Invalid object name when creating stored procedure - sql

I am trying to create a stored procedure on SQL Server 2008. Whenever I try to execute the procedure I get an Invalid object name error on the #EDPTS table. Can someone please take a look at the below code to let me know what might be creating the issue? Thank you in advance

GO is causing the problem. It is ending the batch containing the CREATE PROCEDURE. Here's what is happening simplified.
IF OBJECT_ID('Test1') IS NOT NULL
DROP PROCEDURE test1
GO -- End batch
CREATE PROCEDURE Test1
AS
IF Object_id('tempdb.dbo.#temp') IS NOT NULL
DROP TABLE #temp
SELECT 1 AS test

GO -- Ends the CREATE PROCEDURE batch
SELECT *

Understanding a SQL Statement

I'm trying to modify a stored procedure on a Microsoft SQL server that is used to get data for a SSRS table. It currently filters by a few parameters, one of them "Analyst" but I would like for the query to return the analyst as well to the report so if you leave the parameter empty it would you could still see what analyst was assigned the ticket
This is the code used to find the analyst info, how can I edit it to allow me to return the Analyst display name as well?
LEFT OUTER JOIN(
SELECT
Analyst.UserName AS AnalystASURITE,
Analyst.DisplayName AS DisplayName,
Analyst.UserDimKey,
WIATUFact.WorkItemDimKey
FROM
dbo.UserDim Analyst
JOIN
dbo.WorkItemAssignedToUserFactvw WIATUFact
ON Analyst.UserDimKey = WIATUFact.WorkItemAssignedToUser_UserDimKey
WHERE WIATUFact.DeletedDate IS NULL -- We only need the information for the last analyst assigned.
GROUP BY WIATUFact.WorkItemDimKey, Analyst.UserName, Analyst.DisplayName, Analyst.UserDimKey, WIATUFact.CreatedDate
) AssignedAnalystInfo
ON AssignedAnalystInfo.WorkItemDimKey = WI.WorkItemDimKey
I added
Analyst = AssignedAnalystInfo.DisplayName,
to the top of my procedure and it was correct syntax but got this error
Column 'AssignedAnalystInfo.DisplayName' is invalid in the select list because it is not contained in either an aggregate function or the GROUP BY clause.
I can add the whole procedure if that is needed but it's pretty long.

END;
And this
CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[TestPackageProgress]
AS
BEGIN
SELECT PackageId,
packagenumber,
count(*) as [Total],
sum(case [WeldStatus] when 'Accept' then 1 end) as Accept,
sum(case [WeldStatus] when 'accept' then 0 else 1 end) as Remain,
ROUND(CONVERT(float,sum(case [WeldStatus] when 'Accept' then 1 end))/CONVERT(float,count(*)) * 100,2) as PercentProgress
FROM [SPMS2].[dbo].[JointHistory]
WHERE PackageId is not null
GROUP BY PackageId,PackageNumber;
END;
Can I make a join between these two stored procedure's result sets on first.id = second.packageid?
You can put result sets from both SP into temp tables and then join them:
CREATE TABLE #PackageAccept (
Id INT,
PackageNumber INT,
Size INT,
Code NVARCHAR(100),
TestPackageOrder INT
--etc
--Here you add all columns from SP output with there datatypes
)
Then you can:
INSERT INTO #PackageAccept
EXEC [dbo].[TestPackageAccept]
The same way for second SP, then join:
SELECT *
FROM #PackageAccept pa
INNER JOIN #PackageProgress pp
ON pa.id = pp.packageid
Don't forget to DROP temp tables:
DROP TABLE #PackageAccept
DROP TABLE #PackageProgress
The full batch will be like:
IF OBJECT_ID(N'#PackageAccept') IS NOT NULL
BEGIN
DROP TABLE #PackageAccept
END
ELSE
BEGIN
CREATE TABLE #PackageAccept (
Id INT,
PackageNumber INT,
Size INT,
Code NVARCHAR(100),
TestPackageOrder INT
--etc
)
END
IF OBJECT_ID(N'#PackageProgress') IS NOT NULL
BEGIN
DROP TABLE #PackageProgress
END
ELSE
BEGIN
CREATE TABLE #P (
PackageId INT,
packagenumber INT,
[Total] INT,
Accept INT,
Remain INT
--etc
)
END
INSERT INTO #PackageAccept
EXEC [dbo].[TestPackageAccept]
INSERT INTO #PackageProgress
EXEC [dbo].[TestPackageProgress]
SELECT *
FROM #PackageAccept pa
INNER JOIN #PackageProgress pp
ON pa.id = pp.packageid

error in IF ELSE statement in SQL [duplicate]

