How can i automatically reload karma-html-reporter - testing

I just started testing with Karma. When i specify a browser in the config-file it basically just opens a window that tells me that the test is idle or running, nothing more and nothing less. That doesn't make sense to me, why would i need a browser for that? Okay i get it you need to debug but thats another page where you can debug isn't it?
Although this site is reloading when Karma is doing something, the other , way more usefull, karma-html-reporter output stays like it is until i reload it manually.
Is there any way to either
(A) Show the test ouput in a html-reporter like fashion on the connected-page?
or
(B) Connect the html-reporter-page to the socket and live-reload it?
I know i can just use the console, but isn't it nice to have some order and styling in all the chaos?

When invoking js.exec in Geb/Spock, the exec method is flagged as 'null'

I am creating a suite of tests (using Geb/Spock) for a web site. In one of them, the element I want to access is on the top of the page, so, to make sure that is visible, I want to scroll to the top of the page.
The command I am using is:
browser.js.exec('window.scrollTo(0, 0);')
or variations of it like
js.exec('window.scrollTo(0, 0);')
or other alternative like:
js.exec('window.scrollBy(0, -250);')
None of them makes the page scroll up, and when executing I get the following error (it is the only error, no other feedback). The error message using the other options listed above is identical (other than the command itself):
Condition not satisfied:
browser.js.exec('window.scrollTo(0, 0);')
| | |
| | null
| geb.js.JavascriptInterface#4019094f
geb.Browser#3dcac33e
at UserCreatesCompany.Go to Home Page and click on the log to
GitHub button as user User1(UserCreatesCompany.groovy:170)
I can not interpret the message that 'exec' is null. What exactly it means?
To make things more interesting, at the end of this script I am running the following cleanup procedure
js.exec('window.scrollTo(0, document.body.scrollHeight);')
DeleteButton.click()
$("button",'data-automation-id':"button-modal-yes").click()
}
and that works well: the page scrolls down. So, does not seem a problem about some missing library.
Any suggestion of what I may be doing wrong?
The version of the different components I am using is:
groovyVersion = '2.5.4'
gebVersion = '2.3'
seleniumVersion = '3.141.59'
chromeDriverVersion = '2.45'
First of all, you should not need to ever manually scroll the page to make elements visible - Selenium WebDriver which is underpinning Geb will do that for you automatically as soon as you start interacting (clicking, setting value, etc) with content.
Secondly, the failure you are getting is a failed assertion coming from a statement in an automatically asserted (then: or expect:) Spock block. It feels to me that you don't understand a concept which is core to Spock and therefore you should read about it in the manual first. It should make the failure you're getting clearer.
Thanks for the answer. Clearly: I was not fully aware of the different constrains the different blocks impose on what is executable or not. The manual is pretty clear once you have stumbled!
I am intrigued by your first assertion pointing that Selenium WebDriver will move to the element as soon as I interact with it. That was my understanding but it was not working. I made sure the element in question had a unique identifier, but still, it was not able to found it if the element had to be found by scrolling up. On the other hand it worked smoothly when locating the element WebDriver scrolled the page down.
Thanks again for the explanation. I have learn something new today!

Odoo 9 - cannot load custom module

I am brand new to odoo, just installed version 9 and made a module 'aidentest' using
.>>python odoo.py scaffold aidentest addons
That created the aidentest module in the addons folder. Uncommented everything in the autogenerated files
but when I went to check out my 'Hello World' page at
http://localhost:8069/aidentest/aidentest
I got a 404 not found
So I went to apps to try and load my module, but I could not find it.
Does anyone know what I need to do on Odoo 9 to load up and start coding my custom module?
Briefly: You have to activate developer mode by going to Top right menu>about>activate developer mode
I had basically given up, and was mindlessly clicking about when I hit the 'About' link on the generic-whiteguy dropdown. I had to actually stop thinking before I was able to locate the completely senseless place where they put the thing I need.
The About modal window popped up, and in it was an activate the developer mode button
Some things changed immediately, but I still couldn't find my custom module.
Then I walked away, came back and when I returned I had some auto-generated emails (new things had loaded - slowly). Did this mean that maybe my module had also become accessible? I checked, and sure enough, there it was.
ZERO DOCUMENTATION about this
Please check the config file.Then send the last error it has.

