I have a table in my database called systemconfig which has some configs that I'll use on my reports. The idea is, instead of adjusting the 'number formats' directly in the textboxes properties of the report, I just change a value in this table, and then through a custom expression in the format property, it gets the value from this table
The query of the dataset 'ds_DecimalValues' is like this:

In the textbox properties I have this expression in the Format line:
=First(Fields!DecimalValue.Value, "ds_DecimalValue")
But the report is showing 2 decimal values instead of none. I'm not sure if the decimal values are correct on the systemconfig table, I assume that '##' is correct to show no decimal values but I'm not sure about it. Any ideas guys??

When I have done this in the past I would typically use someting like f0 or n0 as the format code.
Try using this instead of ##.
If this does not work then a couple of things to debug.
Add a textbox that contains the same expression as you are using in your format property expression, make sure it is returning what you expect
Type the format code directly in and make sure that it formats as you expected.
remember that you don't need to use quotes when using codes like f0 etc.
I have tried everything that I can think of to get the right date format. Can anybody help with this RPA-problem in UiPath. I have used the 'get text' activity to get the folder date and after that tried to use the
Datetime.ParseExact(Str variable,"dd/MM/yyyy", System.Globalization.CultureInfo.InvariantCulture).
It gives me the error:
Assign: String was not recognized as a valid DateTime.
Your help is much appreciated.
edit: I have now sought help from a friend who figured it out. The error was in the string, which could not be seen, because there was an invisible character in the string that I extracted through 'get text' activity. The solution is in 2 steps:
assign another variable to the exact same date and use an if statement to find out if these two strings are equal and you will find out that they are not.
Now use a regex to capture only digits and slash/hyphen which will get rid of the invisible character.
Try to use "dd_MM_yyyy" instead of "dd/MM/yyyy".
The reason is because UiPath/VB.Net has a habit of using US date formatting even though you're using Culture Info...It's a real pain
Try this:
pDateString = "21/02/2020"
Assign a Date type variable = Date.ParseExact(pDateString,"dd/MM/yyyy",nothing)
Here we're telling the parser to use English format date...The Date type returned will be in US format but you can simply convert back to uk IF needed by using something like:
pDateString("dd/MM/yyyy")
I've looked through a number of tutorials and asks, and haven't found a working solution to my problem.
Suppose my dataset has two columns: sort_order and field_value. sort_order is an integer and field_value is a numerical (10,2).
I want to format some rows as #,#0 and others as #,#0.00.
Normally I would just do
iif( fields!sort_order.value = 1 or fields!sort_order.value = 23 or .....
unfortunately, the list is fairly long.
I'd like to do the equivalent of if fields!sort_order.value in (1,2,21,63,78,...) then...)
As recommended in another post, I tried the following (if sort in list, then just output a 0, else a 1. this is just to test the functionality of the IN operator):

However, it doesn't look like the SSRS expression editor wants to accept the "IN" operator. Which is strange, because all the examples I've found that solve this problem use the IN operator.
Any advice?
Try using IndexOf function:
=IIF(Array.IndexOf(split("1,2,3,4,...",","),fields!sort_order.Value)>-1,0,1)
Note all values must be inside quotations.
Consider the recommendation of #Jakub, I recommend this solution if
your are feeding your report via SP and you can't touch it.

In SQL Server 2008 R2 I need to extract from a string everything between the character 50 and 60.
I've searched for a similar function on the internet but didn't really find something which can address the problem.
I can do it on Excel with a formula like: MID(A2, 50, 10)
The sql function is called substring
substring(fieldname,50,10)
If you need more flexibility, for instance if the separation does not occur in the same place each time you can use CHARINDEX. Here are a couple examples.
REVERSE(LEFT(REVERSE(fieldname),CHARINDEX(' ',REVERSE(fieldname))))
If your string is "AA 1235 A9" the output will be A9.
REPLACE(STUFF(fieldname,1,CHARINDEX('- ',fieldname),''),REVERSE(LEFT(REVERSE(fieldname),CHARINDEX(' ',REVERSE(fieldname)))),'')
Adding on to the first bit of code you can also pull the middle portion which will result in 1235. The ' ' is flexible and if there is a hyphen, asterisk or some other symbol/identifier you need to use then just use that instead of the space.
Is there a simple way (like convert or cast) to return a binary field as a string without actually converting it or casting it?

When using convert(varchar(max), binary_field), it comes back like this:

I'm trying to modify a datasource in an old vb.net application, so I want it to be a string like the existing values, but still look like the original data. I don't have to do it in the query, but I'd like to if possible to avoid modifying the old vb code too much.
Here is my select statement:
SELECT strName, strDesc, binUUID
FROM MyTableName
where intFamily = '1234'
order by strName
Alternatively, if I do cast/convert it, would it be safe to compare "$ü#FXÖC” f„étŸ0" stored as a string at a later time to another value gathered in the same way?