This question already has an answer here:
Drop temp table within IF ELSE statement

Closed 7 years ago.
I have the following stored procedure, But seems like the #Temp table is creating troubles in it. I get following error
There is already an object named '#Temp' in the database.
I guess somethings wrong with my IF ELSE
Here is the stored procedure:

and (C.Status = #status)
order by T.TransactionDate, MerchantName1, T.BatchNumber, T.SequenceNumber
End
drop table #Temp
You cannot have two statements in the same procedure that creates a temp table with the same name. This is a leftover from SQL 6.5 which did not have deferred name resolution.
And in any case, it only makes sense if the tables are created exactly the same, else your procedure will behave very funky.
So instead of using SELECT INTO, use CREATE TABLE + INSERT.
UPDATE
According to the selected way from comment:
Second option: First create temp table and insert
First let's create the temp table. For that you should modify your procedure like:
create procedure spGetHOSalesReport
#DateFrom datetime,#DateTo datetime,#EmbossLine varchar(20),#CountryID int,#status char(2)
AS
BEGIN -- begin procedure
SET #DateTo = #DateTo +1
if object_id('tempdb..#Temp') is not null drop table #Temp
create table #Temp
( TransactionID int
, BatchNumber ... ( your type of field )
, SequenceNumber ...
, TransactionDate ...
, TerminalID int
, TotalAmount ...
, TransactionTypeID int
, TransactionType ...
, EmbossLine ...
, PreBalanceAmount ...
, PostBalanceAmount ...
, RefTxnID int
, SettlementDate ...
, PaidCash ...
, CreditAmount ...
, DiscountAmount ...
, RefPAN ...
, Remarks ...
, SupervisorCard ...
, StoreID int
)
if(#status = 'E1')
.......
I do not know which data type has these fields, so, you have to do yourself. Then edit insert into temp table in first case and similar in another case:
insert into #Temp
Select PT.[ID] 'TransactionID', PT.BatchNumber, PT.SequenceNumber, PT.TransactionDate,
PT.TerminalID, PT.TotalAmount, PT.TransactionTypeID, TT.TransactionType,PT.PAN 'EmbossLine',PT.PreBalanceAmount, PT.PostBalanceAmount, RefTxnID, SettlementDate,PaidCash, CreditAmount, DiscountAmount,
RefPAN, PT.Remarks, ' ' + CashierCard as 'SupervisorCard',St.StoreID
from TempPOS_Transactions PT inner join TransactionType TT on TT.TransactionTypeID = PT.TransactionTypeID
inner join Staff St on St.CardNumber=PT.CashierCard
where ...
In the end of procedure you can add:
End -- end of your if
if object_id('tempdb..#Temp') is not null drop table #Temp
END -- end of procedure
But the simplest way is create two different temp tables:
if(#status = 'E1')
begin
if object_id('tempdb..#Temp1') is not null drop table #Temp1
Select PT.[ID] 'TransactionID', PT.BatchNumber, ...
into #Temp1
from TempPOS_Transactions PT
inner join TransactionType TT on TT.TransactionTypeID = PT.TransactionTypeID
.....
end
else
begin
if object_id('tempdb..#Temp2') is not null drop table #Temp2
Select PT.[ID] 'TransactionID', PT.BatchNumber, ...
into #Temp2
from POS_Transactions PT
inner join TransactionType TT on TT.TransactionTypeID = PT.TransactionTypeID
....
end
Also, you can write just two select without creating temp table in this case

