Excel VBA runtime error '-2147319767 (80028029)' - vba

Hey all I have a quite weird problem with my VBA code. I use macros to add/remove userform controls programmatically. When I simply add a userform control and after that try to remove it, everything works fine. But as soon as I try to remove userform controls I just created and USED (just like userform.Show) I receive the titled error. After trying again it works ... so first question be like, what the hell is this? And second question would be how can I solve this or do I even need to solve it? Could I just run over this error with some kind of error handling?
I'm not sure what part of my code helps to understand my problem, but I assume the code to remove the userform controls could help:

And just in addition, if I don't user any of the userfoms I can add and remove controls as much as I want, no errors ... thx!

I suspect you are adding controls at design time, but once the userform is loaded you are trying to remove controls at runtime, which is not allowed. When you see the error for the first time and choose [End], you are resetting the VBA environment, which unloads the UserForm. (Other things happen too: all global variables lose their values.) At that point, the userform is no longer loaded, so you can delete controls.
If this is your situation, then you need to make sure the userform is loaded before adding controls. When you do userform.Show for the first time, two things happen: The form is loaded, then it is made visible. You can load it without making it visible with the .Load method. Then you can add your controls. So long as you don't unload the form with the .Unload method (or reset VBA), your controls will persist. .Hide and .Show will change the form's visibility, but won't cause controls added at runtime from being discarded.
On the other hand, if you really want to add controls at design-time so that they persist (and are saved when the workbook is saved), then you need to use .Unload to unload the form before removing controls.

in my case was some kind of corruption in the book. I work with office 365 and it has happened many many times. It crashes and somehow the workbook wont work again, because of this, or any other thing
The only way I found is using my personal computer with an excel version different from office 365 (2019 in my case). Add a blank page or remove one, and save it with a different name.
Check that the size of the new file is sliUsually it solves the issue

How to make checkbox control element reference itself [duplicate]

I have a bunch of TextBox-Button pairs on a form. When the button is clicked I want to insert the value of the text box into a database. The name TextBoxes and Buttons follow a naming standard, for example Value1Tb - Value1Cmd and Value2Tb - Value2Cmd.
My problem is that since I want to do the same for every button I would like the possibility to write a Sub like:

But I cannot find a way to point the Click-event of a Button to a different sub than the standard Name_Click().

If you are OK to use Form Controls rather that ActiveX, as it looks as though you may be at the moment, then Chris' solution seems good.
However if you need ActiveX CommandButtons then you are unable (as the VBA compiler will tell you, "Procedure declaration does not match...") to have parameters in the callback for the click event, and you are unable to raise the event from multiple objects, although you do of course know which button raised the event (since the relationship is 1 CommandButton = 1 Sub).
So... I would go with something like:

It seems that what you want is to get the name of the clicked button. If you are creating buttons like this:
(where 'i' increments in a loop)

I decided to make this an answer because I am doing something similar and I confirmed that it works.
You can store the OLEobjects in a Collection, of arbitrary size, containing Custom Class Objects that include the OLEobjects and associations and the events that you need. Thus you can completely avoid any code stubs.
Create a Custom Class to bind the Button and TextBox pairs.
Declare the Button object WithEvents.
Include your call-back in the exposed button event handler in the Class Module.
Put a Public routine in a Standard Module to initialise a Collection of these Custom Class objects by spanning the Form Controls. You can also use this to Add the controls programmatically as a 'reBuild' option. The Collection can be inside another Class Module with all of the management routines, but it needs to be Instantiated and loaded in a Standard Module.
Put a public routine in a standard module to receive the call-backs with whatever context you need. This can also be in a Worksheet Module if it makes for better encapsulation. You can use late binding to reference the callback or CallByName.
You need to bear in mind that the Module of the Form will recompile every time you add a control, so you have to be careful where you put your code.
My application has the controls directly on the Worksheet Surface, so I can't put the the Collection Class in, or source any initialisation of the Collection from the Worksheet module. This would amount to self modifying code and it grinds excel to a halt.
I dreamed this idea up through bloody-minded idealism (not necessarily a good thing) but, of course, I was not the first one to think of it as you can see here. #Tim Williams explains it in his answer. You can also google VBA Control Array Events to see plenty of similar examples including an excellent article by #SiddharthRout. In line with the VB6 analogy, he uses an Array instead of a Collection to achieve the same result.
I'll try to post some code later. My application is a bit different so it will take a lot of work to trim it down, but the principle is the same.
The other thing to bear in mind is that VBE really struggles with this type of thing so don't worry if it is loading up you processors. After you re-start with VBE off, all will be fine.
I have this same situation, and I just have a click event for every button that is a wrapper to the function I want to call. This also allows you to pass sheet-specific parameters if you need to.

If you have a function called OpenDocumentById(docID as integer), then each control calling the function would have in the event the following:
cmd1's On Click event:

Saving Custom Document Properties in a Loop

I'm trying to save the values of data that have been input into my form. There are a total of about 50 different fields to save across 5 different agents, so I loaded the data into arrays.
I've tried saving the fields in a loop, but it doesn't seem to work in a loop, only if each field has a separate line, which is a lot of code and messy. The Ag1Name, Ag2Name and Ag3Name are the names of my textboxes that the user enters to populate the form.

The data doesn't get saved to the Custom Document Properties when the code is set up in a loop like the above. Since there are so many values to save and all the data is already in arrays, I would much prefer to use a loop rather than write out a separate line of code for all ~50 of the values. It does seem to work when each field is saved in a separate line of code.
I think this would probably get what you want. You don't really need to count the document properties first, only increment with the ones you want to update. Hopefully the only document properties you want contain the name AgentName in it.

