What is VB6Cli.exe?
-------------------
VB6Cli.exe is a utility that is designed to fix design-time license problems with
ActiveX Controls that ship with Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0. The utility does not
fix third-party controls or controls that are not normally installed by
Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0, nor does it enable the use of Remote Data Object
(RDO) objects in Visual Basic 6.0 Professional Edition. If you try to use RDO in
Visual Basic 6.0 Professional Edition, you may also encounter symptoms II and IV
below. The only way to enable RDO is to install Visual Basic 6.0 Enterprise
Edition.
VB6Cli.exe will help correct problems with the following symptoms:
Symptom I:
When trying to site a control within a project, Microsoft Visual Basic raises the
following error dialog:
License Information For This Component Not Found. You Do Not Have An
Appropriate License To Use This Functionality In The Design Environment.
Symptom II:
When trying to compile a project, Microsoft Visual Basic raises the following
error dialog:
Compile Error : Permission Denied
Symptom III:
When using the Application Wizard, Microsoft Visual Basic raises an error dialog
similar to:
60: Method ~ of Object ~ failed
Symptom IV:
When trying to run a project, Microsoft Visual Basic raises the following error
dialog:
Runtime Error '429' : ActiveX Component Can't Create Object

How do I use VB6Cli.exe?
------------------------
VB6Cli.exe requires that an edition of Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 be installed on
the system where the utility is going to be used.
Before running the VB6Cli.exe utility, make sure there are no other applications
running.
Simply double-click on VB6Cli.exe through the Windows Explorer. The utility
detects Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0, and installs the required design-time
licenses for the edition detected.
If successful, you will see a dialog box similar to the following:
"Enterprise Design Licenses Have Been Installed Successfully"
VB6Cli.exe also offers a silent mode. Running the VB6Cli.exe from a command
prompt with a "/q" will run the utility without any user interface. Result codes
can be captured and used by other applications to test if the licenses were
installed.
Result Codes And Error Messages
-------------------------------
Exit Code 0 : Licenses for that Edition were installed
Exit Code 1 : Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 was not detected on this system
Exit Code 2 : Could Not Load A Support Utility Library
Exit Code 3,4 : At Least 1 Design License Was Not Properly Installed
Exit Code 5 : Unable To Install Any Design Licenses

I have had the same problem and the only way I have got the designer to work is (and this should work if build 10240 is acceptable for your development):
Open your project
Go under "Project" to "Properties"
Select "Application" on the left and change BOTH the target version and the min version to "Windows 10 (10.0; Build 10240)
Once you do that the XAML designer will start working again. I've had to do this on 4 different workstations and it's worked everytime.
As to why build 10568 doesn't work? Got me, agile development, will be fixed in a patch? :p
I had the same problem and could not change BOTH versions to Build 10240 as the Application listbox only showed 10586 in Properties/Application. I thought I could arrange that by editing the .csproj file, which is XML after all, but any change there makes all files in the Solution Explorer immediately unavailable. Then I noticed (running Winver.exe) that my W10 still shows build 10240 despite regularly (but not automatically) running Windows updates. Despite multiple solutions tried, this didn't change. I finally used the MediaCreation Tool to download a new Windows 10 on a USB stick and reinstalled Windows 10, preserving apps and data. And now I am really on 10586 ...and the Design mode shows again when I open my project.
I hope this helps a few!
If you are looking for the SSIS toolbox, click SSIS tab, then SSIS Toolbox.
I have had a website up and running for over 3 years with SAP .net connector 3.0 in 32 bit format. Unfortunately the Windows 2003 server that was hosting this application has failed. Our network team has created a new Windows 2012 server, and request the website be re-written in 64 bit. I have successfully added the reference to the x64 version of sapnco dll's, but now when I try to compile website, I'm getting an error on my page directive.
The error is "ASP.NET Runtime error: Object reference not set to instance of an object"
None of the code itself (ECCDestConfig.vb and code behinds) does not show any errors. This error is appearing on the page directive of ALL my .aspx web pages in this project, even pages that don't call SAP.
I have set the configuration manager to use x64 as the active solution platform.
I am really stuck - and could use some help.
