I have just installed fresh Arch Linux with XFCE4 and downloaded WebStorm. I did everything exactly as it is said in howto file (by executing .sh from bin folder). When i click on the WebStorm icon it looks like nothing is happening but suddenly after around 90s (and its min. value, i wonder how long it would be including project loading..) window pops up showing loading process.
I have pretty strong laptop with i7, 8gig of ram and SSD. There isn't any project loading also. It's fresh start. It used to work on Xubuntu, but it seems like i missed something during installation process or I dont know..
It's recommended to use OracleJDK not OpenJDK.
And try to trace what is happening while loading from terminal because if there is any error it will appear immediately.

WSL2 stopped working suddenly. If I do a new installation of linux distros. Then it throws the following error, when I click launch button for the linux distro from play store:

I had the same thing happening to me after I moved the directory of my distro.
You have to unregister the distro from WSL;
wslconfig /u Ubuntu-20.04
and then just execute the installed exe and install the whole distro to WSL again.
I had to reinstall the windows to fix the issue. Something got corrupted in the OS. However, before reinstalling the OS as I had lot of work stored in the WSL2, I took the backup of the entire WSL2 image, the big .vhdx file. This file is the Virtual Hard Disk of WSL2 Linux. The files inside cannot be directly explored from Windows at the moment.
If one has not moved the file anywhere else, it is stored here: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\<PackageFamilyName>\LocalState\ext4.vhdx
Before reinstalling the OS, after taking the backup, I wanted to test if this backup runs fine on new install of WSL2. For that, I tested it on another machine, by installing the same Ubuntu WSL2 distro and replacing the .vhdx file created with the backup file. It ran fine.
So, it felt safe to do entire OS reinstall and then reinstalling WSL2 Ubuntu and finally replacing the .vhdx file with the old backup .vhdx file. So, I did loose some time. But, my data and all the applications/programs on WSL2 were intact.
I know this is old but I had the same problem after deleting a driver associated with Hyper V and fixed it by uninstalling the virtual machine platform and Windows Hypervisor along with WSL, rebooted, reinstalled all 3 and then I could install Ubuntu again
This is my first answer on stack overflow and English is not my first language.
So, I will answer this question in images. My solution would not delete the date in any existing installed Linux distribution, at least for me.

On my computer (64 bit operating system, x64 based processor) I installed Amazon Correto JDK 11 (for 64 bit) and IntelliJ IDEA. it was working till today without any issues. But now I can not open my Intellij IDEA. In fact it is not even launching.
I checked the environment variables and path reference of Java. It is all set. But when I double click on Intellij IDEA it is showing loading sign for a moment but it is not launching. I tried to run the same by going to it's directory and by using cmd. But still it is not launching. When I try to open the 32-bit version I get an error, but I know it is obvious, because I am using a JDK version for 64 bit. I want to know why my Intellij IDEA is not launching. Even after downloading the appropriate Java version and setting up the path correctly. There were no issues till today. I tried reinstalling my Java and Intellij. Still the issue is there. If anyone can help, please let me know the reason.
You are trying to run 32-bit idea.exe while your default JDK points to 64-bit JDK, hence the problem. Please use idea64.exe instead that will run on the bundled JetBrains Runtime.
In case idea64.exe also fails, please run using idea.bat inside cmd.exe to see if there any errors logged in the console.
Perform the steps from this document if the issue is caused by some plug-in or corrupted options.
First my specs are an Intel i7 toshiba laptop with 8gigs of RAM running windows 8.1 with all the latest updates. When I first launch any of Jetbrains IDEs after install, it would ask me for my workspace location and then it would proceed to do nothing after than, but it stays in memory and slows down my entire system for about a minute, after that, the computer stops being slow and returns to normal but the program still does nothing (no GUI) but still remains in memory, what is going on??? It's hard giving a definite answer to your question. But it sounds to me like you have a problem with your Java. Make sure you have it installed and at the latest version.
Also, try looking for matching bugs in the JetBrains bug tracker.
Replacing the jre folder within the IDE folder (pycharm,intelliJ,etc.) with one from an updated JDK install not JRE install.
ex:
JDK/jre7 copy over Jetbrains/IDE/jre
fixes the issue
I am using the OS Ubuntu 12.04 and I have installed Netbeans 7.0.1 on it, my laptop's configuration is pretty good but still Netbeans runs really really slow on it and it hangs completely after using it only for a few mins. On doing some research I found that many people suggested to add the following line in the netbeans.conf file "netbeans_jdkhome="/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.7.0-openjdk-amd64"
which I did but nothing has changed. It still lags a lot.
I can think of a couple of things I would try. Firstly, upgrade to NetBeans 7.4 as recent versions of NetBeans do more work in background threads, improving the general responsiveness of the application.
Secondly, in the etc directory of the NetBeans install (on Windows) there's a netbeans.conf. Try editing the netbeans_default_options property to set -J-Xmx to something large, maybe 256m or 512m. That should give NB a bit more space to play with.
I am having problems getting the GTK designer to work with MonoDevelop. I tried 2.4 on Arch Linux and it gave this problem. Then I tried 2.2 on OpenBSD and it gives the exact same problem. Both machines are 64bit.
Instead of having a window to drag things on I just have a blank square:

So what gives? With my blank square I can't drag anything onto it, not a VBox or other container even. It will not react to anything.
Am I missing some sort of GTK# configuration or what? I find it highly improbable that both OSs' packages I tried are broken. Also, I've attached a (huge) bounty to this because this is a pretty big issue for me.

Ok, so I've finally gotten a bit closer to solving the mystery. I use Fluxbox as my window manager usually. Well I tried using both KDE and Gnome-Session and both of them cause MonoDevelop to work properly(though still missing the window border, you could at least drag components onto it). Now my question is what makes Fluxbox not work for it?

I get the exact same error using Monodevelop 2.4, and I think this could be either from a broken GTK# installation or from a bug in Monodevelop,

If this does not resolve the problem submitting a bug report is the next option. Although this is somehow strange, since I managed to complete the same tutorial using Kubuntu 10.04 LTS 64 bit a few weeks ago.
Uh, that is the designer. If the toolbox didn't show up, go to View->Pads->Toolbox to bring it up.
Note that this Gtk, you can't just drop a button or textbox on the design surface. You have to drop a container control first, and then can place buttons and such inside the container.
