Create pfx file from Symantec code signing certificate - ssl

We have a password-protected pfx file, expiring in a few days, which we use to sign our exes.
We have renewed our SSL certificate from Symantec, but all we have received is a bunch of data:

I have seen a few tutorials to create pfx files from .cer and .key files, but the fun part is, Symantec doesn't use the same terminology as the rest of the world. So I don't know which is which. And no single tutorial explains what should be in the files, so I can't go from there either. So, I don't know how to create the .key file, for instance.

It turns out that the main requirement is to install the certificate on a browser, from the computer that has made the request for a new certificate.
Then, most browsers (IE, FF, Chrome) can export it to PFX from the installed certificates list.

How do I correctly install certificates to make soap request on windows 10

I need to make a request to a soap service and it is protected with certificates.
I have installed the certificates as far as I am able to tell. However the soap request fails with handshake errors.
I have a bunch of certificate files given to me but I have no idea which ones are which.
So I have as follows (names changed to protect information)
MyCertificationAuthority.pem
MyCert.pem
MyCert2.pem
then I have what looks to be the same things in a different format.
MyCertificationAuthority.p7b
MyCert.p7b
then I have a single file named MyCert.pem but is smaller in file size than the other one of the same name and contains simply

-----END NEW CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----
I was told that this was the private key file, however if I check it using
openssl rsa
then it errors.
I have double clicked on the p7b files and installed the certificates in them using the default options and I have those certificates in the Certificate Management app in windows.
3 are in the Third Part Certification Authorities folder
1 ended up in the Other People folder (which I have also copied into the Trusted Root Certification Authorities Folder)
4 have ended up in the Intermediate Certification Authorities Folder
All were installed for local computer rather than current user.
Now I am led to believe I should have a private key file too. However I can not find where this could be.
What am I doing wrong? Where would I normally get the private key file from?
I would have thought the service side has the private key in order to verify that our certificate is valid?

Comodo Essentials SSL: Vestacp "SSL intermediate chain is not valid"

I'm trying to install Comodo Essential SSL via Vestacp here's that I did. I opened www_example_com.crt and copied the digest and pasted it into SSL Certificate box then opened www_example_com.key used to generate the ssl at the beginning which starts with -----BEGIN PRIVATE KEY----- and pasted the digest into SSL Key box then copied the digest of the other 3 files in this order into one file and copied the whole digest and pasted it into SSL Certificate Authority / Intermediate box but I get SSL intermediate chain is not valid

You should do the following:
In the SSL Certificate field:
Paste the contents of the certificate issued to your domain. In windows you can usually verify this by simply double clicking (or opening) the .crt file. A window will pop-up with information about the certificate. Just check under "Issued to:" and make sure its issued to your domain.
In the SSL Key field
Paste the contents of the key that was created during the generation of the csr. It usually begins with -----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY-----
In the SSL Certificate Authority/Intermediate
Paste the contents of the CA bundle certificate you received from your CA. That is the certificate without your domain name under "Issued to:" as explained in step 1.

How to install a ssl sertificate from diffrent server to my server,

I want to create a website in my IIS server, (website already has ssl certificate).
So i created a site, I have the certificate details which contains certificate, private key , CA certificate (all in one text file).
I havent created a csr request for this, But i need to install this certififcate in my system.
When i followed the steps in complete cerififcate request, first it got added, but when i refresh and came back it was gone.
Please help me how to install certififcate from other server, without creating csr request.?

You can do this with just built-in tool certutil.exe which is shipped with every Windows installation.
make sure SSL certificate file and private key file are stored in the same folder and have same name: mycert.cer and mycert.key, for example. Certificate will have .cer file extension, key file will have .key file extension.
run the following command: certutil -mergepfx path\mycert.cer path\mycert.pfx
this command will merge SSL certificate and private key into PFX container. Enter password when prompted.
You need to convert the text file into *.pfx file so that you can import it on IIS
Open the .key via notepad copy the content and save it in a new notepad say abc.txt

Download OpenSSL from here
Ones installed copy the abc.txt and paste it in the bin path of OpenSSL (e.g. C:\OpenSSL\bin)
Open the CMD, change directory to the bin folder of OpenSSL and paste the below command in CMD
openssl pkcs12 -export -in abc.txt -out xyz.pfx
give any password
You can use the xyz.pfx to import on IIS by using the same set of password

Using Comodo SSL with AWS Certificate Chain

This is basically a follow up to this question. After buying a Comodo SSL Certificate, I was also only sent two files in a zip folder - fake_domain.crt and fake_domain.ca-bundle. Most references I have seen say that I should have received 4 files, such as COMODORSADomainValidationSecureServerCA.crt.
To upload my SSL cert onto the AWS load balancer, it requires the Private Key, Public Key Certificate and Certificate Chain, all in PEM format. The private key and cert are simple enough. For the chain, using the answer from the referred question -
cat certfile.crt bundle.ca-bundle >> chain.crt
did not work. AWS responded with the following error:
Error creating certificate
Unable to validate certificate chain. The certificate chain must start with the immediate signing certificate, followed by any intermediaries in order. The index within the chain of the invalid certificate is: 1
Converting both of the files to PEM format and THEN concatenating also failed. This was the command I used and then copied the output into AWS Certificate Chain field:
openssl x509 -inform PEM -in fake_domain.crt; openssl x509 -inform PEM -in fake_domain.ca-bundle
How do I create the Certificate Chain correctly for AWS load balancers?
Certificate Chain is determined by certificate type that you buy. If you buy ssl certificate from Comodo they will send .crt and .key files which are Certificate body and Certificate Private Key.
Certificate Chain is not related with that file. You can take certificate chain file from Comodo for your ssl type. For example, if you buy ositiveSSL / EssentialSSL SHA-256 from Comodo, you need to verify your certificate with certificate chain below:
