I have 1 big table with 12 columns , 4 of this columns have fields such as : VersionID , StatusID,Owner ID etc..
I have 3 small tables for Version,Status,etc...this table contain information such as : "VersionID "1 = Active" ; VersionID 2 = Disabled...etc" the same goes for StatusID and OwnerID .
I created a Query which displays Information from the ,,Big Table" and the information that is contained in the VersionID , StatusID etc. should be displayed from the smaller tables , for example : If In the big table the VersionID displayed is "1" i want it to show the definition ..in this case "Active".
I managed to do this by using the following code:
SELECT
Object.Type, Object.ID, Object.Key, Object.IsInactive,
Version.Version AS VersionID,
Status.StatusText AS StatusID,
ObjectDetail.BalancePosition, ObjectDetail.FrequencyID,
ObjectDetail.FrequencyTimeLagID, ObjectDetail.ObjectName,
ObjectDetail.Description, ObjectDetail.ValueSpecification,
ObjectDetail.Computation, ObjectDetail.StorageSystemID,
ObjectDetail.StorageSystemField, ObjectDetail.TableFunctionalDatamodel,
ObjectDetail.OwnerID
FROM
Version
INNER JOIN
(
[Object]
INNER JOIN
(
ObjectDetail
LEFT JOIN
Status
ON ObjectDetail.[StatusID] = Status.[ID]
)
ON Object.ID = ObjectDetail.ObjectID
)
ON Version.ID = ObjectDetail.VersionID
WHERE (((Object.Type)=0) AND ((Object.ID) Is Null))
OR (((Object.Type)=0) AND ((Object.Key) Is Null))
OR (((Object.Type)=0) AND ((Object.IsInactive) Is Null))
OR (((Object.Type)=0) AND ((Version.Version) Is Null) AND ((ObjectDetail.VersionID) Is Null))
OR (((Object.Type)=0) AND ((Status.StatusText) Is Null))
OR (((ObjectDetail.BalancePosition) Is Null))
OR (((ObjectDetail.FrequencyID) Is Null))
OR (((ObjectDetail.FrequencyTimeLagID) Is Null));
This works just fine,the problem is that faulty entries such us "999" for example in the StatusID - "999" has no definition in the small table ..are not displayed. My wish is for the query to display only the fields where there are no entries or entries which do not have a definition in the small table.
so you basically wan't to find rows which have invalid values within their columns?
You can achieve this by using a left join, and only including the null results:
SELECT a.x, b.y FROM BigTable a
LEFT JOIN SmallTable1 b ON b.id = a.id
WHERE b.id IS NULL

Hello I have the following query in postgres. And I get the following result.
create temporary table "query_table" as
select
"airgoLocator_surgerytimes".iqnum as "surgery",
adminssion_time as "Admissió in",
pre_enter_time as "Preparació in",
quiro_enter_time as "Quiròfan in",
quiro_exit_time as "Quiròfan out",
recu_enter_time as "Recuperació in",
exit_time as "Sortida",

max(case when ("airgoLocator_phase".name='Inici cirurgia') then "airgoLocator_phasehistory".timestamp else NULL end) as Inici_cirurgia,
max(case when ("airgoLocator_phase".name='Fi cirurgia') then "airgoLocator_phasehistory".timestamp else NULL end) as Fi_cirurgia,
max(case when ("airgoLocator_phase".name='Fi anestèsia') then "airgoLocator_phasehistory".timestamp else NULL end) as Fi_anestesia

inner join

--where "airgoLocator_surgerytimes".iqnum = '0018571064'
group by "airgoLocator_surgerytimes".iqnum, "airgoLocator_surgerytimes".adminssion_time,
"airgoLocator_surgerytimes".pre_enter_time, "airgoLocator_surgerytimes".quiro_enter_time,
"airgoLocator_surgerytimes".quiro_exit_time, "airgoLocator_surgerytimes".recu_enter_time,
"airgoLocator_surgerytimes".exit_time, "airgoLocator_phase".name, "airgoLocator_phasehistory".timestamp,
"airgoLocator_surgerytimes".id, "airgoLocator_phasehistory".phase_id
order by "airgoLocator_surgerytimes".id desc, phase_id asc
;
select * from "query_table" where surgery = '0018571064';
My question is how can I get rid of the null fields and the repeated data so that I am left with a single row with all the information. For example like this:
Due to the way you are adding the rows into your temp table, with null values, we have to filter for the columns that do not have null values. You can get the result you want in two different ways. Using either group by, or using inner join on the same table multiple times. Here is an example of both:
Using group by:
select distinct
t1.surgury,
t1.Admission,
t1.preperation,
t1.Quirofan_in,
t1.Quirofan_out,
t1.recuperacion,
t1.sortida,
max(t1.inici_anestesia) [inici_anestesia],
max(t1.inici_cirurgia)[inici_cirurgia],
max(t1.fi_cirurgia)[fi_cirurgia]
from table2 t1
group by surgury, Admission, preperation, Quirofan_in, Quirofan_out, recuperacion, sortida
Using inner join method:
select distinct
t1.surgury,
t1.Admission,
t1.preperation,
t1.Quirofan_in,
t1.Quirofan_out,
t1.recuperacion,
t1.sortida,
t2.inici_anestesia,
t3.inici_cirurgia,
t4.fi_cirurgia
from table2 t1
inner join table2 t2 on t2.surgury=t1.surgury and t2.inici_anestesia is not null
inner join table2 t3 on t3.surgury=t1.surgury and t3.inici_cirurgia is not null
inner join table2 t4 on t2.surgury=t1.surgury and t4.fi_cirurgia is not null
I can tell you a solution, but you need to know your data and check if this solution does not match with your expected result.
You can remove those columns from group by clause and wrap them with MAX Function in SELECT clause.
But if the values in different rows (except null values) are different you miss them. In this case you may decide to use SUM function. It depends on your business goal.
Because your query is very long; I provide you a simple sample to understand.
Create Table Test (
ID int,
groupColumn1 int,
groupColumn2 int
)
INSERT Test (ID, groupColumn1, groupColumn2)
Values (1, 10, 20),
(1, 10, NULL),
(1, NULL, 20)
select ID, Max(groupColumn1) groupColumn1, MAX(groupColumn2) groupColumn2
From Test
Group by ID
I have tables:
Result containing 5 columns: result_id, num_1, num_2, num_3, num_4
Ref containing 4 columns: num_1, num_2, num_3, num_4
Columns num contain random int in range of 1-9
Aim of exercise is to display all result_id from Result table which have num values combination present in Ref table and to display result_id which have not met combination criteria.
I've been trying left joining ref to result, but unfortunately no success. Could you please share some light how to deal with it?
If you want the result_id for which combination exists in the ref table then use following JOIN query:
select distinct r.result_id
from results r
join ref on r.num_1 = ref.num_1 and r.num_2 = ref.num_2
and r.num_3 = ref.num_3 and r.num_4 = ref.num_4
If you want the result_id for which combination do not exists in REF table then use the LEFT JOIN as follows:
select r.result_id
from results r
left join ref on r.num_1 = ref.num_1 and r.num_2 = ref.num_2
and r.num_3 = ref.num_3 and r.num_4 = ref.num_4
where ref.num_1 is null -- or use PK / Not nullable column of REF table here
Assuming you want the columns to "line up" and you want to add a flag to the result_id in the first table, then use exists:
select t1.*,
(case when exists (select 1
from table2 t2
where t2.n1 = t1.n1 and t2.n2 = t1.n2 and t2.n3 = t1.n3 and t2.n4
)
then 'present' else 'not present'
end) as flag
from t2;
I have two tables
Review and ProjectsReview. I want to change the order by columns without impacting the result. Initial order by was on createdDate column from review table.
