Trying to find where Acrobat 9.x setPersistent stores variables - acrobat

According the horrifically documented API for Javascript for Acrobat API reference (V.9.1), setPersistent stores persistent variables as follows
Upon application exit, persistent global variables are stored in the
glob.js file located in the user’s folder for folder-level scripts and
re-loaded at application start
I can not find that file on my mac - hidden or otherwise.
Anyone know a) where the glob.js file is located or b) where adobe actually does store persistent variables

You may find the user’s folder for folder level scripts by executing app.getPath(“user”, “javascript”) (p. 42, Adobe, 2006). The method app.getPath may only be executed during batch or console event (p. 124, Adobe, 2007).

Universal MS Word plug-in for Windows and Mac

I am looking for the way to implement MS Word plug-in for Mac and Windows. The plug-in should work with all versions of Microsoft Office (Microsoft Office 2003, Microsoft Office 2007, Microsoft Office 2010, Microsoft Office 2013, Microsoft Office 2016) and should work on Windows XP - Windows 10. It should work on MS Word on Mac also (at least on the latest versions).
It seems to be impossible to create one app for all of this OS and versions.
Description of the plug-in: The plug-in should help user to find the definition of any word (the definition will be in the beginning of this file or in the other file on the user's local disk). For example, user place mouse over word "math", a plug-in shows pop-up with definition "Mathematics (from Greek μάθημα máthēma, “knowledge, study, learning”) is the study of topics such as quantity (numbers), structure, space and change".
I am thinking about some variants of implementation.
First variant. I can make plug-in with help of WinForms and Microsoft.Office.Interopt for all Windows OS and versions of MS Office. I can create add-ins for Word on Mac with help of JavaScript. (Add-ins on JavaScript don't work on Microsoft Office versions < 2013).
Second variant. I can create plug-in with help of VBA for both platform and for all versions.
Are these variants possible? What the best way to create plug-in for Windows and Mac?
First variant. I can make plug-in with help of WinForms and Microsoft.Office ...
This, sound to me, way you should go if you would like to support older Office products (2010 and older). You would create VBA or COM/VSTO version for older versions on Windows. For older versions of Mac (ex:Entourage) you should consider AppleScript scripting extendability. Office Add-in (JS API) for newer versions on Windows and Mac together.
Second variant. I can create plug-in with help of VBA for both platform and for all versions.
No such thing as VBA add-on for Mac. You may efficiently use AppleScript for scripting certain actions in older Office for Mac.
This is all about your requirements. At the end you will make your decision. I would go with Office JS API as the start and later on see if you have strong demand of your app for older versions of Office.
Yes it is possible, but refine your requirement.
Go for Apps for Office (Windows + Mac) and not Com Add-ins (Only in Windows).

Word 2016 vba add-in for Mac

I have an created an add-in for Word which communicates with a third party cmd-program via an api I have written in c# using visual studio. The communication takes place using stdin and stdout.
The program works for word 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016 for Windows.
I have also successfully ported it to Word 2011 for Mac. The api here is written in c using xcode, but still using stdin and stdout. The api on mac is a dylib, which I can reference in the visual basic editor.
I'm having trouble replicating this on the 2016 version of Office for Mac.
I'm suspecting it might not be possible, due to new security restrictions.
When I try to reference a file I can only choose .tlb files (type libraries). I have only created tlb files using visual studio on Windows and have no idea how you might do that on a mac.
Can anyone answer if what I'm trying to do is even possible on the 2016 version of Office for Mac, and where I might find documentation on how to create files that can be referenced?
FYI: The add-in is called WordMat: www.eduap.com
Additional info following information from #erik below
I'm having trouble declaring the functions in my lib. Here is my declare statement:
Declare PtrSafe Function VBstrlen Lib "/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office365/User Content.localized/Add-Ins.localized/libMaximaConnection.dylib" (ByVal s As String) As LongPtr
The function is a simple test function which returns the length of a string. The declare function works as expected in Word 2011 using the above path.
The error reported is error 53 file cannot be located
The dylib is 32-bit compiled, hence I would not expect it to work since the 64-bit upgrade of Office 2016, but I would expect an error 453 DLL cannot be located as Word 2011 would report.
Office 2016 is sandboxed, with limited entitlements to read files that live in specific places. I wrote this document on installing user content for Mac Office 2016 that you can start with: http://macadmins.software/docs/UserContentIn2016.pdf
Specifically, dylibs must be located in ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content.localized/Add-Ins.localized/ if they are installed for each specific user, or in /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office365/User Content.localized/Add-Ins.localized/ if they are installed once on the machine for all users to share.
Office 2016 apps cannot read arbitrary file locations anymore.
Separately, the inability to choose any non-typelib file when you try to add file references may be a bug. I'll have to take a look.

