IMHO a template is the wrong place to implement logic like this. You should determine upfront (in whatever you do - you don't mention your environment other than velocity), before you determine that the velocity template in question should render the output.
Once you're in the template, you can't assume that you're within a web browser (it might render an email message) or that you have access to the response headers (the template might be rendered as part of a page when the response has already been "committed", e.g. the headers are already sent to the browser.
Do yourself a favor and move the logic further up the chain, out of your velocity template. If you need a quick fix: render Javascript that triggers the redirect. But pay back this technical debt sooner rather than later.

I am testing a login functionality on a 3rd party website. I have this url example.com/login . When I copy and paste this into the browser (chrome), page sometimes load, but sometime does not (empty blank white page).
The problem is that I have to run a script on this page to click one of the elements (all the elements are embedded inside #shadow-root). If the page loads, no problem, script is evaluated successfully. But page sometimes does not load and it returns a 404 in response to an XHR request, and as a result, my * eval(scrip("script") step returns "js eval failed...".
So I found the solution to refresh the page, and to do that, I am considering to capture the xhr request response. If the status code is 404, then refresh the page. If not, continue with the following steps.
Now, I think this may work, but I do not know how to implement karate's Intercepting HTTP Requests. And firstly, is that something doable?

I suggest you do some research into that, try to take the help of someone who knows JS, the DOM and HTML well - and you should be find a way to know if the XHR has been made successfully or not - for e.g. based on whether some element on the page has changed etc.

It's possible but might be a little tricky to strip out the required resources and load them in your own application while making sure that there aren't any conflicts. This is actually something I plan on doing for one of my own projects.
Do you need to do this though? You can talk to the iframe from your application pretty easily. For example, to get the SVG content you would use this (assuming you only have 1 iframe on the page) ->

I was recently tasked with loading a portion of my Rails application within an iframe on another website. The relevant pages should be using a different layout file, but only if they're being rendered inside of the iframe. There was a solution proposed here Detect iframe request in a rails app that involved passing a query string parameter.
For example the requesting website could call my application through an iframe with the src of http://foo.com/bar?iframe=true. Then in our controller we could simply check:

This seems like a good solution, but sadly that only works for the initial request as the original query string is completely static. Assuming we have accessible links to other routes within the iframe is there any way of easily relaying the iframe=true request parameter to maintain the correct iframe layout without having to repeat code? Basically I would like to take the DRYest approach possible without breaking any existing functionality. I considered creating another link_to helper which included the logic to relay this parameter if it exists and replacing all of my link_to calls throughout my application; I was wondering if anybody had a better approach though.
I decided to tackle this problem using JavaScript and added the following to my haml layout file:

This coupled with my server-side checks for the iframe param will ensure that the appropriate layout is loaded. I decided to only cater this functionality to users who enable JavaScript so it might not be the best solution. The only other problem with this approach lies in controller redirects and forms where I have to manually check for the iframe param and then forward it accordingly - not DRY at all, but I was at least able to put the logic into a controller method. If somebody knowns of a better solution please feel free to leave an answer.

The "+1 button" works fine on normal pages (where there's just the single +1). But I have a page with multiple entities (to use the terms of Drupal: A View displaying multiple nodes) where I'd like to add "share buttons". So far I've added Twitter and Facebook.
Twitter is the simplest as it just takes the string you give it..
Facebook takes an url, but you can specify your own url.

To explain why I want to use separate URL:
every node is something like an event, every node has it's own url (which contains an image and text/info). So when you click Like (for FB) it gets the title, info & image and includes it in the post (So it says "What's up - Gathering", instead of a generic "What's up" and no/the same image).
I'd like to accomplish the same with G+.
Is there a way to accomplish this for G+?? Have I missed something??
I guess one way to do this is by using an iframe for each of the nodes and pull in a special version of the "node page" with just the g+-button. But that's a pretty nasty hack (and not that fun to set up).
Any ideas are welcome!
The error you're seeing is actually due to an issue in Chrome. The +1 button should automatically recover.
You can explicitly specify target pages by using the href attribute. Your markup will look like this in practice:
<g:plusone href="http://example.com/targeturl"></g:plusone>
Or like this with HTML5 syntax:
<div class="g-plusone" data-href="http://example.com/targeturl"></div>

Situation: I needed to add form with POST method to CMS page. I created custom hook and a module displaying the form successfully. Then I need to react to user input errors eg. when user doesn't enter email address I need to detect it, display the whole page again together with the form and with "errors" in user input clearly stated.
Problem: The problem is to display the WHOLE page again with connected information (eg. about errors etc.). In the module PHP file when I add this kind of code,

it (naturally) displays ONLY the form, not the whole CMS page with the form.

My question is: is there a way to "redirect" or "reload" current page (or possibly any page generally) in prestashop together with my own data included?
I kind of explained the whole case so I'm open to hear a better overall solution than my (maybe I'm thinking about the case in a wrong way at all). This would be other possible answer.
The simplest method would be to use javascript to validate the form - you can use jQuery to highlight the fields that are in error; providing visual feedback on how the submission failed. In effect you don't allow the user to submit the form (and thus leave the page) until you're happy that the action will succeed. I assume that you will then redirect to another page once a successful submission has been received.
There's lots of articles and how-tos available for using javascript, and indeed jQuery for form validation. If you want to keep the site lean and mean, then you can provide an override for the CMS controller and only enqueue the script for the specific page(s) you want to use form validation on.
If the validation is complex, then you might be best using AJAX and just reloading the form section of your page via a call to your module. Hooks aren't great for this kind of thing, so you might want to consider using an alternative mnethod to inject your code onto the cms page.