Initial query is as below.
SELECT
*
FROM Review r
WHERE (status IS NULL
OR fstatus = '')
AND (crBy = '100'
OR crByPr = '')
ORDER BY createdDate
The query returns 8 rows.
The user wants to change the order by using program name which is in another table. The query to get the same is as below.
SELECT
r.*
FROM Review r
INNER JOIN ProjectsReview rp
ON rp.rID = r.rID
WHERE (status IS NULL
OR fstatus = '')
AND (crBy = '100'
OR crByPr = '')
ORDER BY prNo, prName
This returns 10 rows. But the required result is only 8 rows and only columns of review table.
I cannot apply group by on all the columns from Review table since there are data types with image and ntext.
Is there a way to achieve this without inserting the data to a temp table and get distinct values.
Try this
with cte
as
(
select
rn = row_number() over(partition by rID order by prNo,prName),
rID,
prNo,
prName
from ProjectsReview
)
SELECT r.*
FROM Review r
inner join cte rp on rp.rID =r.rID
WHERE (status IS NULL OR fstatus = '') AND (crBy = '100' OR crByPr = '')
and cte.rn = 1
ORDER BY prNo,prName
I am currently joining two tables based on Claim_Number and Customer_Number.
SELECT
A.*,
B.*,
FROM Company.dbo.Company_Master AS A
LEFT JOIN Company.dbp.Compound_Info AS B ON A.Claim_Number = B.Claim_Number AND A.Customer_Number = B.Customer_Number
WHERE A.Filled_YearMonth = '201312' AND A.Compound_Ind = 'Y'
This returns exactly the data I'm looking for. The problem is that I now need to join to another table to get information based on a Product_ID. This would be easy if there was only one Product_ID in the Compound_Info table for each record. However, there are 10. So basically I need to SELECT 10 additional columns for Product_Name based on each of those Product_ID's that are being selected already. How can do that? This is what I was thinking in my head, but is not working right.
SELECT
A.*,
B.*,
PD_Info_1.Product_Name,
PD_Info_2.Product_Name,
....etc {Up to 10 Product Names}
FROM Company.dbo.Company_Master AS A
LEFT JOIN Company.dbo.Compound_Info AS B ON A.Claim_Number = B.Claim_Number AND A.Customer_Number = B.Customer_Number
LEFT JOIN Company.dbo.Product_Info AS PD_Info_1 ON B.Product_ID_1 = PD_Info_1.Product_ID
LEFT JOIN Company.dbo.Product_Info AS PD_Info_2 ON B.Product_ID_2 = PD_Info_2.Product_ID
.... {Up to 10 LEFT JOIN's}
WHERE A.Filled_YearMonth = '201312' AND A.Compound_Ind = 'Y'
This query not only doesn't return the correct results, it also takes forever to run. My actual SQL is a lot longer and I've changed table names, etc but I hope that you can get the idea. If it matters, I will be creating a view based on this query.
Please advise on how to select multiple columns from the same table correctly and efficiently. Thanks!
I found put my extra stuff into CTE and add ROW_NUMBER to insure that I get only 1 row that I care about. it would look something like this. I only did for first 2 product info.