I have tried with #temp table and table variable but it is not even showing any result set. But the same query executed in 2 secs now it is taking lot of time. I have tried UPDATE Statstics on this tables and I have checked with locking also. What I need to do I have followed every other peformance optimized techinique.
Try:
Declare
#FDate Date = '01/01/2014',
#TDate Date= '27/05/2015',
#SERVICE_ID CHAR(5) = '123'
;WITH RUID
AS
(
SELECT OFFICEID,
OFFICE_TITTLE,
MAIN_OFFICE_TITTLE,
RLB_NAME,
DIST_NAME,
D.district_description
FROM APSDC..DISTRICT D
INNER JOIN cdma..Unified_RUID_WARD_MSTR I
ON D.CDMA_DistrictID = I.DIST_NAME
WHERE RLB_NAME in(3) AND I.STATEID ='01'
),
AppDetails
AS
(
SELECT ApplicationNumber,
CASE WHEN Data_Available='Y' AND DataTampered = 'N'
THEN 1
ELSE 0
END CategoryA
FROM Unified_BirthDeathAppDetails I
WHERE I.CreateDate >= #FDate AND I.CreatedDate < #TDate AND
NOT EXISTS
( select application_number
FROM reversal_details
WHERE I.Service_Type= '01' AND
ApplicationNumber <> i.ApplicationNumber AND
service_id= #Service_iD
)
)
SELECT C.MAIN_OFFICE_TITTLE AS OFFICE_TITTLE
,C.officeid, C.DIST_NAME AS DistrictName
, C.district_description
,ISNULL(count(I.ApplicationNumber),0) Total_Trans
,isnull(sum(CategoryA),0) CategoryA
FROM RUID c
LEFT JOIN AppDetails I
ON C.OFFICE_TITTLE=I.RUID AND C.DIST_NAME=I.DistrictName
GROUP BY C.MAIN_OFFICE_TITTLE
,C.officeid
,C.DIST_NAME
,C.district_description
ORDER BU C.district_description
,C.MAIN_OFFICE_TITTLE
Make sure you have decent indexes on RLB_name, StateId, CDMA_DistrictId, Dist_Name, CreatedDate etc.

SQL Server Update trigger for bulk updates

Below is a SQL Server 2005 update trigger. For every update on the email_subscriberList table where the isActive flag changes we insert an audit record into the email_Events table. This works fine for single updates but for bulk updates only the last updated row is recorded. How do I convert the below code to perform an insert for every row updated?
CREATE TRIGGER [dbo].[Email_SubscriberList_UpdateEmailEventsForUpdate_TRG]
ON [dbo].[Email_subscriberList]
FOR UPDATE
AS
DECLARE #CustomerId int
DECLARE #internalId int
DECLARE #oldIsActive bit
DECLARE #newIsActive bit
DECLARE #email_address varchar(255)
DECLARE #mailinglist_name varchar(255)
DECLARE #email_event_type varchar(1)
SELECT #oldIsActive = isActive from Deleted
SELECT #newIsActive = isActive from Inserted
IF #oldIsActive <> #newIsActive
BEGIN
IF #newIsActive = 1
BEGIN
SELECT #email_event_type = 'S'
END
ELSE
BEGIN
SELECT #email_event_type = 'U'
END
SELECT #CustomerId = customerid from Inserted
SELECT #internalId = internalId from Inserted
SELECT #email_address = (select email from customer where customerid = #CustomerId)
SELECT #mailinglist_name = (select listDescription from Email_lists where internalId = #internalId)
INSERT INTO Email_Events
(mailshot_id, date, email_address, email_event_type, mailinglist_name)
VALUES
(#internalId, getDate(), #email_address, #email_event_type,#mailinglist_name)
END
example
untested
CREATE TRIGGER [dbo].[Email_SubscriberList_UpdateEmailEventsForUpdate_TRG]
ON [dbo].[Email_subscriberList]
FOR UPDATE
AS
INSERT INTO Email_Events
(mailshot_id, date, email_address, email_event_type, mailinglist_name)
SELECT i.internalId,getDate(),c.email,
case i.isActive when 1 then 'S' else 'U' end,e.listDescription
from Inserted i
join deleted d on i.customerid = d.customerid
and i.isActive <> d.isActive
join customer c on i.customerid = c.customerid
join Email_lists e on e.internalId = i.internalId
Left outer joins, for in case there are no related entries in customer or email_Lists (as is possible in the current code) -- make them inner joins if you know there will be data present (i.e. foreign keys are in place).
CREATE TRIGGER [dbo].[Email_SubscriberList_UpdateEmailEventsForUpdate_TRG]
ON [dbo].[Email_subscriberList]
FOR UPDATE
AS
INSERT INTO Email_Events
(mailshot_id, date, email_address, email_event_type, mailinglist_name)
select
i.InternalId
,getdate()
,cu.Email
,case i.IsaActive
when 1 then 'S'
else 'U'
end
,el.ListDescription
from inserted i
inner join deleted d
on i.CustomerId = d.CustomerId
and i.IsActive <> d.IsActive
left outer join Customer cu
on cu.CustomerId = i.CustomerId
left outer join Email_Lists el
on el.InternalId = i.InternalId
Test it well, especially for concurrency issues. Those joins within the trigger make me nervous.
