Formula R1C1 issues using IF - vba

this is new for me. I have an issue trying to run a formula in VBA using IF.
The idea is to include in AR3 column a modification date when in C3 there contains information.
This is what I wrote:
Range("AR3").Select
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "=IF(RC[-3]="";"";IF(RC[-44]="";NOW();RC[-44])"

A couple of things are not right with your formula:
You need to escape the double quotes (with double quotes... so four in total)
You are missing a closing parenthesis
This is optional, but you don't need to select the range
You can use the following corrected statement:
Range("AR3").FormulaR1C1 = "=IF(RC[-3]="""","""",IF(RC[-44]="""",NOW(),RC[-44]))"
Next time you run into this kind of trouble, just use the macro recorder: click on "Record macro", and enter your formula. Plus, you can always change the display in Excel to the R1C1 Reference style (Options > Formulas > R1C1 reference style) when that is helpful (Personally I've mapped this change to a shortcut key combination so I can easily get column numbers if needed)

Is there a way to use VBA for Excel to output a formula to a specific cell in an Excel worksheet?

I am fairly new at programming. I feel like this should be a simple fix but I cannot find anything that works. I am trying to use a Select Case structure to write a different formula to a cell depending on the selected case. If I type:
Sheet1.Range("g10").Value = "=IF(SUM(F10)>0,SUM((F10-15)),"")"
I get an error:
Run-time error '1004'
Application-defined or object-defined error.
I can get it to work if I include spaces like so:
Sheet1.Range("g10").Value = " =IF(SUM(F10)>0,SUM((F10-15)),"") "
but then Excel puts it into the cell like text, not as a formula (it doesn't do anything).
I have tried a few different methods but have run into the same issue. Is it possible to do this?

You don't need to sum a single cell ie SUM(F10) Also SUM((F10-15)) is the same as F10-15.
Try this: Sheet1.Range("g10").Formula = "=IF(F10>0,F10-15,"""")" Also note, you needed to double the double quotes towards the end.
Note, you can do this on a range too like this:
Sheet1.Range("g10:g20").Formula = "=IF(F10>0,F10-15,"""")" and it is smart enough to increment the references for you for the 10 cells.
Wrong property. You need .formula not .value
worksheets("sheet1").range("g10").formula = "=IF(SUM(F10)>0,SUM((F10-15)),"")"
You should be able to type out the formula and then turn on the Macro Recorder and double-click on the cell with the forums, then turn off the Macro recorder and examine your code. That should give you what you want.

percentile formula error in VBA

I'm trying to apply a formula through VBA for a particular range. This is the code in my VBA editor:
Sheets("WBR45").Range("AE105").Formula = "=PERCENTILE.INC(TP!$A$3:$A$30:$B$3:$B$30:$C$3:$C$30:$E$3:$E$30,50%)*24"
And the below formula gets updated in the destination cell when this is run:
=PERCENTILE.INC(TP!$A$3:$A$30:$B$3:$B$30:$C$3:$C$30:$E$3:$E$30,50%)*24
But I get an error in the destination cell as #VALUE!.
And when I click on "Show Calculation steps", only this part of the formula is underlined :
TP!$A$3:$A$30:$B$3:$B$30
I have no idea what is wrong with this simple formula. Can someone please take a look
Honestly I have no clue about what you're doing with this, but this may fix it:
"=PERCENTILE.INC(TP!$A$3:$A$30:TP!$B$3:$B$30:TP!$C$3:$C$30:TP!$E$3:$E$30,50%)*24"
You appear to have three errors in your formula:
You are using : to separate ranges instead of ,
You are not specifying which sheet the second, third and fourth ranges refer to, therefore it is defaulting to the sheet on which the formula occurs (i.e. sheet "WBR45")
Multiple ranges will need to be enclosed within brackets (...) in order to be passed as a single range.
If you are trying to have your function operate on the range A3:C30 together with the range E3:E30 (i.e. A3:E30 but ignoring column D), with those ranges being on the "TP" worksheet, I believe that you need to change your formula to
Sheets("WBR45").Range("AE105").Formula = "=PERCENTILE.INC((TP!$A$3:$A$30,TP!$B$3:$B$30,TP!$C$3:$C$30,TP!$E$3:$E$30),50%)*24"
or, slightly simplified
Sheets("WBR45").Range("AE105").Formula = "=PERCENTILE.INC((TP!$A$3:$C$30,TP!$E$3:$E$30),50%)*24"

