Looks like there is not DynamicResource in XAML for Windows 8.1 platform. Is there any other alternative to change resources in runtime ?
Based on this blogpost, I would presume that the most similar built-in substitute is ThemeResource, though it seems to be limited to theme changes as a trigger.
I have not tried this myself. If there actually is a better built-in alternative, I am happy to delete this answer.

I'm looking for some guideline what's the difference between #fluent-ui/react and #fluent-ui/react-northstar. This documentation (READMEs) are super imprecise. I'm don't understand which one to use for what.
I'm writing that react-component to be ran in webapp and the word plugin. Do you know which one to go for? They both look a bit different and feels that theming works a bit different.
You should use fluent-ui/react-northstar if you want to develop apps for Microsoft Teams, else you should use the normal fluent-ui.
If you look at a simple example of a dropdown, you will see that there is quite a lot of difference between the two. Northstar's dropdown combines the features of the dropdown with combobox.

I've noticed that the StyledTextControl (Scintilla basically) in wxWidgets has a great feature that allows multi-selections of text, just like TextMate. However wxRuby doesn't seem to have the function calls to support that feature. I'm wonder if there is a way to enable it or if there might be a way I could rewrite that wrapper to include that function.
It seems strange that they would purposely omit that since they are seemingly pretty exhaustive on most functions calls. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to write an open source TextMate clone in Ruby and it's gonna be pretty hard without MultiSelect, I could probably hack something together but it'd be ugly. Thanks ahead of time.
You don't write which version of wxWidgets you are using, but AFAIK only the 2.x versions of the Scintilla library support MultiSelect, which isn't available in stable wxWidgets. wxWidgets 2.8.10 uses Scintilla version 1.70. The SVN trunk uses version 1.75.

The tools on that list are quite diverse. The SHOE thing and annotea are both quite old now, I probably wouldn't bother. Annozilla is a firefox plugin, that can also speak to the annotea server,it may be nicer and more modern, but I have not tried it.
There was another nice firefox extension for annotationgs, I forget exactly what it was, but it may have developed into this: http://www.zotero.org/ Looks interesting either way.
I'm planning to do a Cocoa app that requires code syntax to be colored (in all common languages). Instead of writing my own code highlighter/parser, are there any pre-made solutions available?

An excellent solution is Uli Kusterer's UKSyntaxColoredTextDocument. It is fast and has several built-in syntax parsers. It's easy to add new languages.
It's free for non-commercial use and very cheap if you want it for a commercial app.
You can also use the JavaScript library SyntaxHighlighter and embed it into a WebView into your app.
After quite a bit of research trying to solve a similar problem, the simplest approach I found by far is to use a JavaScript library for syntax highlighting combined with a WebView. Spending time writing a syntax highlighter, a fairly complex task, is probably not what you'd want to spend time on.
I settled on using the popular CodeMirror and wrote an open source wrapper for Cocoa: https://github.com/swisspol/CodeMirrorView. You can use similar approaches to wrap other JavaScript based code editors in Cocoa apps.
You can use highlight that is used in QLColorCode :) (however, it's not a Framework that you include in your code, but a command-line utility)

Does anyone know of any good free libraries providing Windows Forms controls for displaying schedules/timetables in .NET? I'm really looking for something similar to what the guy who asked this question was seeking, with a couple of differences:
I don't need any help organizing the underlying data or generating the schedule (that's all set) -- I just want a clean way of displaying it.
I'm actually looking for a custom control in Windows Forms, not an ASP.NET control.
One thing I've considered doing is just using a TableLayoutPanel control, but ideally I'm looking for something that will be more straightforward code-wise (as in, something actually designed for displaying a timetable) and sharper-looking visually.
How about this control? It is very similar to the calendar in Outlook. It does come with source code, so if it's not quite what you need you could maybe use this as a base for your own implementation.

He built a control (CalWidget) that you can easily recompile in your own project that's pretty nice. I recompiled it in .net 4.0 with little problems.
