into my database! I've downloaded the c++ code and there's an installer in the folder but I don't know how to run that!
I've been googling it for about a day now with no luck. I'm using a Windows computer and am running Netezza through Aginity.
Would anyone be able to help me out?

UDFs are installed through a command line interface on the Netezza host, and not through SQL. You will need to sftp the source code to the host, connect with an SSH tool (e.g. putty or the Aginity SSH client under Tools->SSH Terminal), and run the install script from there. Your database login will not work for logging into the host. You may have to work with your administrator to get access.
Here is an exmaple of innstalling the c++ version of GROUP_CONCAT into a database called TESTDB.

I'd need to create a sh script, which will connect to Oracle DB and then execute a SQL file.
The problem is that sqlplus is not installed on that Cent-OS machine and most probably it won't be installed either.
Is there a way how to do this?
You can easily install Oracle Instant Client including sqlplus executable ("Free to download, deploy and distribute").

If some java version is installed on the server, you can create a simple class that will connect to oracle DB via JDBC, load the sql script and execute it.

Execute the java program
You can’t. You need to install oracle client which include sqlplus or sqlloader.
Or you can use Python and library Cx_Oracle, but you still need sqlclient to connect to database.
If you don’t want to install oracle client, you can use external table to load data to database or some etl tool.
I have a .sql dump file 20 gb and I am trying to run it on Mysql workbench using run script and after successful execution, using SSMA I'll migrate the data from Mysql workbench to SQL Server. I have migrated the data this way many times successfully however for 20 gb file it seems very time-consuming. Please let me know if there is any alternate way to achieve this quickly. From your Title "unable to run .sql file in SSMS" and "I have a .sql dump file 20 gb" are you trying to open a 20GB .sql in SSMS? That's never going to work. SSMS is a 32bit application, so the maximum addressable memory is 2GB. If you want to run your .sql file, I suggest using sqlcmd.
Open up Powershell, and then run the command below replacing the appropriate parts:
sqlcmd -S {Server Name/ServerIP} -U {Your Login} -i {Your full path to your script}
You'll be prompted for your password and then you the file will be run. So, as an example, you might run:
sqlcmd -S svSQL2017 -U Larnu -i \\svFileServer\SQLShare\Scripts\BigBatchFile.sql
If you are using integrated security, then don't pass the -U parameter for the command.
Edit: This answer is no relevant to the OPs question, as they were using "SSMS" as a synonym for SQL Server, which it is not. I have left this here for the moment so the OP can review my comments, and I will likely remove this answer at a later point.
I am trying to connect to an Vertica DB from R using "RODBC" package. Also, the machine I am using is an remote server which doesn't have direct internet access so I basically "transfer" all source files from my local to the remote server to build the system. So, in order to give you an clear context, I am listing all my steps in attending of installing "RODBC" package below:
Step1 - I downloaded the RODBC_1.3-13.tar.gz source file for RODBC and then tried to directly install it with "R CMD INSTALL". However, I encountered error as "ODBC headers sql.h and sqlext.h not found".
Step2 - After a few researches, I found that the installation of "unixodbc-dev" would potentially solve this issue. Therefore, I downloaded all needed dependencies for "unixodbc-dev" and transferred them to the server. As you can see the list:

However, another error message appears when I tried to re-install the "RODBC" using "sudo R CMD INSTALL /home/mli/RODBC_1.3-13.tar.gz" in which it returns error "no ODBC driver manager found":
As the message indicates, the installation program can't locate my ODBC driver manager. So, I downloaded "vertica-client-7.2.3-0.x86_64.tar.gz" and unzipped it on the server:
So, now my question is how can I customize the "R CMD INSTALL" command say, using some parameter handles to direct the installation program to locate the driver manager? Or am I trying this in a right direction? Please let me know. Any help would be really appreciated!!! :)