Using MXUnit or is there another way to display coldfusion output using Intellij IDEA 15

I'm loving IntelliJ because I also work with MySQL and the integration into one UI is great. Seems that IntelliJ works nicely with ColdFusion as well. I'm just hoping to successfully use MXUnit, but I seem to be getting an error upon testing. My main goal is just being able to display the output directly in IntelliJ instead of outputting in a browser.
My test site path: /Applications/ColdFusion11/cfusion/wwwroot/Test/test.cfc
Error http://localhost/mxunit-launcher.cfc?method=executeTestCase&componentName=test
Seems like I have to add in a mapping, maybe in CF Admin, because the path and web path don't match but I haven't done that before if that's the case. Here's a screenshot of input in IntelliJ, and the output at the bottom of the screenshot when running the debugger:
Thanks for any feedback on what I might be missing.

CAsyncSocketEx + console application ?

I have console applicaiotn that currently uses CAsyncSocket.
I need to implement SSL so after some searching I found this project: http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/3915/CAsyncSslSocketLayer-SSL-layer-class-for-CAsyncSoc
For some reason same simple code that works fine on GUI code does not work in console app.
Has anyone exp. with CAsyncSslSocketLayer ?
Thanks.
CAsyncSocketEx uses a window as a sort of cheap thread to handle the event notifications that come from select(). Unfortunately, if you don't have a message loop, then the window which it creates will not receive these events.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/90975
This article explains that a call to CreateWindow() needs to be called from a thread which has a message loop. And if you don't, then anything sent via PostMessage() won't get there.
I've recently started to tinker with this -- I want to remove the annoying hidden window and replace it with a normal thread. Their code relies on WSAAsyncSelect() in order to receive socket events... to a window. Yuk!
It's been a while since I had the same problem, but if I remember correctly, to use CAsyncSocket in a console app you need to add something like DECLARE_CONSOLEAPP (first two links shown below) to your console app. This should give your console a message pump to generate the socket notifications (OnReceive, etc.) GUI apps have these pumps but console apps don't, generally. The third (msdn) link below might also apply, it has more info and a different way.
If these still don't work, you should put breakpoints in your socket code and make sure your socket isn't instantiated in a thread or callback other than the main console app (the one that now has the message pump).
I think googling around for 'CAsyncSocket WinApp' or 'CAsyncSocket console app' would show more.

Selenium: intermittent "element not found" issues

Every now and then my selenium tests randomly fail with an "element X not found" error message. I do a simple select by ID, eg.
click('sideBar_queryButton')
When I use the dom inspector, the element is there, so I wonder why selenium doesn't find it sometimes. When I run the same test again, it works or it breaks again, there seems to be no reliable way of reproducing it. Even tests which are there for ages seem to randomly break and then magically work again. Inserting a few sleep statements sometimes helps but not reliably. So I wonder if I'm using it incorrectly. Has anyone else had these problems with selenium and if so, how did you fix them?
Edit: I found it to be much more reliable to put some test markers in my pages and wait for them to appear. If you use asynchronous operations which might create race conditions in your tests, inserting a test marker into your html after you finish the operation worked pretty well for me. E.g.
$('<div>').addClass("testMarker").append("OpXYZFinished").appendTo($('#content'));
That way, you can do a simple "waitForTextPresent" to see if things worked out and its much more reliable than guessing the browser's loading state. The testmarker class needs to be formatted in a way that it is not visible to the user (e.g. font color == background color).
Thanks for all your comments. After some deeper digging on the net and
in our tests I finally found combining these statements instead of a
simple waitForPageToLoad to be the cure for our issues:
waitForPageToLoad('')
// wait until all ajax activity has ceased. That check's jQuery's $.active
waitForCondition('selenium.browserbot.getUserWindow().$.active == 0', 5000)
// wait a second for all JS to properly initialize
pause(1000)
There is still a pause in there which is somewhat ugly, but it does
the trick.
