After updating from macOS High Sierra to Mojave and I successfully installed Xcode 7.3.1 but it cannot be opened. Does Mojave support Xcode 7?
I have experienced the same issue after upgrading to macOS Mojave. The only solution which I had to do is to download Xcode 8 and migrate to Swift 3.
Incase there're any alternatives, please share!
I recently upgraded to new beta version of macOS 10.14 but after installing it when I tried to open my older version of Xcode 8.3.2, every time it gets crashed. Below is its details.
Symbol not found: _OBJC_IVAR_$_NSTextViewIvars.sharedData
Xcode 8.X.X is doesn't support on macos 10.12 later version.
Cause of issue: "DYLD, [0x4] Symbol missing"
and also doesn't meet the swift version. so you need to upgrade your Xcode version or downgrade your os version below 10.12
As discussed in a few places like here and here, Xcode 8 does not run on Mojave. The best approach at this point is to either migrate your application to run with the latest Xcode, or run a VM with High Sierra or earlier that still supports your required version of Xcode.
Xcode 8's some versions is not compatible with macOS 10.14 just because of swift version.
So, if you want XCode 8, did you try to upgrade first to 8.3 ?
Hi I am currently using Xcode 7.3.1 on macOS Sierra. Due to the issue ERROR ITMS 90167. I can't upload my archive using Xcode 7.3.1. So, It's time to upgrade Xcode 8.
But, unfortunately, I can't use Xcode 8 to Develop application due to migration problem on my previous project which was big. All I want is built in Application Loader from Xcode 8. And I need to do some migration on Xcode 8 while I am developing my current app from 7.3.1
And I did download Xcode 8 from Developer Program => Xcode8.xip
Before I install this version, I changed my previous Xcode 7.3.1 to
//Application/Xcode7.3.1.app
inorder to protect overwriting this version.
When I paste Xcode 8(Xcode.app) which i extract from .xip to Application Folder, I open it after its done installing after passing "Installing Component".
Then I open it,it worked (Xcode.app) = Xcode 8.
Then when I open my 7.3.1(Xcode7.3.1.app), it stop working means can't open and show me crash message every time I opened it until I changed my Xcode 8 app title to
//Application/Xcode8.app
So, there will be two Xcode Version on Application Folder. Then when I open Xcode 8(Xcode8.app), it won't let me open and show me error alert again. But, Xcode 7.3.1(Xcode7.3.1.app) come back to live and prompt me to install .git Command Line Tools then I can work back using Xcode 7.3.1.
But then, my problem is I can't open or use Xcode 8 anymore even I change my Xcode app name to different name. Was it "Command Line Tools" causing the problem?
I really need solution to solve this case because I want to use both Xcode Version on my mac.Any Help?
Download Xcode DMG files. I have Xcode 7.3.1 in my Applications folder and Xcode 8.0 in my Desktop folder. I use both Xcode very often.
If you already have two Xcode delete one, delete Xcode 8.0. Or delete both of them if you want. And you can download Xcode 8.0 from developer portal or update to macOS Sierra and download the AppStore version of Xcode 8.0. But then you can't download Xcode 7.3.1, you will not get the DMG, I don't think that you can download the DMG from developer portal for Xcode 7.3.1.
So in my opinion the best option is that. delete Xcode 8.0 from your Applications folder. And download Xcode 8.0 DMG from developer portal and put in some other folder not in Applications folder.
I have both the versions of Xcode 7.3 and 8.0. I have installed Xcode 8.0 from dmg file without changing anything in the applications folder for Xcode 7.3.1.
After installation of Xcode 8.0, I observed application folder has only one Xcode version so to open projects in different version I do something like in the image
This works just fine.
I have recently updated Xcode 6.4 to 7.1 but after successful update it still shows 6.4. Anything else I need to take care while upgrading to 7.1 ?
My Mac OS version is 10.10.5 .Please give some assistance , thanks in advance.

Xcode 7 update completes but Xcode 6.4 remains
I've had issues like this before and found that deleting old Xcode and installing the new new one downloaded from Apple works better than using the Mac App store.
Once logged into developer.apple.com you should be able to get the 7.1 dmg from https://developer.apple.com/downloads/ download that (http://adcdownload.apple.com/Developer_Tools/Xcode_7.1/Xcode_7.1.dmg) and install from there.
Ive upgraded the version of Xcode to 7 (Release version).
Is it possible to have Xcode 7 and Xcode 6 installed side by side?
I need to support users on the iOS 7.0 platform but for testing I do not have extra devices with me with iOS 7.0 installed. If the answer to the previous question is NO, is there a way to install iOS 7.0 simulators in Xcode 7
Follow up question: If I open a project in Xcode 7 and then open it Xcode 6 will there be any errors in the project files/storyboards?
Yes, you can have multiple copies of Xcode.app installed on the same computer and switch between them. You may run into issues if you try to use both at the same time, but as long as you quit one before using the other, you should be fine.
There is no way to install the iOS 7.0 Simulator with Xcode 7.0. The iOS 7.0 Simulator Runtime is not supported on Yosemite and newer host OS versions, and Xcode 7.0 is only supported on Yosemite and later. You will need to use a Mavericks host OS in order to use the iOS 7.0 Simulator Runtime. If you would be satisfied with the iOS 7.1 Simulator Runtime, that is still supported on Yosemite (but not El Capitan) when using Xcode 6.x (but not Xcode 7.0).
In regards to opening your project in different Xcode versions, there shouldn't be any problems like that.
For your first question i think this link can be help full, please check
Can Xcode 6 and Xcode 5 coexist on the same computer?
I have xCode 6.4 http://developer.apple.com/devcenter/download.action?path=/Developer_Tools/Xcode_6.4/Xcode_6.4.dmg and xCode 7 side by side, just download and install "xCode 2"
