React - Minified exception occurred - npm

I have React js installed via NPM and using browserify to manage components in react. When an exception occurs in React, the console shows as
"Uncaught Error: Minified exception occurred; use the non-minified dev
environment for the full error message and additional helpful
warnings."
How do I enable full error messages ?

Setting NODE_ENV to development as Benjamin Gruenbaum pointed out in the comment resolved the issues.
set NODE_ENV=development

If you are encountering this issue with Karma + Webpack, the following Webpack configuration fixed the issue for me when running tests:

I FINALLY SOLVED THIS.
If you're like me and ran that command to set NODE_ENV and it's literally never worked, check if you're linking to react.min.js instead of the full versions of the files.
Link to the full versions and it should work like a charm. :D

If you are using jspm to bundle your code, note that version 0.16.24 imports the minified "production" version of React, which throws this error. My temporary solution was to downgrade jspm to 0.16.23.
edit Future versions of jspm will allow you to declare production vs. development versions (see jspm beta documentation)

I had this issue, and for me I didn't need to disable minification or use react source. My script was just loading before the root element. So I just moved the script out of the head and below the div in the index file source code and that fixed it.
Changed my index.jade from this:

I got this error when my render method returned undefined eg

This will trigger the error when this.props.foo is 'hi'

Have you check the DOM element that you are trying render ? I had this error before due to a silly mistake. The worst part is bundle was minified. The element id is not same

As of version 15.2, production React error messages (NODE_ENV=production) now include a URL that you can visit where you can see the original, unobfuscated error.

You should consider upgrading to React 15.2 in order to get access to these error messages. Additionally, some production crash reporting tools automatically unminify these errors for you.

use the min.js files in production or bundle your application code with process.env.NODE_ENV === 'production' and you should be good to go!

If your package.json scripts has dll, try exec npm run dll or yarn run dll.

ERROR Cannot start nuxt: Context is not availablet

I'm trying to run the Nuxt3 app but when I'm trying to run npm run dev then this error showing in my console: ERROR Cannot start nuxt: Context is not available
Anyone have face the same type of issue and how to fix that.
I had this same issue but the problem was that I was trying to use Nuxt/Vue specific functionality in a .ts file.
I was abstracting some of the lengthier functions and computed objects into a composition file, specifically import { useNuxtApp } from '#imports' and const { $store } = useNuxtApp(). The .ts file has no Nuxt context so these imports and functions just won't work there!
Might you be experiencing something similar?
I had same issue, when i try generated app for production "npm run generate".
Most likely its a version issue, update nuxt to "3.0.0-rc.8"

React native Fabric autolink error with react 60.0 and above

I have upgraded to my app to react-native 60.4 which support Autolinking all packages so that you dont have to manually go about setting things up and thus lowers the chances of error.
The problem is most of the packages have still not gotten compatible with this process and henceforth the app completely breaks.
my error is with https://github.com/corymsmith/react-native-fabric
referring to an issue on the repo for the same -> https://github.com/corymsmith/react-native-fabric/issues/225, which still remains unanswered.
I started giving it a try by forking the repo and understanding the auto link process given by react native.
In the package.json of the node_module package i replaced

My react native app is able to now find the package.
But when i call the package in my react component i get NoClassDefFoundError, which means that class is not found.
Anybody else gave this a try and have a solution please let me know.
Try to unlink with react-native unlink and then re run your code again.
Putting it here from the above comment to make it more clear:
Ok i got this to work by changing the forked repo -> (adding a react-native.config.js in the root of the package with with auto discovery and link configurations), but i think the only scalable solution i see right now is to degrade to RN ^59.0 as not a lot of packages have auto link config changes. So will wait for RN 60.4 to mature and then upgrade to it in about a month. In addition to this fabric is currently migrating to firebase and plans to complete by year end. This mean that anyways the sdk integration is going to be obsolete and hence this package too.
Also this issue is majorly related to react-native-fabric and not RN itself.

Webpack 4 : ERROR in Entry module not found: Error: Can't resolve './src'

I was trying to run webpack-4 first time

it shows warning / error :

Then i tried to change the mode
webpack --mode development
it shows :

Resolved
Spent a lot of time to find out the solution.
Solution: Add index.js file into src folder.
That's it!.. solved :)
During Research, I found some facts about webpack 4 :
webpack 4 doesn’t need a configuration file by default!
webpack 4 there is no need to define the entry point: it will take ./src/index.js as the default!
Met this problem when deploying on now.sh
Solution: Use Default Behavior
Move entry point to src/index.js.
This leverage webpack#4 default value for entry:
By default its value is ./src/index.js, but you can specify a
different (or multiple entry points) by configuring the entry property
in the webpack configuration.
Solution: Be Specific
As #Lokeh pointed out, if you don't want to change your JS file location you can always use path.resolve() in your webpack.config.js:

Adding a context explicitly in webpack.config.js fixed issue for me. Adapt the following piece of code in your project:
context: __dirname + '/src',
entry: './index.js',
webpack ./src/js/app.js --output ./dist/app.bundle.js --mode development
This worked for me. I had the same trouble, it is because of a new version of webpack

Perhaps someone gets stuck during migration from webpack 4 to 5.
in case of multiple webpack config files and if anyone uses merge:
Say webpack.common.js relies on some variables passed from cli eg:

I had a similar error and was able to resolve it with the command webpack src/index.js -o dist/bundle.js the -o did the trick. The issue wasn't the location of index.js it was missing the operator for defining the output path location.