I have also tried it with JDBC in which the I successfully loaded the "RJDBC" package in R and used the JDBC driver from vertica-client-7.2.3-0.x86_64.tar.gz. Also, I have already had "rJava" installed. However, I have still got an error when I tried to make the connection. I am listing my result below:
I successfully installed the "RJDBC" with "$R CMD INSTALL RJDBC_0.2-5.tar.gz --library=/usr/local/lib/R/site-library/" and then I tried the following scripts in R. All the lines are successfully executed except on the line 16:
Based on the error message, I assumed the version of the JDBC driver that I was using is too new for the Vertica server. So, I was trying to use an older version JDBC driver instead, like the "vertica-jdk5-6.1.0-0.jar" which I have downloaded from this link:http://www.java2s.com/Code/Jar/v/Downloadverticajdk56100jar.htm
So, I moved the file "vertica-jdk5-6.1.0-0.jar" to my home directory on the server and then changed the JDBC driver path in the R script:
As you can see, it still returns error "FATAL: Unsupported frontend protocol 3.6: server supports 3.0 to 3.5". Am I doing it right? Or is there an issue with the new driver that I downloaded? How can make it works? Please, any help will be really appreciated! Thanks!!!
A few things:
First, just do sudo apt-get install r-cran-rodbc. The package was created (by yours truly) in no small part because dealing with unixODBC or iODBC is not fun. But even once you have that, you still need the ODBC driver for Linux from Vertica. And that part is filly.
Second, I just did something similar the other day but just used JDBC, which worked. You do of course need sudo apt-get install r-cran-rjava which has its own can of worms (but I already mentioned Java...) Still, maybe try that instead?
Third, you can cheat and just use psql pointed to the Vertica port (usually one above the PostgreSQL port).
I have created a sql query that updates certain tables taking a CSV file as the input.
I want my co-workers to be able to execute this query as easily as possible. At first, I thought a batch file using sqlcmd was the best solution.
The end product works on my computer, because I have SSMS installed, but no other computer is able to properly launch the batch file.
What is the best way for my end-users to run an sql query? I have thought/researched these solutions:
-Install SSMS or the required tools(don't want each user to have to do this.)
-Install Psexec tools to allow for remote batch launching (also don't like this.)
Is there a better way?

Why don't you create a C-Sharp or VB.Net program that executes the proc and distribute the program to your users?
You don't have to install all of SMS. You can just install SQLServer2008CmdLnUtilsx86.msi for SQL 2008 or go here to get SQLCMD for SQL 2012. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36433. Just be aware that if you install SQLCMD in a bat file and then attempt to use SQLCMD after installing it in that same bat file you have to specify full path to SQLCMD because PATH value is loaded at time bat was started and SQLCMD was not yet available at that time.
I am new to WinSCP and am attempting to create a script file that will eventually be used with SSIS to download files from an SFTP site. A lot of the literature WinSCP includes explains the file downloading or uploading portions. For the time being, I just want to create a script to test the connection first and will build from there.
So far I saved the connection in WinSCP and have the following. The below code does not seem to function at all and I am not sure where else to go as I am still reading about the scripting for WinSCP. Is there a way or can someone point me in a direction to see if I am in fact connecting via through the script?

Not sure what SSIS is (sorry) but I can tell you how I'd set it up from a windows batch file if that helps:
If you are open to using a different software, consider using cygwin. It mimics a linux shell so linux users on windows have a lot of linux utilities handy. That being said, there are some commands which can run on windows straight from command prompt (and thus batchable). What you'd need to do:
1) install cygwin
2) Create a "passwordless" login (using ssh-rsa authentication). To do this start your cygwin terminal and use the commands "ssh-keygen" and "ssh-copy-id" (more on that later)
3) Now you can run "sftp" from the DOS command prompt (does not require cygwin terminal) and sftp to your account. No password required because of step 2).

If you go to the "bin" directory of cygwin (for me it's in c:\cygwin\bin) you can see all the cygwin utilities. Anything with "exe" extension can be run from dos command prompt. If no "exe" extension, must start cygwin terminal first

You can pretty much google "ssh login without password" and pull up a lot of results. This is common for setting up login from one linux system to another. You would be using the same steps using cygwin on windows. My instructions are here:

Storing session settings in WinSCP GUI and trying to access them from WinSCP script running in SSIS is generally a bad idea. I believe there's no example or guide on WinSCP site that would suggest doing that.
WinSCP stores its configuration in registry in HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive. The SSIS typically runs under a dedicated system account, that have its own HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive, and won't see the GUI configuration.

The best you can do is isolate your your script from configuration by using the session URL with the open command, instead of the stored site name.
