How to convert batch i.e huge pdf files to text using Adobe Acrobat Pro? - acrobat

i am having 1000 valid and working pdf files. followed the below steps to convert a pdf to text file in Acrobat Redear Pro
Open Adobe Acrobat Pro
Tools -> Action Wizard - Create New Action - Add the files to be converted ->
Go to More Tools - Double Click Execute Java Script - Click Save -> Give a action Name (any name)
The created new action will be listed under Actions and click the same - Click start -> Paste the below Javascript and change your output folder. c/MyFiles/Ouput is the output folder where the converted files will be stored
/* PDF to Text */
this.saveAs("/c/MyFiles/Output" + this.documentFileName + ".txt","com.adobe.acrobat.plain-text");
Note: Each time a window is poping-up once the first file is done..then it goes 1, 3, 5
Note: Is there is anyway to do a bulk convesion - like 1000 pdf files to a folder where text fill be generated.
Please let me know your feeback.
Thanks,
Kathir

You can do it in Acrobat Pro without bothering with javascript.
In Acrobat Pro :
View -> Tools -> Action Wizard -> Create new Action
Choose 'Save & Export' -> Save -> add to right hand pane.
At right hand pane -> choose folder to process and click 'Specify Settings' button to change export format to TXT
Note : I didn't see encoding option here.

You can use the Action Wizard of Acrobat Pro (actually Acrobat XI Pro), to create an Action which does include your JavaScript. Then you can apply that Action to individual files, or whole directories.
You may also verify if the Action wizard would allow you sufficient control over the output file name. If so, you may not even need the JavaScript.

Open pdf within rcp application as a separate view

My requirement is to open pdf files directly inside my RCP application as a separate view.
Currently the files are listed in a tree in the explorer view on clicking of which opens the installed adobe reader.
I want to open it inhouse .
Please suggest.
Was able to load a PDF file within a SWT basic shell but it does not further allow to perform any other operation on it(zoom, select text, scroll etc..).
The PDF basically shows up as a image(of the first page) & is not further interactive.
Any suggestion how to get this done would be helpfull.
For the sample SWT application to load a PDF I followed this link(used the program ID of acrobat reader instead of word from the registry) :

How to copy only specific page content of pdf to clipboard?

I had tried to copy the whole document(which is in pdf format) to notepad and word but now I want to move at some specific page of document let say 3 and I want to store the content only of that page to the clipboard. Is there any way to do that?
Till all I know is how to store the whole document in the clipboard.
program acrord32
keyboard ⋘ALT⋙⋘DOWN⋙⋘3⋙
keyboard ⋘CTRL+A⋙⋘CTRL+C⋙
♥doc1 = ♥clipboard
Using keyboard CTRL+A in Adobe Acrobat always select ALL text in WHOLE ALL pages.
But there are other options.
This option is available in NOT FREE version in example "Acrobat Standard DC" or "Acrobat Pro DC". Unfortunatelly these versions are paid applications. In these version has function named "Extract pages" and you can specify that each page as separate file. After extraction you have any file with once page and you can using CTR+A :)
But we have alternative option by using google chrome. Open PDF file in google chrome and send file to print with change printer as "Save as PDF". There you can specify page as new file PDF.

AppleScript to save pdf as pdf-x in Acrobat

I am currently using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2015.23 on macOS Sierra.
My goal is to create AppleScript that do such things:
Open PDF File
Save this file to pdf-x format
Close file
I create AppleScript, that do all steps, but i can't find any documentation how to choose with PDF standard to use while saving.
If I want to do this manually I do following steps:
Open PDF in Adobe Acrobat
Choose PDF Standards Menu
Click (Save as PDF/X)
Press save
The question is how to set PDF/X standard while saving.
My script
on is_running(appName)
tell application "System Events" to (name of processes) contains appName
end is_running
set theFiles to choose file with prompt "Select the files" of type {"pdf"} with multiple selections allowed
set aaRunning to is_running("Adobe Acrobat")
tell application "Adobe Acrobat"
repeat with theFile in theFiles
open theFile without dialogs
save active doc to theFile
close active doc
end repeat
if not aaRunning then
quit
end if
end tell
As you may have noted, Applescript support of Acrobat is very limited.
Just so, the following possible workflows come to my mind:
a) you can use Preflight Profiles to create PDF/X (this is also the engine if you do it manually). You can run/apply Preflight Profiles using Acrobat JavaScript, and you can run Acrobat JavaScripts using the do script Applscript command.
b) you create a Preflight Droplet which makes an according PDF/X file. You then can use Applescript to open the document (file) in that droplet.
c) you use System Events to control the user interface elements of Acrobat. In other words, you do what you would do manually, but using System Events. You may want to use an utility, such as UI Browser to find the ways to address the various dialog elements.

sql Developer pkg AND trg FILES

taking a SQL class and using sql developer. How do I create a file with extensions .pkg and .trg. I know they are for package and triggers. When I opened my connection and right clicked package I opened a package but it did not create an actual file that I would be able to submit?
Any ideas?
There are various options for saving your code to a file:
Right click on the object in the connections tree and choose Quick DDL -> Save to File. This will save the file with a .sql extension which you can later change as desired from the file system.
Open the object from the connections tree, then choose File -> Save As. This method defaults to saving files with a .pls extension, but you can override that when saving or change it later from the file system.
Drag the objects from the Connections tree to the shopping Cart (View->Cart) then Click the Export Cart button (DB icon with a green arrow) and choose the Save As Separate Files option. The files will be saved with .sql extensions, and for table objects it can optionally export the data as well.

Why does my PDF ask for a password after being retrieved from Visual SourceSafe?

PREFACE: Yes we're moving away from VSS in the next few months.
One of my web projects contains, as one of its files, a PDF. The PDF on our QA site is being pulled from VSS.
A QA tester recently told me he's being prompted for a password when he tries to open it. VSS says the file I have on disk is different than the one it has, so I updated it, but afterwards it's still being shown as different.
So basically VSS is mangling my PDF and the results are so wobbly that Adobe Acrobat Reader is confused and thinks it has a password.
I've tried adding it as Auto-Detect and as Binary. Same results.
Why does my PDF ask for a password after being retrieved from Visual SourceSafe and how can I prevent it?
Do you have the SourceSafe 2005 Update installed?
Handy list of known issues: http://blogs.msdn.com/richardb/archive/2007/06/06/list-of-bugs-fixed-in-sourcesafe-2005-gdr.aspx
The PDF bug was one of the most commonly requested hotfixes: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925234
I've tried adding it as Auto-Detect and as Binary. Same results.
To be clear, are you adding a version of the file you know is not already corrupted? Even so, there are plenty of other bug fixes on the list above which can cause random file corruption -- try that first.
You can remove PDF password by this tool:
Advanced PDF Password Remover 5.0
Step 1: Import PDF files
Click the "Add File(s)" button, browse your computer to find the PDF files and load them. You can import as many as 200 PDF files into this program for every batch processing. The imported files are listed in the file list window as below.
Step 2: Set output folder
You can customize a folder to save the output files all together. The default folder is My Documents\Advanced PDF Password Removerr. Click "Brows" button to specify a folder on your computer, or you can make a new folder manually in the text box.
Step 3: Remove restrictions
Click "Start" button, and the files are processed one by one.
"SUCCEED" is displayed in the Result column after the removing process is finished.