WITH PD_Info
AS ( SELECT Product_ID
,Product_Name
,Effective_Date
,ROW_NUMBER() OVER ( PARTITION BY Product_ID, Product_Name ORDER BY Effective_Date DESC ) AS RowNum
FROM Company.dbo.Product_Info)
SELECT A.*
,B.*
,PD_Info_1.Product_Name
,PD_Info_2.Product_Name
FROM Company.dbo.Company_Master AS A
LEFT JOIN Company.dbo.Compound_Info AS B
ON A.Claim_Number = B.Claim_Number
AND A.Customer_Number = B.Customer_Number
LEFT JOIN PD_Info AS PD_Info_1
ON B.Product_ID_1 = PD_Info_1.Product_ID
AND B.Fill_Date >= PD_Info_1.Effective_Date
AND PD_Info_2.RowNum = 1
LEFT JOIN PD_Info AS PD_Info_2
ON B.Product_ID_2 = PD_Info_2.Product_ID
AND B.Fill_Date >= PD_Info_2.Effective_Date
AND PD_Info_2.RowNum = 1
I am trying to increment a column on a sql server table based on the join between the initial table and the joined table. The idea is to update tblForm10Objectives, set the ObjectiveNumber column to an increment number starting with 1 based on the number of rows returned from the join of tblForm10GoalsObjectives and tblForm10Objectives where ID_Form10Goal equals a number. Example query so far:
Update tblForm10Objectives
Set ObjectiveNumber = rn
From (
Select ROW_NUMBER() over (PARTITION by OG.ID_Form10Goal) as rn
, *
From (
Select *
From tblForm10GoalsObjectives OG
Join tblForm10Objectives O On OG.ID_Form10Objective = O.ID_Form10Objective
Where OG.ID_Form10Goal = 4
Order by O.ID_Form10Objective
) as tblForm10Objectives;
If the select portion of the query is performed the columns are displayed so you can see the ObjectiveNumber is currently 0 where ID_Form10Goal = 4
Once the update runs I need for the ObjectiveNumber to show 1 , 2; since there are two rows for ID_Form10Goal = 4.
I had to introduce a new table to the logic of this update statement, the table name is tblForm10Goals. The objectives need to be pulled by ID_Agency instead of ID_Form10Goal I am getting an error message stating a "a multipart identifier 'dbo.tblForm10Objectives.ID_Form10Objective = rns.ID_Form10Objective' could not be bound. I am using the following SQL Update statement:
UPDATE dbo.tblForm10Objectives
SET ObjectiveNumber = rn
FROM tblForm10Goals As g
Left Join tblForm10GoalsObjectives gobs ON g.ID_Form10Goal = gobs.ID_Form10Goal
Right Join
(
SELECT
ROW_NUMBER() OVER (PARTITION BY g.ID_Agency
ORDER BY OB.ID_Form10Objective) AS rn,
OB.ID_Form10Objective
FROM tblForm10Goals g
LEFT JOIN dbo.tblForm10GoalsObjectives gobs ON g.ID_Form10Goal = gobs.ID_Form10Goal
RIGHT JOIN dbo.tblForm10Objectives OB ON gobs.ID_Form10Objective = OB.ID_Form10Objective
Where g.ID_Agency = 2
) rns ON dbo.tblForm10Objectives.ID_Form10Object = rns.ID_Form10Objective
Your example seems to be missing a closing parenthesis somewhere, and without the table structures to look at, I can't be certain of my answer. It seems you have two tables:
tblForm10Objectives
-------------------
ID_Form10Objective
ObjectiveNumber
...
and
tblForm10GoalsObjectives
------------------------
ID_Form10Goal
ID_Form10Objective
...
If this is the case, the following query should give you the results you desire:
UPDATE dbo.tblForm10Objectives
SET ObjectiveNumber = rn
FROM dbo.tblForm10Objectives INNER JOIN
(
SELECT
ROW_NUMBER() OVER (PARTITION BY OG.ID_Form10Goal
ORDER BY O.ID_Form10Objective) AS rn,
O.ID_Form10Objective
FROM dbo.tblForm10Objectives O INNER JOIN
dbo.tblForm10GoalsObjectives OG ON OG.ID_Form10Objective = O.ID_Form10Objective
Where OG.ID_Form10Goal = 4
) rns ON dbo.tblForm10Objectives.ID_Form10Objective = rns.ID_Form10Objective
If you run the inner SELECT statement, you will see the desired ObjectiveNumber values and the corresponding ID_Form10Objective that will get updated with those values.
If you post your table structures, I or someone else may be able to be of more help.