As a guest I cannot post a comment here, but the code you gave works OK here.
However, there is a problem with creating legacy custom document properties programmatically, because doing that does not mark the document as "changed". When you close the document, Word does not necessarily save it and you lose the Properties and their values.
However, if you actually open up the Custom Document Property dialog, Word does then mark the document as "changed" and the Properties are saved.
So it is possible that the difference between your two scenarios is not the code, but that in one scenario you have actually opened the dialog box to check the values before closing the document and in the other you have not.
If that is the case, here, I was able to change this behaviour by adding the line
ActiveDocument.Saved = False
after setting the property values.
If you do not actually need the values to be Document Properties, it might be better either to use Document Variables, which are slightly easier to use since you can add them and modify them with exactly the same code, or perhaps by storing them in A Custom XML Part, which is harder work but can be useful if you need to extract the values somewhere where Word is not available.
You can make this even easier by looping the controls on the UserForm, testing whether the control name contains "Ag" and, if it does, create the Custom Document Property with the control's value - all in one step.
For example, the following code sample loops the controls in the UserForm. It tests whether the controls Name starts with "Ag". If it does, the CustomDocumentProperty is added with that control's value.

I feel a little stupid... I just realized that the reason that the code wasn't working was that the variable NumberofAgents was not being calculated correctly elsewhere in my code. I've got it working now. Thanks for your thoughts!

Excel VBA: How to create event handlers for dynamically generated controls within an active userform?

I’m struggling with handling controls that are dynamically added during runtime to a pre-existing, active userform.
The userform is called “SalesInvoices” and initially contains a 10x8 grid of Textbox and ComboBox fields (controls). These have been created within the design mode, along with a few command buttons.
After the userform is launched, the user can add and delete additional rows by clicking the appropriate buttons. The userform remains active throughout, and the original 10x8 grid cannot be removed by the user.
Aesthetically, adding, deleting, moving and resizing the controls and the containing frame all work as intended.
The issue I’m facing is with assigning event handling procedures to the additional controls.
WithEvents doesn’t appear to be useful in this scenario as I require the BeforeUpdate and AfterUpdate events to validate the entries made by the user.
As such, I’ve resorted to programmatically inserting and removing the requisite event handling procedures as and when the user adds/deletes additional rows.
However, whilst my code appears to place the additional procedures accordingly, the event handlers are not triggered by the corresponding controls.
For example, here is a snippet dealing with the addition of a single control, Net_Amount11:

This code creates the additional control in Frame6 of the active UserForm, SalesInvoices, and it inserts the event handling procedure into the code section of that userform.
But, when I update the value in the newly created Net_Amount11 TextBox, the event handler is not triggered nor is the procedure validate_net_amount_SI called. (Note that the userform is active throughout).
No errors are reported by the Editor.
I’m all out of ideas and would be grateful for some assistance. Hopefully I’ve missed something simple.
I did wonder whether this was because the inserted code needs to be compiled before it becomes operable (is this even possible on the fly without affecting the contents of the active userform?). Or perhaps there is some mismatch between the temporary nature of the new TextBox control and the permanent code relating to the userform. I couldn't find a solution either way.

VB.Net equivalent for (CustomizationContext) in VBA

I'm busy with some word automation and have run into an issue whereby a context menu within a document has items in, that I wish to remove.
Once the document is open, through vba I can remove these items by running the following code;

If I execute this code and check the document, all contextMenu sub items that contain the text "smokeball" are removed.
When I try move this code to my VB.NET solution (I have no choice of language, so VB it is), I get errors on the CustomizationContext = ActiveDocument line (this line has to be there for it to affect the current document).
The error I get is CustomizationContext' is not a by reference property.
Does anyone know how to get just that ONE line equivalent for vb.net?

Jules pointed me in the right direction with his sample code.
After lots of playing around I noticed that somewhere in the solution, the [TYPE] of WordApplication was getting changed to a dynamic type of sorts, hence, it couldn't use CustomizationContext.
My solution was this:
I changed this line;
WordApplication.CustomizationContext = WordApplication.ActiveDocument
To this:
CType(WordApplication, Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.Application).CustomizationContext = WordApplication.ActiveDocument
Forcing the types to be correct.
Simple solution but took some time.

Programming VBA in an Outlook form

I created my own Outlook form to use it as standard surface to enter certain orders instead of the normal message form. The creation, editing and sending works perfectly fine and in the next step I want to insert some code via VBA.
My problem is that I can´t access the objects of my form in the VBA editor. E.g. I want to show a message box when a certain checkbox is checked. According code would be:

When I run the code I get the error that the object could not be found. The same goes for every other object, like textboxes or labels etc.
I guess the solution is pretty simple, like putting Item. or sth. like that in front of each object. But so far I wasn't able to find the solution.
I´m using Outlook 2010.
I know this is a year too late but you'll want to do something like this example below. It's kinda a work around but you can get whatever value was selected.

You should be able to get the value, just get a handle on the object you want using the Inspector

controls. This is a natural choice for buttons but not optimal for
controls like the combo box. You write the code by inserting it into a
form’s VBScript editor. You need to have the Outlook form open in the
Form Designer and click the View Code button found in the Form group

The code page is fairly minimal with no syntax highlighting. I just tried this now and it does work. Dont forget to Publish your form to pick up the new changes.
I know this is almost 6 years late but, in VB and VBA, simply start with the form name. (And if that doesn't work, just keep going up a parent object and you'll get there.) So, your code becomes:

Of course, after typing "MYFORMNAME." you'll know if it will work because typomatic will kick in when the system recognizes "MYFORMNAME" after you hit the period.