Are Adobe AIR applications supported on Surface Pro 3?

I haven't been able to find a definite answer to whether Adobe AIR applications are supported on Microsoft Surface Pro 3? Miscellaneous links have suggested that you can install Adobe AIR but not sure if that implies that Adobe AIR applications can run on Surface Pro3.
Surface Pro 3 runs Windows 8 / 10, so any Adobe Air application will work.
The older Surface devices that run Windows RT wont run Air applications.

PowerBuilder compatibility on Windows 7

I'm having problems migrating a PowerBuilder application from XP to Windows 7.
We've built the application in PowerBuilder on Windows XP, and when we attempt to install components in to component services on Windows 7 machines, we get compatibility errors. Everything works great on Windows XP. But I think because the DLL's on 7 are so different, it's having problems.
If the program was built using a PowerBuilder IDE in a Windows 7 environment, would that possibly fix the problem?
The application is divided into
- a server component running on Server 2003
- a client component which installs sucessfully on Win7
- proxy components that are generated into an MSI when the server components are installed.
The problem is only the proxy. The MSI doesn't want to work on Windows 7.
Without the proxy installed on the client desktops, the client can't communicate with the server.
When I run the MSI in compatibility mode on Windows 7, I get some details of the error. Here they are

General idea
Actually dll on the win7 platform are not different from previous ones. There can be differences related to the multiple and different C runtimes that live now in the WinSxS dll-hell directories but this should not impact powerbuilder (as I can say from my 11.5 classic release experience).
I suspect that you might have some problems related to the UAC and or ACL management. I recently upgraded some legacy PB applications by adding compatibility to the Vista / Win7 specifications.
In short : the application must run without needing administrative privileges, and must not try to modify data in privileged places like c:\ or c:\windows.
Thus everything must no more be installed in program files directory. The application binaries can be deployed in program files but if the application need to create / modify some files they must be deployed in a ProgramData subdirectory for user-shared datad and / or in the local user data files for the private data. The application has to be modified to create or find the files in the correct directories. If you do not comply to the standard, the file virtualization mechanism can hide a lack of rights and can simulate the files in a VirtualStore directory in the user local data but is just a workaround and it provides some other problems.
Com+ error
Given you error messages, if the proxy is also a PB application, given the fact that PB only produce 32bits binaries and that your system is a 64bits one, maybe that the tips to register a 32b COM+ onto a Win2008 could help you?
Thought, your proxy exe/dll file does not have manifest or manifest does not contains compatibility section. Try to add compatibility info to manifest.

Windows Embedded CE 6,0 Installation

I need to install the Windows Embedded CE 6.0 package that works with Visual Studio 2005 because I need to upgrade an old driver that runs under CE 6.0. I understand that Microsoft does not support this CE package any longer and, in fact, they no longer provide the installation files for CE 6.0
Where can I get the Windows Embedded CE 6.0 installation files??? They can be in an ISO file or whatever format is available.
I'm not sure if I understood your question right. By package you mean BSP (Board Support Package)?
If you are new to CE, you will need a brief explanation before get started.
The Windows CE 6.0 itself doesn't have exactly installation files. The runtime system is built through a toolkit called Platform Builder. As "input" for platform builder, you select which components your runtime image will have (including drivers) and as "output" is created a binary image of your system. You may transfer your runtime image to the device with a few different methods.
Regarding drivers, they usually are distributed through BSPs. BSPs are built by the device maker so you could check the device manufacturer site for BSPs, but you can give a try first on the supported packages search (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsembedded/en-us/downloads/board-support-packages-for-windows-embedded.aspx).
You can get the Platform Builder Toolkit with a Microsoft Authorized Embedded Distributor or through a MSDN subscription (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsembedded/en-us/evaluate/how-to-buy-windows-embedded-compact-7.aspx). The Platform Builder for CE6 comes with a copy of VS2005.
Windows CE6 is currently at R3 (released in 2009) and it is supported (mainstream support) at least until 2014 (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsembedded/en-us/evaluate/windows-embedded-roadmap.aspx).
I strongly recommend you to take a look at least on http://www.microsoft.com/windowsembedded/en-us/develop/windows-embedded-ce-6-for-developers-overview.aspx. I'm not much experienced with CE6 (few months) but my personal experience says that it's a long path to code drivers for CE.
