Is there a way to get the number of busy slots on a selenium hub?
I only know the hub console url (/grid/console), there I can parse the html code ... but this is quite ugly, and quite slow if there are many slots.
Maybe somebody knows a better way?

This is an old question but perhaps this solution help others.
You can extend org.openqa.grid.web.servlet.RegistryBasedServlet, inject it to the hub and get information via http/json

What I researched so far, the Selenium API is not providing a method to get the hub information from the client side. It is pretty ugly to parse the source code but that is working for me. Other people mentioned to make some changes to the selenium hub jar file but that won't be scalable and it will be needed with each selenium version. (Firefox versions and Selenium versions are all the time changing... I wouldn't recommend you to do that)
If you are using Java, you can try to use Json simple to parse the string and get easily the browsers.

I'm trying create a generic Java Agent to instrument any Java application's methods.
I've followed this tutorial https://javapapers.com/core-java/java-instrumentation/ and created a java agent.
The java agent is supposed to look for a particular class ( I'm restricting it to one class now since it's not working for me)
Once the class is found, I'm using JavaAssist API to add a local variable to the beginning of each method and capture the current time. In the end of the method I'd like to simply print the time it took for the method to execute. (Pretty much following all the typical examples about Java agent.
I run my test application ( a web server using Vert.x ) with --javaagent flag pointing to the Java agent jar file I created ( the code is down below).
This works just fine for methods that either don't have return value and no parameters or return/take a primitive type.
However when a method is returning or taking a parameter that is an object from a another class (that has not been loaded yet I think) I get a CannotCompileException exception with the message that that class which is in the parameters list or in the return statement is not found.
For example the instrumentation for this method works:

When I am submitting the challenge answer I am getting NullPointerException in following line:
HttpUriRequest httpUriRequest = adaptersAPI.createJavascriptAdapterRequest("LoginAndWeeklyCertAdapter1", "login");
because adaptersAPI is null. Do I have to do any extra configuration in order to make that work? How can I initialize AdaptersAPI object?
Note: The login method and the security check both are in same adapter.
Update
I investigated more of time into it and updated the code to given above and observed the following:
1. When validateCredentials() is getting called after submitting the challenge response then I am getting null value in AdapterAPI object.
2. Where as, when I am calling the getResourceData() using the mobilefirst swagger tool then I am getting an object of AdapterAPI.
We cannot inject the adapters API into a security check object(by design - not a bug). The only way we can go is to extract the logic from Adapter into a Java code, without using adapters API.

Explanations:
In order to represent a Java source file in memory instead of disk, I defined a StringInputBuffer class in the MemoryJavaFileManager.java.
To save the compiled .class files in memory, I implemented a class MemoryJavaFileManager. The main idea is to override the function getJavaFileForOutput() to store bytecodes into a map.
To load the bytecodes in memory, I have to implement a customized classloader MemoryClassLoader, which reads bytecodes in the map and turn them into classes.

I would like to implement push notifications for my website (obviously only in compatible browser as Safari 7).
I have read the Apple documentation and I have successfully created my package containing my icon.iconset, my certificate.p12, manifest.json and a website.json.
Now I would like to ask the permission to the user when I first visit the website. If he allows it, I should send the package.
Everything is pretty clear but I don't know how to go on.
How do I create my push package out of my files? How do I precisely sign it? The package should be always the same so I could sign it on my mac and upload to my server only one package.

I would like to have the IE with the same session but this code opens always a new instance of IE. How I get this work?
I don't think it is possible to attach driver to an existing session.
If You've done executing a test method and if you want to execute another test method which is present in another class or package, call the method by passing the present driver to it so that you can use the present instance of the driver over there.
This question has been asked several times in the past and the one I'm about to answer is not even close to recent. However I still gonna go ahead and post an answer because recently I've been engulfed with questions related to same browser session. How would I be able to leverage the browser which is already open, so I can continue my test run, rather than restart it from the scratch. It's even painstaking in some cases, after navigating through tons of pages, when you encounter the issue of restarting your Selenium test. Instead I was left wondering "where is the silver bullet?". Finally I saw one of the articles written by "http://tarunlalwani.com/post/reusing-existing-browser-session-selenium/". However still there are a few missing links. So I wanted to unravel it here with the help of a suitable example.
In the following code snippet, I'm trying to launch SeleniumHQ and Clicking Download link in a Selenium session in Chrome browser.

Now you may have to refactor and rename the driver object (even leaving the name would still work, but I just wanted to differentiate between attaching it to an existing driver and the launching the driver). In the above code block, I continue my tests, after reading and assigning the URL and sessionid and create the driver from session to continue leveraging the browser and session.
