Change variable in EXE or DLL - dll

I have a problem with a program which starts with one variable set to true by default. I need change this variable to false (so the program will start with this variable set to false). It is one EXE file with one DLL. Could you help me?
I have already tried: IDA, W32DASM but it is not successful to disassembly. Is it even possible?
Thank you all

In VS2022 when debugging: Unable to set the next statement. Class not registered

I am debugging a .NET C# solution in VS2022. Whenever I attempt to set the next statement I get the error message
Unable to set the next statement. Class not registered.
I am also not able to hot-reload either when I make a change. If I make the slightest change (even just adding some whitespace) and the click on the hot reload button I get the message
This source file has changed. It no longer matches the version of the
file used to build the application being debugged.
I appreciate that the second statement is more common but I thought the point of hot-reload was that it recognised that the file had changed and would reload it!
I have found links for the first message but never in combination with the class not being registered.

Teamcity: Update env variable from pop up

I am trying to update an environmental variable in team city through a build's plan pop up (when you press run it pops up a window to set some var).
So far i the given value remain only for the specific build and then it discards.
Does anyone has any idea?
thank you
Yes, that is the intended functionality: when using that popup, you are only modifying the parameter for that one run. For a permanent change, you need to open the project settings instead and go to the Parameters page.

Breakpoint jumps to another function/class in VB.NET (VS2008)

I'm trying to debug my code (VB.NET) and I place my breakpoint on a line of code.
I attach to my TEST server and when the debug symbols load, the breakpoint line disappears from where I put it, and relocated it to a totally other line, in another function in another class.
I tried rebuilding the solution, rebuilding a clean solution. I even closed VS2008, and even rebooted my machine.
Has anyone come across this before and what can I do to get this to bebug where I put my breakpoints?
Many thanks in advance for any help.
Sean
Have you deployed the PDB file to the server and is it up-to-date?
Try using F12 on your function calls and see where they are coming from and setting break points there, then steping through the functions to get where you need to be at.

NetBeans debugging variable values

I am debugging in NetBeans IDE, where can I see assigned variables and their values?
While you're in the debugger go Window -> Debugger -> Variables
You can also use ALT+SHIFT+1 to bring up variable viewer.
Generally, the pane underneath the code has some tabs - and one of them will say 'Variables'. Click on that tab and you will see variables and their values. You need to be actually running a debug session before the variables tab is available.
For this to show all local variables you need to have the line:
xdebug.show_local_vars=1
in your xdebug.ini file. Don't forget to restart Apache if you add that line.
If you are not seeing all local variables then you may have hit the problem where your version of the module file (xdebug.so) has a bug. This is the case currently for Ubuntu 10.04.
To fix this you need to compile a newer version of the xdebug.so file. Follow the instructions at http://xdebug.org/wizard.php to get your new file which should replace your current xdebug.so file.
There exists another solution that is
Press Ctrl+F9 to display Evaluate Expression Panel/Tab
Enter variable name in Evaluate Expression Panel/Tab
Press Ctrl+Enter (or arrow icon at right of Evaluate Expression Panel/Tab
The variable's value is then displayed in Variables Panel just below (on my PC) Evaluate Expression Panel/Tab.
You can also use this solution to display EXPRESSION and not only VARIABLE !
Example: (String sSheetData is a String variable that contains a very big string)
sSheetData.substring(4000,4200);
StringTools.Right(sSheetData,100);
StringTools.Mid(sSheetData,4000,200);
This is also possible using New Watch callable using contextual menu.
But this is not as easy as using Immediate Windows on Microsoft Visual Studio :-)

View variable data while debugging in Objective-C

I come from a .Net world so I'm used to just hovering over a variable while debugging and seeing what its value is.
In Objective-C I am incredibly confused on how to do that.
If I hover over it, I get a small popup with lots of information...that doesn't help me at all.
For example, I have an object called "myServer" and it is an instance of a "Server" that I have created through CoreData. One of its properties is "root" which is a simple NSString.
I cannot for the LIFE of me figure out how to view what the value of [myServer root] is.
Can some please give me some advice on this?
In the gdb console, type
po [myServer root]
I like to use GDB from the command line. Open a terminal and type
gdb
attach <your process name>
(be sure your program was built with debugging symbols). Then, when your variable name is in scope (e.g. when you break somewhere relevant) type
po variableName
to view its contents.
Another nice way to deal with this is to log directly from a breakpoint.
To do this, create a breakpoint after the value you want to see has been set, then edit it. Add a breakpoint action of 'log', and put the expression you want logged within a pair of # symbols. Check the box to the right, ensuring that the breakpoint doesn't actually cause a stop. The value will be output to the debugger console on doing a run & debug.
Doing it this way you (a) don't clutter your source, (b) can dis/enable the breakpoint at will according to your immediate needs, and (c) don't need to stop execution.
This and other very handy xcode tips can be culled from Joar Wingfors' 'Debugging with Xcode' talk.
