There is a "%{nas-name}" variable to get the current nas name and use into dialup.conf freeradius? - variables

I am working with freeradius, I could install and configure it on linux server and I can receive request from remote devices but I need to make a change to the query that inserts into radacct table to save the name of the nas (for usage reports) but I can´t find something about it, this is really simple, I just need to know what variable to use, for example I know that I can use %{User-Name} variable to get the name of the user that is connecting to freeradius, I need a similar variable to get the nas name, that´s all.
I hope it exists and you can tell what it is.
Thanks in advance, have a nice day.

That's be %{%{NAS-Identifier}:-%{client:shortname}}

query SCCM apps

Is there any table in the SCCM database that returns all applications located in a subfolder ?
This table returns all application and packages: "v_Package"
but i need to filter only applications and only the ones in a specific subfolder.
i also found the table "v_Applications" in my SQL server that returns only the applications but it is not present in the microsoft docs:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/develop/core/understand/sqlviews/application-management-views-configuration-manager
is that normal ?
Could someone point me in the right direction ?
Thank you very much
The best "trick" if you want to do something that is possible in the SCCM Console via SQL is to do it and then watch SMSProv.log on your siteserver which will tell you what SQL and WQL command was used to produce your result. That is always a good point towards the direction you should take.
In this case you will see that the query takes the applications info from a function call fn_ListApplicationCIs_List(1031) which features a Column ObjectPath that is your folder so a quick
select DisplayName, ObjectPath from fn_ListApplicationCIs_List(1031)
should probably give you what you want.
The real info if you wanna go deeper is as far as I understand it in a view called vFolderMembers (which weirdly only contains those that are not in root) but going from there you would have to join some internal IDs to get to a readable name.
To also answer your other question: Yes v_Applications is a normal table but it does not contain the object Path (which is only relevant within the context of the console and not deployment) and yes it is (sadly) normal that Microsofts documentation is not always the best and never really complete in regards to SCCM matters.
wow that's great.
what a relief. i've been struggling with that for a while .
thank you so much for your help. it works exacly as i need.

Possibilities of Datazen server migration

I know that similar topics have been already raised, but maybe there are some latest news or ideas?
I want to migrate Datazen users/sources/dashboards etc. to another server (production one) in a smooth way. I was trying to do that via backup/restore, but then I couldn't access the control panel on the target server. I received an error
401 unauthorized access.
Maybe I should change something in logs/config files on the destination server?
Any ideas? I would be grateful for any help!
I dont think there is a way to do this out of the box. However, the files are quite simple XML, so can be pointed at a different server if you know PowerShell (and work out the correct values from the server).
You will have to re-point the GUID, ServerGUID and ServerURI within the sources.xml file and then rezip (as .datazen). Providing you have your hubs set up the same, Datazen will then believe the file belongs to your prod environment and you will be able to publish

Creating listeners with SQL Server AlwaysOn suddenly stopped working

Problem: I created 10 AlwaysOn Availability Groups with SQL Server without a problem. Suddenly, it stopped worked and I kept getting this ONLY on the "create the listener" part:
Msg 19471, Level 16, State 0, Line 9
The WSFC cluster could not bring the Network Name resource with DNS name 'L_MyListener' online. The DNS name may have been taken or have a conflict with existing name services, or the WSFC cluster service may not be running or may be inaccessible. Use a different DNS name to resolve name conflicts, or check the WSFC cluster log for more information.
Sometimes I also got Msg 19476. This was all maddening because one moment I was creating listeners and availability groups, feeling like a guru, and then everything stopped and I lost hours of time.
So how do you solve this? Of course, Microsoft's own suggested text in the above error description was NOT helpful.
Apparently, each listener is really creating a mini "computer" in Active Directory if you look. And... here's the kicker, a domain user can only join a computer to a domain a limited number of times and that default is 10. Who would have thought that adding listeners equates with joining users to a domain!???! Microsoft really should have made this listener thing more intuitive, at least in their description text of possible problems.
Well, on your Domain Controller, open ADSI Edit, configure it the first time to look at your default naming context of your domain, like "DC=yourname..." with the CN= rows below that. Now, right click on the "DC=" line, choose Properties and navigate down to ms-DS-MachineAccountQuota and increase the limit from 10 to something else like 100.
You may need to run "GPUPDATE /FORCE" on the SQL Servers where you want to try again to add the listener. You may also have to clean up the mess it left (i.e. delete and restore the bad attempt at setting up your group and listener) before you try again.
With SQL Server 2016 supposedly going to require each database be in its own group, with its own listener, people will hit this limit of 10 quite easily!
I hope this helps you. If so, please mark this as the answer on the left. Of course, there are other reasons why people may get this error, as in the Microsoft error now but this whole post is for people who had it working just fine and then suddenly it stopped.

MS Access Split Database - Run time error with backend in new drive location?

I have an MS Access split database and I'm trying to get it to work with the backend on a new, more secure drive on our network. I've used a UNC path for the backend location.
This database has been running without problem on another drive which is totally public to everyone in the company (~4k people, not secure) for about a year. We have a generic account for users to access the database throughout our factory and haven't encountered this problem before I tried to switch it to the new drive. I've contacted our IT department and they've given myself and all my user's accounts read/write access to the drive, but only I can run it.
Other user accounts get these problems...
All of my forms with objects bound to a table immediately throw a runtime error before even getting to Form_Load.
My userforms will run DLookup functions and execute message boxes but throw a runtime error when they go to execute a query.
I've tried using an 'On Error goto' to try and actually find the problem but it throws a runtime error before that.
I can't think at all what the problem might be. IT have told me I have the same permissions as the other users. Any suggestions on what to do?
In the front end of your DB you may have to change the path which links to the tables. The tables are in the back end of the database, which you have now moved and therefore changed the filepath. the frontend wont find them. You can delete the table links in the front end then use External data > import and Link > Access. In order to re-link the tables using their new filepath. You would then need to redistribute your frontend to the users.
I'm not sure if you have already done this, however, you haven't suggested so in your question. hope this helps, apologies if it was helpless.
I hope you have found an answer to this. I wanted to answer as well, because I had the exact same problem yesterday. It turned out that the location was referring other users back to the folder's shortcut name versus it's full length name (it is called the W drive on my computer and the K drive on theirs). I solved the issue by spelling out the name in full.

Can I use an API such as chef to automatically create, name and set passwords to multiple servers?

I am new to this so forgive me for not understanding the lingo.
I have been using rackspace cloud control panel to build multiple virtual servers, i use them for maybe a couple of hours then i delete them. I need these servers to all have specific and unique names such as: "server1, server2, server3, etc." I also need them to have a specific password unlike the randomly generated password that is assigned by default.
I have been creating each individual server manually (based on an image that's set up) then I have to go back and reset the password andreboot all of them. Doing each one manually is a bit time consuming and I'm sure there is an easier way. Please help me figure this out.
I've been doing some searching but I haven't found anything too relevant to my problem on top of that I'm not too familiar with programming and such.
Basically what I'm looking to do is automatically create these servers with their appropriate names and passwords already built in from the start. I'm not sure if some sort of "API" is the answer, or if there's some sort of script that can be written, or both.
Any assistance is much appreciated.
thanks,
Chris