Then npm run build and it works. At first i've tried with npx webpack. Would love to know why it works.
Just leaving this here, incase someone is not paying attention to the details like me, I had the same error, but because my webpack config file was named webpack.config instead on webpack.config.js, so my custom configurations were never picked and webpack was falling back to the defaults entry "src/index.js"
As of webpack ^4.29.6 you don't need any configuration file so instead of giving path in package.json we need to write simply "build": "webpack" and keep index.js as entry point in src folder. However if you want to change entry point you can do so in webpack config file
For Rails 6 application this steps worked for me:
1) bundle exec rails webpacker:install
system will reinstall webpacker but will rewrite few files:
modified: config/webpack/environment.js
modified: config/webpacker.yml
modified: package.json
modified: yarn.lock
2) Return configs to initial state:
git checkout config/webpack/environment.js
git checkout config/webpacker.yml
package.json and yarn.lock you can leave as they are
Spent a lot of time similarly to others to get around this annoying problem. Finally changed webpack.config.js as follows:-

...as Edouard Lopez and Sabir Hussain mentioned that you don't need to mention an entry point, removed that also and the app compiled after a long frustration.
So my problem, which I would wager is a lot of people's problem is that I set the entry path based on my whole app root. So in my case, it was /client/main.ts. But because my webpack.config.js file was actually inside /client, I had to move into that folder to run webpack. Therefore my entry was now looking for /client/client/main.ts.
So if you get this error you need to really look at your entry path and make sure it is right based on where you are running webpack and where your webpack.config.js file is. Your entry path needs to be relative to where you are running webpack. Not relative to your app root.
I had this problem when changing between React/Rails gems. Running rails webpacker:install restored me to the Rails webpacker defaults, but also overwrote all of my config files. Upon closer inspection, the culprit turned out to be my webpack/development.js file, which in a previous gem version had gotten modified from this Rails webpacker default:

Once I restored the file to those contents, this error went away. Specifically I had been missing the module.exports = environment.toWebpackConfig() line, which apparently is pretty important for those who want to avoid Rails webpacker thinking it needs a src/index.js file (it doesn't)

Jest test __DEV__ is not defined

Basically my issue is that I get an error message, "__DEV__ is not defined" when I run jest. So I have read stackoverflow and other google posts on this. Some have suggested removing my .babelrc, but I actually need that file. Others have suggested adding

To my package.json. I did that as well. I even deleted my node modules folder and re-installed. What should I do? Odd thing is that it was working before, but not now.
You can create a jest.config.json file in the root of your react-native project and add this globally as such

Just add globals.DEV = true to your test file or set it in globals part of your jest settings
I got this when I was running Detox E2E tests inside of my react native app. Then use to work just fine but then I upgraded my mac OS and xcode and they started throwing Reference error DEV is not defined. Not sure why it was fine before and then broke after that.
My issue was fixed when I removed any code that was being imported from my react native app inside of the detox E2E tests. So the issue was importing any javascript from my app/ folder. I had a simple utility log function that wraps console.log which was the culprit. I did not need to modify any jest configs.
For anyone facing this issue I updated my jest by running in the terminal npm update jest this solved the issue for me.

After bundling my aurelia app I get a: No PLATFORM.Loader error

After bundling a simple aurelia application with jspm bundle-sfx I get the following error:
No PLATFORM.Loader is defined and there is neither a System API (ES6) or a Require API (AMD) globally available to load your app.

You can use: npm run setup:dev in a non windows env to switch back to the dev settings (which is just a comment/uncomment in the ./src/client/index.html) and you can use npm run setup:prod to switch back to the production environment, bundling will automatically be triggered. all other scripts can be found in the package.json.
I can't link to other questions because I haven't found any questions which relate to this problem. I "think" (which means absolutely nothing) that this might be related to the fact that aurelia needs a full loader even when bundling with bundle-sfx but I haven't found any ways to solve the error.
EDIT (25/01/2017 17:16): I've found out that the error is because I import the aurelia-bootstrapper.
As soon as I add: import * as bootstrapper from 'aurelia-bootstrapper'; I get the error
Please add the code how do you bootstrap your aurelia app.
There is nothing actually to import from bootstrapper apart from bootstrap function.
Which you would use in case of custom manual bootstrapping.