Excel VBA formula as text issue

In my Excel 2016 VBA I have this code:
Range("M2").Select
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "=IFERROR(IF(E2=""Sgl"",K2,L2),"")"
when it gets placed in the cell it is the formula not the result. To manually fix this I have to change from Text to General and also the actual code needs changing:
Cell M2 says: =IFERROR(IF(E2="Sgl",K2,L2),")
It should say: =IFERROR(IF(E2="Sgl",K2,L2),"")
with the extra " at the end before the closing parenthesis
This was recorded (I removed the RC to the absolute cell reference initially when it wouldn't work), so I'm not sure what caused this or how to resolve it.
Any help would be appreciated.

I think you just need to add the extra quote at the end. Because the quote denotes a string, you need to make two of them to yield one -- which means you need four to yield two.

Other notes of interest:
You don't need to Range().Select and then work against ActiveCell. Just invoke the methods/properties directly on the Range Object
I think in your case Formula will work. R1C1 is handy when the formulas are relative, but in this case, you are referencing actual cells. There is nothing wrong with what you did, but FYI
To generate the two double quotes ("") in IFERROR, you need to put 4 double quotes ("""") in the vba string literal.
I fixed this by removing the IFERROR part as if there was no value in the proceeding columns it simply left it blank anyway rather than showing an error message:

Major formatting issue in Excel - VLOOKUP

I need help with a formatting issue in Excel, which is interfering with the VLOOKUP function in my Excel sheet.
I have two sheets with more than 20,000 column values as lookup, and the same number of values for reference. All the values in both cells are weirdly formatted, some with green triangles at the upper left corner of cells, some are text, etc.
Is there a way in Excel using a macro/VBA to remove or make all formatting similar in both sheets? The reason for VBA is because the person who is going to work with this file needs everything automated and is not familiar with Excel at all. I already have the VLOOKUP function in the cells, I just need to work with the formatting.
Well, I fight with partial lookups this way:
In the items array, I create new empty FIRST column and then place formula
="+"&B2
This will take the content of Cell B2 and add + in the front of it.
When I do vlookup, I add "+" to searcheable value
=VLOOKUP("+"&A6,A:O,2,FALSE)
Therefore, instead of comparing for example Strings and numbers, I compare Strings, by adding "+" in the front.
Another technique, is to kill all formatting:
Select whole column, click DATA-TEXT TO COLUMNS-DELIMITED and then DESELECT ALL DELIMITERS. Click Finish. This will clear your formatting.

I'm assuming the data type in all of the cells is the same, or you want it to all be the same. The following steps will make the cells a uniform type:
Save your workbook, in case this does not do as you require
Select all cells you wish to be of the same cell type
Press Ctrl+1, on the "Number" tab, select the type you wish these cells to take. Press OK.
Open the VBA editor using Alt+F11
Open the immediate window with Ctrl+G
Type the following: for each cell in selection : cell.formula = cell.value : next cell
Press enter (you may have to wait a few seconds).
If you take this action with the same data type (e.g. choose "Text" for both ranges in step 3) on both your ranges you should be "comparing apples with apples" and your VLOOKUP should function as required.

You can try using FormulaLocal property instead of Formula. Then the semicolon should work.
The correct character to use in this case is a full colon (:), not a semicolon (;).
The correct character (comma or colon) depends on the purpose.
Comma (,) will sum only the two cells in question.
Colon (:) will sum all the cells within the range with corners defined by those two cells.
Treb, Matthieu's problem was caused by using Excel in a non-English language. In many language versions ";" is the correct separator. Even functions are translated (SUM can be SOMMA, SUMME or whatever depending on what language you work in). Excel will generally understand these differences and if a French-created workbook is opened by a Brazilian they will normally not have any problem.
But VBA speaks only US English so for those of us working in one (or more) foreign langauges, this can be a headache.
You and CharlesB both gave answers that would have been OK for a US user but Mikko understod the REAL problem and gave the correct answer (which was also the correct one for me too - I'm a Brit working in Italy for a German-speaking company).
I don't know why, but if you use
(...)Formula = "=SUM(D2,E2)"
(',' instead of ';'), it works.
If you step through your sub in the VB script editor (F8), you can add Range("F2").Formula to the watch window and see what the formular looks like from a VB point of view. It seems that the formular shown in Excel itself is sometimes different from the formular that VB sees...
