I've never did rewrite rules and everything I try out and find at google doesn't work. Especially creating multiple rewrite rules is hard for me because I don't know how the right syntax is and how a proper implementation looks like (1 Rewrite Condition or multiple and similar questions).
Thus I would be happy to get a result for my following try:
https://www.domain.com/our_accounts.php -> https://www.domain.com/accounts
The http -> https rule is already working. Maybe there is also the problem with my rewrite rules because I may need to add them before my https rules ?? I hope you guys can help me with this.

About proxying
When behind some forms of proxying, whereby the client is connecting via HTTPS to a proxy, load balancer, Passenger application, etc., the %{HTTPS} variable may never be on and cause a rewrite loop. This is because your application is actually receiving plain HTTP traffic even though the client and the proxy/load balancer are using HTTPS. In these cases, check the X-Forwarded-Proto header instead of the %{HTTPS} variable. This answer shows the appropriate process
Michals answer worked for me, albeit with one small modification:
Problem:
when you have a single site security certificate, a browser that tries to access your page without https:// www. (or whichever domain your certificate covers) will display an ugly red warning screen before it even gets to receive the redirect to the safe and correct https page.
Solution
First use the redirect to the www (or whichever domain is covered by your certificate) and only then do the https redirect. This will ensure that your users are not confronted with any error because your browser sees a certificate that doesn't cover the current url.

Don't ever use the solution below because when you are using their code that is something like:

URIs that go through rules in an htaccess file has the leading slash stripped off, so you can't match against it. For the second rule, it's matching the / request because the first rule isn't being applied and your regex matches anything or nothing, you can fix that by changing the * to +:

For whatever reason I can't seem to get this right, I've looked at many examples on here and apache's website. I'm trying to force www.domain.com instead of domain.com on EITHER http or https but I am not trying to force https over http.

You don't need the second RewriteEngine directive. That may or may not be causing a parse issue making the second set of rules not work. To test whether this is the case, try switching the order of the two blocks you have.
It's good practice to use L to modify requests that are definitely the last. So, change [R=301] to [R=301,L] both times it appears.
Largely as a matter of style, I would consider changing the RewriteRule directives to something like (using http or https as appropriate):
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.domain.com$1 [R=301,L,QSA]

I have the problem but with many subdomains: E.g..
sub1.domain.com and new.domain.com and xsub.domain.com and many many more like this.
How do I remove the www from in front of any of these with one generic rule.
