I want to export some data from SQL Server to Oracle but I have this scenario:
My table in SQL I need to save my ID in a parameter in SSIS to use this because I want to run this package every 30 minutes.
So if my last ID in SQL exported to oracle is 10, I will save this on a variable in SSIS to change my query like this "SELECT * FROM TABLE WHERE ID > PARAMETER"
But I have no idea how to do it. help me
You can't store a variable in SSIS and have it last between sessions. The ID is in a table, yes? You can do something along the lines of
select
*
from
table
where
id > (select max(id) from <destination table>)
Or, if you're looking at completely different databases, you can populate a variable with the max(id) from your destination, and then plug that variable into your select from your source.

I need to copy tables from a linked server onto my local machine. I am working in SQL management studio. The linked server is Oracle based. My end goal is to set up a stored proc that deletes a table if it exists and creates a new table in its place with refreshed data. This will be done for many tables as needed. The issue with the below code is that I get the error:
Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'SELECT'.
I am stuck at creating the table.
CREATE TABLE test AS
SELECT DUMMY
FROM OPENQUERY (LServer, '
Select *
from sourceT
');
The data in the dummy table is just one column with a single value "x". I have seen posts that suggest using a certain notation in naming the linked server table, like <server.database.schema.tablename> but this doesn't seem to work, even if I just run the select statement using the openquery. If I just run the select part in the script above, this does work.
CREATE TABLE test AS
Is valid in Oracle but not SQL Server
You want
-- if the table already exists drop it
DROP TABLE IF EXISTS test;
-- now create a table and load into it
SELECT DUMMY
INTO test
FROM OPENQUERY (LServer, '
Select *
from sourceT')
I have a database on SQL Server and would like to use a column in one of my tables in a linked server openquery I'm running to an Oracle database in order to match values between the two and insert the result into columns in my table in SQL Server .
Essentially I want it to be like this:
SELECT col1, col2, col3, col4
FROM OPENQUERY(link, 'SELECT * FROM Oracle_Table
WHERE ID = MSSQL.dbo.table.ID`)
So I'd like to be able to use my internal table column values to query an external database. They are related tables but different systems.
Would it be possible to get a big list of the values in the SQL Server table column and use it as a variable in the Oracle query? I've searched extensively online but haven't been able to find this one.
You can't pass parameters like I wanted to, but I ended up creating a bunch of queries in Powershell using a for loop and variables within the string to create my large query, then put a UNION ALL after each SELECT FROM OPENQUERY()
I want to create an interface between 2 databases on SQL Server 2008+ to copy several similar named tables into one.
I have n tables that all have the same naming convention, for example:
SalesInvoicePlanning2014ver1
SalesInvoicePlanning2015ver1
SalesInvoicePlanning2015ver2
etc.
The numbers can vary and do not have a set start (or end), but are always of the "int"-Datatype.
I also have a table "tabledir" that contains all table names as list. (one field) There are a total of 30-40 entries in that list with (for me) undesired entries. In the above example I would need 3 of the 30 tables.
The plan is to use a loop container to
select Top 1([name]) from [tabledir] where name like 'SalesinvoicePlanning%'
and then use the result as variable in the following SSIS Data transfer task:
Select * from [variable]
However, I'm stuck with the SQL statement to give me the desired tablename on each iteration.
Performance is not really an issue. Any advice? Am I wrong trying to use a loop-container?
You can follow below steps -
Step 1 - You can first create SQL task to get all table names into one variable lets say, TableNames of type Object(recordset) using you query.
e.g. select ([name]) as TableName from [tabledir] where name like 'SalesinvoicePlanning%'
Step 2 - Add foreach loop container to iterate over this variable TableNames to take single table name into new variable current_table and add data flow into the container to import data to destination table. Your source query will be expression like -
Select column_names from current_table
I have few tables I need to load from linked firebird server into SQL Server from time to time. I use statement like this:
SELECT * into dekr FROM OPENQUERY ( [PLINK] ,'select * from dekr' )
It takes a while since it's going over network etc, is there a way to update once created
table dekr only with changes since last time?
thanks
I am using sql server 2005
I have a table [say tblHistory] and this table contains 100 rows.
I have created the same table at the server, but the table doesn't have the data, I want data from tblHistory to convert into
INSERT INTO tblHistory ------
so that I could run the script on the server to fill the database.
To generate all the INSERT INTO statements you need based on table data, take a look at this project: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/database/sqlinsertupdategenerator.aspx
you need to create a linked server between the two servers and then you do something like this
INSERT INTO tblHistory
select * from LinkedServerNAme.DatabaseName.SchemaName.tblHistory
To add a linked server read this http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms190479.aspx
BTW you can also use OPENROWSET, OPENDATASOURCE, SSIS or bcp out and bcp in
Not sure I understand the question... you just want to copy the contents of one table into another?
INSERT INTO newTable SELECT * FROM tblHistory
If the new table doesn't already exist, you can use SELECT INTO:
SELECT *
INTO new_table
FROM tblHistory
But that's the caveat - it has to be a new table, no data already in there.
Otherwise, use:
INSERT INTO new_table
SELECT x.* --preferrable to actually define the column list than use *
FROM OLD_TABLE x
You should check out the SSMS Tools Pack - one of its feature is the ability to generate those INSERT scripts you're looking for!
Get the SSMS Tool Pack from this site - it's an add-in for SQL Server Management Studio - highly recommended!