SAP .NET Connector needs Microsoft Visual C++ runtime of a specific version, which depends on both the .NET framework version and the version of the Operating System (32-bit or 64-bit).
According to the SAP official documentation, you need one of the followings:
NCo 3.0 32-bit (x86), .NET 2.0 (also 3.0, and/or 3.5): Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Pack (x86) (mscvp80.dll)
NCo 3.0 64-bit (x64), .NET 2.0 (also 3.0, and/or 3.5): Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Pack (x64) (mscvp80.dll)
NCo 3.0 32-bit (x86), .NET 4.0: Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Pack (x86) (mscvp100.dll)
NCo 3.0 64-bit (x64), .NET 4.0: Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Pack (x64) (mscvp100.dll)
Problem solved. I used VB in Visual Studio 2013 with the 64 bit SAP .nco . The problem was I had created a "website" not a new "project. Once I did, and loaded the SAP DLL's as references to the project, and changed the configuration to use x64, new web pages I added did so without error. I might note, I aslo installed SAP GUI 730 on the same server. Its working now, both interacting with SAP and a separate SQL database,
Thanks for your answer
To be able to execute the x64 dlls in VStudio, it must be verified that the project is being compiled also in x64. You have to go to Tools, Options ..., Projects and Solutions, Web Projects. And check "Use the 64 bits."
I am using DirectX 9.0 on Windows 8, when I open the DirectX control panel, I found some options was disabled, I am running as a administrator, so this is not an privilege issue. why this happened? I can't turn on the debug version runtime since it is disabled. see picture below. the SDK I am using is June 2010
Answer from Microsoft XNA forum
The Direct3D 9 Developer Runtime (aka D3D9D.DLL) in the legacy DirectX SDK (June 2010) is not compatible with Windows 8. In fact, the entire Developer Runtime in the legacy DirectX SDK (June 2010) is not compatible with Windows 8 or with Windows 7 SP1 with KB 2370838 installed. The only way to obtain the Direct3D 9 Developer Runtime for Windows 8 is to install a 'checked' version of Windows 8. The Direct3D 10.x/11.x Developer Runtime for Windows 8 is installed by the Windows 8.0 SDK, VS 2012, or the VS 2012 Remote Debugging Tools packages.
See Where is the DirectX SDK?, Where is the DirectX SDK (2013 Edition)?, and DirectX 11.1 and Windows 7
Another option I found here is this:
Using regedit, go to key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Direct3D. The "Trusted Installer" has ownership of this key. Change ownership to Administrators, then grant "Full Access" to the Administrators (write access to values should be enough, but I didn't test this). Now run the DX Control Panel (as admin, of course). Now the changes should be saved.
I am getting a few errors trying to download the new VS2012. Its a fresh install of windows 8 (did the windows update). I have tried not selecting all (no C++, lightswitch, blend, office tools)
I tried different mounting tools for the .ISO but no luck. VS2010 is still working. Running x86. Log file
Errors:
Critical: Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 x86 Minimum Runtime - 11.0.507 Cannot find the requested object.
Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Pre-Clean Tool Cannot find the requested object
Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 x86 Additional Runtime - 11.0.507 Cannot find the requested object.
Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Core Libraries, Team Foundation Server 2012, Microsoft Framework 4.5 Multi-Targeting pack.... and a few other ones cannot be found. Thanks!
Downloaded the web installer, and that seemed to work. It seems that the iso was corrupted as the MD5 did not match.
My VB.NET application uses Microsoft Flex Grid Control 6.0. This is a legacy application which has been ported from VB6 with the Visual Studio conversion wizard. Although I can compile the assembly, I get a COMException because some class is not registered. I've found out that this class is the Microsoft Flex Grid Control 6.0.
Where can I find the control and how can I register it on machines so that the application will run?
Best Regards,
Oliver Hanappi
The "Microsoft FlexGrid Control" MSFlxGrd.ocx shipped with Visual Basic 6. It is an ActiveX control. The easiest way to get the control is to install Visual Basic 6. If you have an MSDN subscription, VB6 is available as a free download. But I am surprised you can compile your application if the control is not already installed on your development machine.
Once you have found the control, you need to register it on the machines where you need your program to run. The easiest way is just to create a deployment project. If you want to do it manually, use regsvr32 from the command line.
